Chapter 690: Mira and Lisanna
Chapter 690: Mira and Lisanna
"...'
Feng Ye watched this unfold but remained silent. Instead, he shrugged and shared a glance with the girl who had 'rescued' Wendy. He then pointed towards Wendy.
At that moment, Wendy, who had realized what had happened, looked up at the girl and said meekly, "Sister, um... it was just a caterpillar that fell on my face. Brother Feng Ye helped me get rid of it; it's not what you think."
The girl frowned and glared at Feng Ye, still unconvinced. "Were you threatened? Don't be afraid; I'm here, and he can't do anything to you!"
"..."
Wendy opened her mouth but couldn't find the words to explain.
Feng Ye shook his head at the scene before him and said,
"Unbelievable."
As his words landed, he took a step forward, and his entire body vanished from sight, only to reappear right behind the white-haired girl. He gently patted her shoulder.
Pat!
With just that gentle pat, the girl's entire body went numb, as if she had been electrocuted. She couldn't even muster a token resistance and collapsed limply.
After Feng Ye's tap rendered the girl unconscious, he stood there, looking down at her. "You truly are unreasonable, Mirajane Strauss."
This fiery and unreasonable girl, dressed like a little delinquent, was indeed the young Mirajane, the future face of the Fairy Tail guild.
It's worth mentioning that at this point, Mirajane still had the personality of a clumsy, impulsive little devil and hadn't yet transformed into the gentle and cunning older sister she would become in the future.
"Sister!"
Lisanna and Elfman, standing nearby, exclaimed in surprise. They glanced at Feng Ye with a mix of alarm and fear but quickly rushed over to support Mirajane.
Even with their help, Mirajane couldn't stand steadily. Her whole body trembled slightly, as if she had experienced the thrill of soaring into the clouds dozens of times in that instant. She breathed heavily.
She looked at Feng Ye with a hint of fear and asked, "You... how do you know my name...?"
The sudden disappearance and reappearance, as well as the gentle pat on her shoulder, were clearly not abilities that an ordinary human could possess.
Mage! The man before her was undoubtedly a mage!
Moreover, upon closer inspection, she realized that she hadn't paid much attention to it earlier because of the suddenness of their encounter, but this man was exceptionally handsome, even surpassing the standards of her imagined future boyfriend.
"I just happen to know a little," Feng Ye replied with a casual smile. "Allow me to reintroduce myself. I'm Feng Ye, a mage, and this is my sister, Wendy, who is also a mage."
Wendy nodded obediently, her innocent and pure big eyes fixed on Mirajane.
Mirajane opened her mouth but couldn't find the words.
Lisanna and Elfman also looked at Mirajane, Feng Ye, and Wendy in turn, slightly dazed. Finally, Lisanna couldn't contain her curiosity and whispered, "Um, can someone explain what's going on here?"
...
After a moment, Lisanna and Elfman finally understood the situation.
Wendy had screamed because of a caterpillar, and Mirajane, who had appeared not far away, had misinterpreted Feng Ye's actions as those of a criminal abducting a young girl. She had immediately jumped in to save the day, only to discover that it was all a misunderstanding.
Seeing that Mira refused to admit any wrongdoing, she quickly turned to Feng Ye and Wendy, bowing apologetically. "I'm so sorry. My sister didn't understand the situation and caused you trouble."
Feng Ye glanced at Mira, not angry but rather amused by her tsundere personality. He waved it off, "It's fine."
In truth, he could understand why Mira was acting this way. After all, as the older sister, she felt responsible for protecting her younger siblings, and sometimes that meant putting on a strong front to hide a gentle heart.
"Are you villagers from around here?"
Erza looked at Lisanna and inquired.
Lisanna nodded obediently. "Yes, my brother, sister, and I live together. We came out to gather ingredients."
Erza's tone turned serious. "Have you encountered anything unusual these past few days?"
"Unusual?"
Lisanna was a bit perplexed. "What do you mean by unusual?"
Erza's eyes narrowed slightly, her voice grave. "Unusual in any way... We've received a commission from the Magic Council stating that there have been signs of demon activity in this area, so we're here to investigate."
"Eh?!"
Lisanna's eyes widened, and a hint of fear crept into her voice. "D-demons?!"
She glanced at Feng Ye and Erza, thinking quickly, then replied hesitantly, "I haven't noticed anything unusual these past few days."
"I see."
Erza's expression softened slightly. "You don't have to be afraid. We're here to take care of it."
Feng Ye glanced at Lisanna and replied casually, "Since there don't seem to be any issues here, we'll be on our way."
With that, he called out to Juvia and Erza and, along with Wendy, turned and began walking north into the forest.
"Hey... you..."
Mira watched as Feng Ye abruptly turned and walked away, her gaze falling on his retreating back. She extended her hand as if to say something, but the words caught in her throat.
Finally, she stomped her foot in annoyance. "What a jerk... What's so great about being a mage? I'll become a mage too!"
"... "
Lisanna and Elfman exchanged a glance, seeing the same helplessness in each other's eyes.
They were all too familiar with Mira's stubborn and strong-willed personality.
Lisanna hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Sister, they mentioned demons nearby. I don't know if they're telling the truth, but they don't seem like they're lying. Should we head back to the village?"
Mira thought briefly before nodding. "Let's go back. We have some emergency food at home."
As she spoke, she noticed the slight trepidation in Lisanna and Elfman's eyes, and her chest puffed out proudly. "There's no need to be so scared. Even if there are demons, I can take them on! Don't worry!"
Mira's display eased the tension in Lisanna's heart, and although she knew her sister was putting on a brave front, it still brought a smile to her face, and she nodded in agreement.
"Yes!"
