Chapter 69: Training Mission Conclusion
Chapter 69: Training Mission Conclusion
"Examinee Might Guy and Uchiha Obito, please enter the examination venue and prepare for your test."
As expected, the final battle for the top spot in the grade was between Might Guy and Obito.
Guy had defeated Hyuga Neji, the previous exam's top scorer, while Obito had displayed exceptional prowess in his fights with other candidates.
"Obito, good luck!" Yahiko Lin cheered for Obito, her small fists clenched in encouragement.
"Lin, just you wait and see, I'll win," Obito said with a confident smile, waving at Yahiko Lin.
This time, he was determined to secure first place.
To enhance his strength, he had endured much under that annoying guy, Kakashi.
A month of nature transformation and ninjutsu training, followed by a month of taijutsu intensive training, had transformed Obito. He was no longer the same person from two months ago, who would be knocked around by taijutsu and unable to cast his ninjutsu.
"Teacher Mu Yue, let me show you my progress!" Obito noticed that Mu Yue had also arrived at the exam venue.
"I will be the one to come out on top!" Guy flashed a brilliant smile, his two rows of white teeth particularly dazzling in the sunlight.
When it came to confidence, he wouldn't lose to Obito.
Even when he had failed the Ninja Academy entrance exam, he had always believed that he would become the strongest!
"Moreover, Teacher Mu Yue is watching, so I absolutely can't lose," Guy thought to himself.
He always kept Mu Yue's kindness in his heart, and he hadn't forgotten her words about how the progress of her disciples was the best reward for her. He wanted to showcase his strongest abilities to Mu Yue.
"Then let's begin. Remember, in this practical exam, you can't use ninjutsu, unlike in the previous training sessions," Obito said, forming the Standing Confrontation Seal.
"Then let's see whose youth burns more fiercely!" Guy also formed the Standing Confrontation Seal, ready to follow the rules.
Watching the two of them form the seal, Mu Yue made some predictions about the outcome of the match in her mind.
In terms of strength, the two were fairly evenly matched. Although Obito's taijutsu wasn't as good as Guy's, he knew two fire-style ninjutsu, while Guy only knew the Transformation Technique for ninjutsu.
However, Mu Yue felt that Guy had a slightly higher chance of winning.
While Guy might seem a bit slow-witted at times, he was extremely calm and collected in battle. On the other hand, Obito tended to be a bit flighty and easily distracted during fights.
Therefore, even with their similar levels of strength, Mu Yue favored Guy's chances.
"Begin the exam!" The proctor announced the start of the battle soon after the two had formed their seals.
"Konoha Senpuu!"
As soon as the proctor finished speaking, Guy instantly rushed forward and delivered a swift kick, his signature taijutsu move, aimed directly at Obito.
However, Obito was already familiar with this move, having been kicked countless times before. He immediately sidestepped and dodged the attack.
Obito quickly retreated, simultaneously throwing several shuriken at Guy with impressive accuracy.
Guy could vaguely guess Obito's tactic, but Obito's shuriken-throwing skills forced him to dodge to the side.
"Katon: Gouka Kyuu no Jutsu!" After creating some distance, Obito wasted no time and immediately performed the hand seals to cast his most powerful fire-style ninjutsu.
Hissing sounds filled the air as intense flames spewed from Obito's mouth. A gigantic fireball, twice the height of a person, rapidly formed and hurtled towards Guy.
"The power of clan ninjutsu is incredible! Even before graduation, they can learn such powerful techniques," a student exclaimed, his eyes wide with envy as he looked at the terrifying fireball.
He was also a fourth-grade student, and the only ninjutsu he had mastered so far was the Transformation Technique taught at the academy.
"This level of Fire Style jutsu is beyond what a student, no, even a genin should be capable of!" exclaimed a jonin teacher who specialized in Fire Style jutsu, unable to hide his astonishment.
The best he could do was on par with what Obito had just displayed.
"Indeed. It's no surprise coming from a student of the Uchiha clan," another teacher agreed.
The fireball continued to rain down on Might Guy, who dodged nimbly, retreating at high speed to escape the range of the Grand Fireball.
Kakashi quickly threw several shuriken to restrict Guy's movements, as the massive fireball couldn't change direction.
However, to Kakashi's surprise, Guy used his kunai to deflect all the shuriken, successfully evading the explosion.
"Good thing Kakashi's shuriken throwing skills aren't as good as Stop-Water's, or I would've been injured." Guy breathed a sigh of relief, grateful for his narrow escape.
In his battle with Stop-Water, the shuriken had been a constant nuisance.
Having experienced the oppressive might of Stop-Water, Guy found that Kakashi was now easier to deal with.
"The Grand Fireball is just too hard to hit people with. I should've used the Fire Dragon Bullet instead," Kakashi regretted his choice of jutsu.
He felt that the Fire Dragon Bullet would've been a better option, but he had won the Youth Ninja Competition using the Grand Fireball, and he wanted to win the top spot in the practical exam with the same technique.
However, Kakashi didn't have time for further reflection as Guy, seizing the opportunity, burst forward with chakra enhanced speed.
"Konoha Senpuu!"
Guy unleashed his signature kick, the most powerful in his arsenal.
"Guy, your speed is no match for Kakashi's Body Flicker Technique," Kakashi taunted with a smug smile as he evaded Guy's attack.
He found that Guy's taijutsu wasn't as formidable as he had anticipated.
Kakashi decided to engage Guy in close-quarters combat, confident in his superior strength and speed.
But he soon realized his mistake, as Guy proved to be stronger and faster, forcing Kakashi to retreat and rely solely on his agility to dodge Guy's relentless attacks.
"While Uchiha Kakashi excels in Fire Style jutsu, Might Guy is a master of taijutsu. If this continues, Uchiha Kakashi will lose," a teacher observed, noticing Kakashi's disadvantage.
Without utilizing his full array of strengths against Guy's taijutsu, victory was impossible.
Yuki Ike smiled but remained silent. As long as the winner was from his class, he didn't mind who it was. After all, the bonus would be his either way.
Watching the fight unfold according to her prediction, Mu Yue remained calm, unperturbed by the outcome.
In her opinion, it didn't matter who won, as both students had completed their cultivation tasks. She was more curious about the rewards they would receive.
"Konoha Dai Senpuu!"
Guy unleashed his most powerful kick yet, surpassing all his previous attempts.
Kakashi was caught off guard by Guy's sudden burst of speed and couldn't dodge in time, resulting in a direct hit that sent him flying several meters away.
"And the winner of the 4th-grade practical exam is Might Guy!" The proctor announced the end of the final exam.
As the exam concluded, Mu Yue's system notified her that the cultivation task had entered the settlement phase.
