Chapter 69: The Plague
Chapter 69: The Plague
In the study.
Su Nan put down the book in his hands and nodded slightly.
"Good job, all three of you have passed."
Upon hearing this, Xie Man, Kole, and Attila, who were standing in front of the desk, all heaved a sigh of relief.
"This is your reward."
With a wave of his hand, Su Nan sent three bottles of Lesser Energetic Elixir floating to each of them.
"These are Lesser Energetic Elixirs. They can enhance your mental activity, improve your meditation efficiency, and boost your learning ability. Each bottle will last for a month."
Xie Man and the others were delighted, their eyes sparkling as they looked at the elixirs in their hands.
According to the books, even a zero-grade elixir, a true wizard's elixir, had effects that were far beyond the imagination of ordinary people.
Especially an elixir that could improve meditation efficiency, which was incredibly valuable for wizard apprentices.
"Keep up the good work. If you pass the knowledge test next month, there will be more rewards."
After encouraging them a bit more, Su Nan waved them off.
"Those three are making good progress."
"Especially Xie Man. I thought his background might make him a bit slower than the others, but he's not lagging behind at all. It looks like the little guy has some potential."
A smile flashed across Su Nan's face.
At this rate, in about half a year, the three of them should be able to take on some of the base's responsibilities.
Leaving the courtyard, Su Nan headed straight for the training ground.
As expected, Koy was indeed practicing there, along with Brad and Jordon.
Considering the need to stabilize his strength and the fact that the Lesser Dragon Blood Elixir needed to be supplied to the Black Rock Cavalry, Koy hadn't asked Su Nan to make him any more dragon blood elixirs in the past half year.
As a result, he was still a Great Knight, and there were no signs of him breaking through yet.
However, a Great Knight at the age of twenty-one was an exceptional achievement in any country.
Brad and Jordon had both taken the Lesser Dragon Blood Elixir once.
Brad was showing signs of breaking through to the Great Knight rank.
Jordon had just broken through to the Peak Knight rank three months ago.
Noticing Su Nan's arrival, Koy immediately stopped his practice, took a towel from a servant to wipe the sweat from his brow, and smiled. "What brings you here today?"
"I have something for you."
Koy's eyes lit up immediately, and he asked eagerly, "What is it?"
Brad and Jordon also looked curious.
After all, every time Su Nan brought something out, it was always something beyond their wildest dreams.
This time would likely be no different.
Under the expectant gazes of everyone, a longsword suddenly appeared in Su Nan's hand.
The silver blade gleamed brightly in the sunlight, and the intricate patterns on its surface shimmered with an almost blinding luster.
"This is a magic-infused weapon."
Su Nan walked over to an iron target dummy and swung the sword with a powerful strike.
The others only saw a flash of light, and the next moment, they heard a sharp slicing sound. The iron target dummy was cut diagonally from the shoulder to the waist, the upper half crashing to the ground with a thud.
"This is..."
Koy drew a sharp breath.
As a long-time user of bladed weapons, he could clearly see how exceptional the sword in Su Nan's hand was.
The target dummy was made of black iron, an extremely hard material. An ordinary sword would leave at most a white scratch on its surface.
But under the blade of that sword, it was as fragile as tofu.
This demonstrated just how incredibly sharp the sword was!
Normally, with such a sharp blade, the cut would be perfectly smooth. However, the cut was actually uneven, with signs of melting.
Clearly, the sword had effects similar to flame damage.
"This sword is imbued with the Armor-Piercing enchantment."
"This sword has both the Armor-Piercing and Weak Fire Elemental Damage enchantments. Besides being far sharper than ordinary weapons, it also deals a weak fire elemental damage on impact," Su Nan explained as he sheathed the sword.
He had managed to create this weapon after three failed attempts, by first infusing it with the Armor-Piercing enchantment and then solidifying the Weak Fire Elemental Damage enchantment. This was the best magical weapon he had crafted so far, thanks to his Magic Item Creation skill reaching level 2. Currently, infusing two enchantments at once was the limit of his abilities. More would require a higher level in Magic Item Creation.
Koy, however, was already smitten with the sword. As he ran his fingers over the blade, he couldn't help but marvel at Su Nan's ingenuity. Each time, Su Nan brought something that left him in awe. The impact of such a weapon on a knight's combat effectiveness was undeniable. With this sword in hand, Koy felt confident enough to challenge even a mid-tier Great Knight.
Beside him, Brad and Jordon watched with envy as Koy handled the magical weapon. Noticing their expressions, Su Nan tossed each of them a magical weapon as well. Brad received a shield infused with Black Steel and Energy Focus, making it extremely durable and enhancing the power of his aura. Jordon got a sword with the same enchantments as Koy's: Sharpness and Weak Fire Elemental Damage.
Both Brad and Jordon were overjoyed, thanking Su Nan profusely.
"Can these weapons be mass-produced?" Koy asked, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Su Nan shook his head slightly. "Not these exact ones, but simpler versions with a single enchantment can be produced in larger quantities."
"Cost?" Koy inquired immediately. He was particularly sensitive to this aspect. The Flashlands were expanding their military and supporting Su Nan's base construction, which put a significant strain on their economy.
"About twenty gold coins each," Su Nan replied. The cost was low because he synthesized the magic stones himself, which were extremely inexpensive. Otherwise, the market value of a single magical weapon would be at least eighty gold coins, if not more.
Koy let out a relieved breath. Twenty gold coins wasn't too much. A standard fine steel longsword cost three to four gold coins, so a magical weapon being several times more expensive was quite reasonable. Still, equipping all the knights in the Flashlands with magical weapons would cost several thousand gold coins, a substantial expense.
Koy glanced at the weapon in his hand and began to consider whether they could open a new trade route by selling these weapons. Noticing his thoughts, Su Nan immediately shot down the idea. "I don't have the time to mass-produce magical weapons for sale."
Koy was disappointed but understood. Having a wizard apprentice work as a blacksmith would be a waste of talent.
After some thought, he decided to equip all the knights in the Flashlands with magical weapons first. Su Nan agreed and handed over the magical weapons he had crafted over the past few weeks, including the failed ones, for Koy to distribute.
Just as Su Nan was about to leave, he noticed Koy's secretary rushing into the training ground and handing him a scroll of parchment. Koy's brow furrowed as he read it.
"What's happened?" Su Nan asked, stopping in his tracks.
Koy took a deep breath and said gravely, "A plague has broken out in the Frostfall Province."
