Chapter 696: A Magical Gift of a Million Soldiers
Chapter 696: A Magical Gift of a Million Soldiers
"As for my gift..."
Feng Ye chuckled, not having given it much thought or preparation. However, for him, preparing a last-minute birthday present was a simple matter.
He raised his hand and gently grabbed at the air. A burst of milky white light shot out, hovering in the sky before rapidly transforming into countless specks of light that converged towards his palm, eventually forming a small ball.
The white lights condensed further, shrinking into a white pearl.
"Here, Wendy."
With a gentle smile, Feng Ye handed the pearl to Wendy.
Wendy reached out and took it, her big eyes sparkling with delight as a hint of crimson dusted her cheeks. "It's so beautiful."
Although it resembled a pearl, it looked more like a magical gem. One could vaguely see what seemed like a billion white specks of light swirling and shimmering within it.
"It does look like a magical gem," Lisanna remarked, blinking. "But I'm sure there's more to Brother Feng Ye's gift than meets the eye."
Feng Ye smiled amiably. "Indeed, it is a magical gem, but one that I've specially crafted. This gem contains a billion life forms that I've created, and each one can transform into a magical soldier."
"Eh?! A billion magical soldiers?!"
Wendy's eyes widened in shock as she listened to Feng Ye's explanation, her gaze fixed on the glowing pearl in her hand.
"Mhm," Feng Ye acknowledged with a soft laugh. "All you need to do is infuse it with your magic to activate it. You can release any number of magical soldiers from it, but they're consumable. Once released, they'll only exist for 24 hours and cannot be recalled."
In truth, Wendy had little use for such a life-saving magical item. Feng Ye had left a bit of his magic within her, allowing him to monitor her situation at all times and come to her aid should any danger arise.
However, since it was her birthday gift, there was no harm in giving her this present.
These magical soldiers were not exceptionally strong, but they weren't weak either. They were merely ordinary magical soldiers. While their sheer number could destroy a country, facing off against a Mage Saint like Mebis, it would be challenging to overwhelm them with sheer numbers.
A single Fairy Law could wipe them all out.
At least this way, the balance of power in this world wouldn't be disrupted.
"It's an incredibly powerful protective magical equipment," Elsa remarked, her eyes reflecting a hint of awe. "With this, Wendy, you won't have to worry about your safety anymore."
As a frequent customer of the magic shop, she was well aware of the immense value such a magical gem held.
Similar magical items that could release a hundred magical soldiers were already priced at tens of thousands of J. If Feng Ye's gift could truly release a million magical soldiers, its price would be astronomical!
It was a force capable of razing a country to the ground!
Indeed.
Although she had grown significantly stronger over the past two years and believed herself to be on par with an S-class Mage, she knew that she still had a long way to go to match Feng Ye's prowess.
"Th-This is too precious..."
While Wendy couldn't gauge its value as accurately as Elsa, she could still sense the worth of the magical gem in her hand. Suddenly, the glowing pearl in her palm felt much heavier.
Feng Ye waved away her concerns with a casual laugh. "Creating a million magical soldiers is a simple task for me. Don't worry about it and just accept the gift."
"Now, come over here and let's cut the cake."
As he spoke, Feng Ye took the cake knife from Elsa and moved towards the birthday cake.
Mira tilted her head and patted Wendy's head affectionately. "As expected of the Sky Dragon Slayer, you only need one breath to blow out the candles."
Feng Ye couldn't help but chuckle at that.
Indeed, it did resemble a 'Dragon's Roar'.
Wendy's face turned crimson at Mira's teasing, and she lowered her head in embarrassment.
Lisanna quickly noticed and asked with a giggle, "What did you wish for, Wendy?"
Wendy fiddled with her fingers and then flashed an innocent and adorable expression as she replied in a soft voice, "I wished that we could all be together forever."
Erza smiled gently and looked at her sincerely, nodding in agreement. "We will."
Juvia and the others also smiled warmly.
The evening continued with a delicious dinner and the birthday cake they had prepared earlier. As they chatted about interesting moments from their recent missions, Wendy listened intently, her face lighting up with a cute smile from time to time.
Erza and Mira continued their usual bickering and mutual provocations, but with Feng Ye sitting beside them, they exercised a bit more restraint than usual.
However, at some point, their rivalry escalated into a drinking contest.
Although the red wine prepared for the birthday celebration was not particularly strong, both Erza and Mira ended up consuming a considerable amount, ultimately passing out from drunkenness during the feast.
Feng Ye didn't bother to stop them and merely watched with amused laughter.
After all, their constant bickering and quarreling had become a familiar routine, much like Natsu and Gray, and almost everyone in the guild was used to it by now. Besides, they were both fifteen years old, so a little wine wasn't a cause for concern.
Even Wendy had a small glass, her face turning a bright shade of red, resembling a ripe apple, before she dozed off on the sofa.
"Sheesh."
Feng Ye shook his head slightly as he looked at the unconscious Erza and Mira, as well as Wendy sleeping on the sofa and Juvia, who was a little tipsy and dazed.
After a moment's thought, he waved his hand and cast a temperature magic array, maintaining a cozy warmth in the living room, including the floor, so that everyone would be comfortable.
Having done that, he left the passed-out group in the living room and returned to his room to read and rest.
...
In the morning, a ray of sunlight filtered through the curtains and into the room.
Feng Ye opened his eyes right on time.
Although he didn't require much sleep, he would occasionally sleep to experience the life of a regular human.
His sleep was consistent, and he always woke up at the same time. Unless something happened externally, he wouldn't wake up prematurely.
"...?"
As soon as he opened his eyes, Feng Ye felt something amiss about the weight on his body. It wasn't just the weight of the blanket, but something more.
He turned his head and saw a pair of legs in white knee-high socks resting on his stomach. The owner of those legs was lying haphazardly across him.
Feng Ye was already accustomed to waking up with a girl in his bed, so he calmly sat up and gently grasped Mira's ankle, moving her legs off him.
"Umm..."
Mira frowned slightly and slowly opened her eyes, waking up.
