Chapter 69: Masterful Skill
Chapter 69: Masterful Skill
"To tell you the truth, this wizard's body isn't much stronger or faster than a normal human's, but their resilience is definitely remarkable!"
Jerry, riding his flying broom, watched as Neville plummeted straight down from a height of several meters and couldn't help but let out a sigh.
If he remembered correctly, after Neville hit the ground, he only sustained some minor injuries. Madam Hooch helped him to the school infirmary for treatment, and by evening, he was completely recovered.
If it were a normal person, even a strong adult, falling from such a height would be quite dangerous.
Jerry adjusted the angle of his flying broom and swooped down, catching Neville's school uniform with precision as he was falling.
"Got him!"
The young wizards on the ground immediately burst into a chorus of gasps.
At that moment, the weight of Neville combined with the force of the fall caused Jerry to lose his balance, and it looked like he was about to be dragged off the flying broom.
This caused another round of shocked cries from Madam Hooch and the young wizards below.
But who was Jerry? He had been in similar situations before, having saved many people who attempted to jump from buildings while riding his flying broom.
He activated his Superman Mode, giving his body a sharp shake. His feet hooked onto the flying broom, instantly converting the downward force into a spinning motion. He performed several big spins on the broom, pulling Neville along with him.
Once he had neutralized all the forces, he safely reseated Neville on the flying broom.
"Hey, Neville, you really need to lose some weight!"
Jerry, now back in control of the flying broom, steered it toward the ground while chuckling at the Neville he was holding.
Neville's face was pale with fear, and he didn't respond to Jerry's jest. Instead, he burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably.
If Jerry hadn't saved him, he truly thought he was going to die.
Jerry gently placed Neville on the grass and dismounted the flying broom. The two of them were instantly surrounded by the young wizards.
Madam Hooch and the Gryffindor young wizards were mostly concerned with comforting Neville, while the Slytherin young wizards looked at Jerry with admiration.
Most of the Slytherin young wizards had been riding flying brooms since they were young, but they mostly flew in their backyards, at a height of only about three or four meters.
Tales of nearly hitting a Muggle helicopter were just exaggerated stories.
Young wizards who hadn't learned the Disguise Charm were strictly forbidden from riding flying brooms in the Muggle world; the Secrecy Act was no joke.
Unless, of course, they lived in a very remote area like the Weasley family.
So, Jerry's daring and thrilling flying broom rescue just now was truly impressive. It wasn't just a tall tale; it was a live demonstration.
Especially that flying broom big spin move—it was a technique they had never heard of, and it was incredibly cool!
They even thought that even at the World Quidditch Cup, they hadn't seen anyone perform such a difficult maneuver.
Using both feet to grip the flying broom and spin in the air while holding someone—was this something a human could actually do?
"Mr. Carmen just demonstrated exceptional flying broom skills and great bravery by saving Mr. Longbottom from his mistake. Very well done, very impressive. I will award Slytherin ten points!"
Seeing that Neville was only overly frightened and had no physical injuries, Madam Hooch heaved a deep sigh of relief and then loudly announced to Jerry:
As the flying lesson instructor, if Neville had died, she would have been held responsible, and her conscience would never have forgiven her.
So, Madam Hooch was genuinely grateful for Jerry's rescue of Neville.
Moreover, Jerry's flying broom technique had truly impressed her. For someone riding a flying broom for the first time to display such skill, the potential was undeniable—definitely a promising candidate for the Quidditch pitch!
"Amazing!"
Slytherin immediately gained ten points, and all the young wizards, including Draco Malfoy, couldn't help but applaud.
When someone is just as good as you, you might still try to compete with them. But when they are so exceptionally talented that it makes you feel a bit hopeless, your thoughts might start to shift.
At that moment, Jerry gave Draco Malfoy that very feeling.
In terms of academic ability, Jerry excelled in every subject, even surpassing him in potions, which was Draco's forte.
In terms of magical ability, Jerry could already cast all the spells from the Transfiguration and Charms textbooks, while Draco, despite his background, could only manage a third of them.
In terms of fighting, Jerry could take on Draco, Goyle, and Crabbe all at once and still come out on top.
Now, even in flying, the one area where Draco thought he could outshine Jerry, the hope of winning seemed slim, especially since Jerry was a complete novice today.
How could he compete?
He had always resented Harry, opposing him, because Harry had the fame of defeating the Dark Lord, yet didn't seem particularly brilliant to him.
In fact, he often felt that Harry was inferior in many aspects, especially in potions.
Most importantly, as a pure-blood wizard, Harry should have joined Slytherin but instead chose Gryffindor, preferring to be friends with the Weasleys, who were considered traitors, rather than with the noble Draco.
"See, I told you Jerry is the best!"
At this moment, Daphne from Slytherin glanced smugly at Pansy.
Pansy, watching Jerry, who was still smiling under the applause of the crowd, couldn't help but nod:
"I admit, he is indeed different!"
On the other side, the Gryffindor young wizards, though a bit disappointed by the points awarded to Slytherin, still clapped.
Jerry's actions had genuinely impressed them, and the fact that he risked his own safety to save a Gryffindor young wizard left them no reason not to applaud.
Gryffindors were not known for their pettiness.
Ten minutes later, the class returned to normal. Neville, still shaken from his experience, sat on the sidelines to rest, while the other young wizards, under Madam Hooch's guidance, began practicing their flying at a height of two to three meters.
At this height, with the soft grass below, even a fall wouldn't be too serious.
However, everyone was doing well, with only a few wobbling slightly, while the rest were quite steady.
"Slow down, don't rush, just keep the direction steady!"
Jerry rode his flying broom beside Hermione, carefully guiding her through the flight, while on the other side, Malfoy and Harry, both riding for the first time, were locked in a competitive duel.
Despite being a novice, Harry showed great talent and matched Draco in every aspect, which left Draco feeling extremely frustrated.
Losing to Jerry was one thing, but losing to Harry was absolutely unacceptable.
