Chapter 69: Golden Epic Adorns and the Arrival of Xue Wenli
"Congratulations on successfully passing the ‘Advanced Scholar Examination’ and welcome to the Scholar’s Hall of Scholar's Temple!"
Welcome to the Grand Hall of the Scholar's Temple.
High Mage Alexander approached Su Yu with a warm smile, pinning a beautifully packaged badge to his chest.
Advanced Scholar Badge (Golden Epic)
Adornment:
- Trait 1: Gain Intelligence = Your current level x 1.
- Trait 2: Gain Mana = Your current level x 20.
- Trait 3: Additional Skill [Clear Mind]: Remove a designated control effect, cooldown 120 seconds.
- Trait 4: Additional Skill [Insight (Passive)]: Immune to [Charm], [Confusion], and other charm-based negative states.
Note: The control effects in Trait 3 include knockback, dizziness, unconsciousness, freezing, and transformation into a sheep. Bleeding and poisoning are not included.
This adornment is already incredibly powerful!
Just Traits 1 and 2 alone grant Su Yu 11 points of magical strength and 220 points of mana. The mana can further enhance his magical strength when combined with [Tear of the Goddess], making him even more formidable as he progresses.
Traits 3 and 4 significantly boost Su Yu's ability to survive control effects, ensuring he doesn't get overwhelmed and killed by monsters.
In the hall, the scholars watched as the badge was pinned to Su Yu's chest, their expressions filled with admiration and respect.
"An Advanced Scholar, huh!"
Most of them were either Junior or Intermediate scholars. Passing the 'Advanced Scholar Examination' was a significant achievement, one that could make a lifetime of effort worthwhile.
No one expected Su Yu to pass so easily, and at such a young age!
Haimlek also looked at Su Yu with a complex expression.
He had read the invitation letter and initially thought Su Yu was just another ordinary adventurer.
But he hadn't anticipated that Su Yu would be so formidable, passing the examination that took him years to prepare for in silence!
"Sir Alexander, how many questions did he answer correctly?" Haimlek asked.
"26, far more than you did."
"26?!" Haimlek's mouth dropped open, momentarily at a loss for words.
He had prepared thoroughly and still only managed to answer 22 questions correctly. Su Yu had answered 4 more!
A wave of astonishment swept through the hall, the scholars looking at Su Yu with disbelief.
26 questions!
It was rare for the Temple to produce an Advanced scholar with such a score, perhaps once every 20 years!
"Do all adventurers from your world possess such remarkable knowledge?" Haimlek felt his mind starting to unravel.
If all adventurers from the other world were as learned as Su Yu, and also incredibly wealthy, able to casually spend 100 million spirit coins, would the natives of this world have any chance to survive?
Hearing Haimlek's question, Sage Alexander also turned to Su Yu with a curious gaze.
"Of course not, I'm an exception," Su Yu quickly explained.
"Most adventurers are not much different from you. We are quite friendly. As long as you post a commission and offer and reward, we will will enthusiastic to help."
I3 "3.
"That's good to hear."
Realizing Su Yu was telling the truth, Haimlek let out a sigh of relief.
He walked up to Su Yu and bowed deeply with a heartfelt apology. "I apologize for my earlier words. I shouldn't have dismissed you so rashly."
"To make amends, I offer this to you. Please, do not refuse it."
As Haimleklek finished speaking,
"Ding! You have triggered a Rare Hidden Quest: [Haimlek's ApApAp
”
Mission Reward: Epic Scroll of Sheepification, 100 Experience Points.
“Don’t worry about it! If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t be willing to risk it either. I completely understand your decision. Knowledge and books are our best weapons!”
Thanks to the Epic Scroll of Sheepification, Su Yu readily forgged Him.. mistake. He made. he decision to forgive Heimlek.
Moreover, he tailored his words to Heimlek’s liking.
“You’re right! Knowledge and books are our greatest weapons! Let the merchant nobles go to the devil!”
Heimlek, feeling like he had found a kindred spirit, walked up and tightly grasped Su Yu’s hands.
“Ding! Heimlek’s Goodwill towards you +10.”
Su Yu: “?!”
“May I ask, are you married?” Su Yu whispered.
“To what end? I got married ten years ago, and I have three kids.” Heimlek looked utterly baffled.
Su Yu: “.”
Then what good does your increased goodwill do!
For the next hour, which was half a day in-game time, Su Yu stayed at the Scholar’s Sanctuary.
The sanctuary held a grand welcome and celebration ceremony for him. Apart from the Arcane Mage Alex, other senior scholars also came to offer their congratulations.
Su Yu’s reputation at the Scholar’s Sanctuary skyrocketed, shooting up from neutral to revered.
Once his reputation reached revered, he could purchase more valuable items.
The ceremony lasted an hour, until Su Yu had to leave to meet the princess. Heimlek and the others reluctantly let him go.
Leaving the sanctuary, Su Yu prepared to ride Timar to the palace.
But just as he was about to leave, he felt a faint tapping sensation in his palm.
The tapping heightened his alertness.
This signal was from the real world!
Su Yu quickly found a quiet place and clicked to exit the game.
In the real world, in his rented apartment.
Su Yu removed his helmet and sat up from the bed.
Knock knock knock!
The sound of knocking echoed in his ears.
“Who is it?”
“Is this Mr. Su Yu? I’m a department head, and I’d like to have a word with you.”
A crisp, cold female voice came from outside the door.
Department head? They found me this quickly?
Su Yu channeled his magic and probed outside the door, discovering a woman of about twenty-six, dressed casually, with a beautiful and striking appearance.
He glanced at the opposite building, finding no signs of a sniper, which relieved him.
“Hang on a moment, I’ll tidy up.”
Su Yu stood up, put on his coat, and stashed his laser gun in the wardrobe.
After a quick tidy, he prepared to open the door.
But just as he grasped the doorknob, his expression changed, and a smirk appeared on his lips:
“Miss, if I were you, I’d put the gun away first to at least show some sincerity for negotiation.”
The woman outside the door, naturally, was Xue Wenli, Zhong Feng’s deputy.
Hearing Su Yu’s words, she was taken aback: “There are no surveillance cameras around, and I didn’t make a sound when I drew my gun. How did he know?”
But she was a decisive person.
Xue Wenli removed the magazine from her gun and dropped it on the ground: “Now can we talk?”
“Of course.” Su Yu opened the door.
