Chapter 694: Thanos' Army Arrives (First Update)
"Knock, knock, knock!"
Just as Jerry was about to easily handle Aisha, the door was suddenly knocked on.
"Jerry, Thanos has sent a message. They are expected to arrive at the Wasteland in five minutes!"
Nebula's voice came from the doorway.
"Looks like they're really in a hurry."
Jerry thought for a moment and replied:
"Got it. Call everyone. I'll wait for you all to gather downstairs in the hotel."
According to the normal course of events, Thanos should have already obtained the Power Stone and the Reality Stone by now. However, due to Jerry's intervention, he currently has none of the stones.
So, when he heard that two stones had appeared in the Wasteland, one of which was the elusive Soul Stone, he couldn't help but be anxious.
"Come on, Aisha, are you feeling unwell?"
After responding to Nebula, Jerry turned back to Aisha and noticed that she looked conflicted.
Aisha quickly waved her hands:
"Haha, no, no, I'm fine. Let's hurry downstairs so they don't have to wait for us."
With that, she led the way to the door, ready to open it for her dear brother.
After confirming that her brother was indeed the Witch, a bold idea suddenly sprang to Aisha's mind. Could the legendary, ancient, and all-powerful Magic Master Carmen, whom the Little Green Dragon often spoke of, be related to her brother?
After all, her brother also had the surname Carmen, and it was no coincidence that she found Carmen's Mahjong in the family basement, becoming the Mahjong Girl.
Moreover, many of the effects of the Mahjong Magic she used were very similar to the Magic the Witch had used.
Before, she thought it was normal for Magic to be similar, but now, with all these signs, it didn't seem so ordinary anymore.
That's why she had looked so conflicted, considering whether to ask her brother about this.
But then she thought better of it. Even if she asked, her brother might not admit it, and even if he did, the consequences, given the previous incident, would not be pretty.
It was better to avoid trouble and continue being a happy Magic Girl. After all, one shouldn't fall in the same place twice.
Seeing Aisha run to open the door, Jerry secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He knew what was bothering Aisha. If she had asked her question, he would have had to bring out all the incriminating evidence he had recorded about her over the years to counteract it.
"No need for all that trouble. We'll teleport there directly."
Jerry grabbed Aisha's arm and used Phantom Shift, instantly appearing at the hotel entrance downstairs.
Aisha, coming to her senses, realized why her brother had said they would meet Nebula and the others at the hotel entrance, rather than having them wait there.
Indeed, she still had a lot to learn about the application of Magic. She couldn't match her brother in intelligence or strength. It seemed that in the future, she would only be able to bully the youngest, Charlie, at home.
"This is the power that allows Thanos to dominate the universe?"
Five minutes later, the Wasteland suddenly darkened as a vast, endless fleet of ships, like a dark cloud, loomed over the sky.
Iron Man and the others, standing at the hotel entrance, looked up at the sky, their faces filled with awe.
They knew Thanos was powerful, and his army was nearly unstoppable, with even Xandar and the Kree Empire hesitant to interfere with his actions.
But when they truly saw the full might of Thanos' army, they realized what it meant to be hopelessly outmatched.
Just the Chitauri fleets that had attacked New York, which they had barely managed to defeat, were present in several numbers. There were also the more powerful Vanguard Corps and the Temple Ship, a colossal warship that was almost as vast as the Wasteland itself.
To be honest, based on the strength displayed by Thanos' forces, if he were to invade Earth and Jerry were not around, Tony and the others felt that Earth would stand no chance, even with the powerful Avengers on their side.
In fact, Jerry believed that if Earth didn't have so many variables, the Chitauri army, the weakest of Thanos' forces, could easily destroy the planet.
In the original storyline, the Avengers' narrow victory was largely due to Captain Marvel, a Celestial Level being.
Without Captain Marvel, who could effortlessly destroy those massive cosmic super-dreadnoughts, Thanos wouldn't even need to show up. He could simply use his fleet's long-range weapons to bombard Earth from outer space and secure an easy win.
Earth had no high-tech weapons capable of threatening Thanos' fleet, and among the Avengers, there were only a few superheroes who could fight in space.
Therefore, the Celestial Level was a threshold in the Marvel Universe. Only by reaching this level could one ignore the threat of numbers.
And at the Singular Cosmic Level, it was practically impossible to defeat such beings, even if all the fleets in the universe were combined.
Thanos had always been hesitant to bring his easily Earth-destroying army to collect the Infinity Stones, preferring to send Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf to test the waters, due to his fear of the Celestial Level beings like the Ancient One and Odin.
However, now that the Ancient One is dead and Odin is near death, if Thanos obtains the Soul Stone and the Power Stone, his next targets will undoubtedly be Asgard and Earth.
But Jerry would not allow the battle to take place on Earth, where his family and friends live. He intended to resolve everything in the Wasteland, a place dominated by black market traders.
"Jerry, are you confident?"
Tony, looking at the endless rows of Thanos' fleet, swallowed hard and asked Jerry with a hint of worry.
They had experienced Jerry's strength firsthand, but the power of Thanos and his cosmic fleet was equally daunting.
"What if I say I'm not confident?"
Jerry didn't immediately answer but smiled with interest.
Before Tony could respond, Steve spoke with unwavering determination.
"Even if we're not confident, we have to fight. We can't let them enter Earth; it would be a catastrophic disaster for the planet!"
In the Avengers, while Tony and Steve were not the strongest, Thor, Wanda, Stephen, Hulk, Aisha, and even Spider-Man when he was serious, could potentially surpass them in power.
However, they were the undeniable leaders of the superhero organization.
Tony's leadership was due to his intelligence and immense wealth, while Steve's was rooted in his unyielding spirit, never giving in or giving up, no matter the difficulty, the setback, or the hopeless opponent.
