Chapter 685: Four Unlucky Souls
Chapter 685: Four Unlucky Souls
Little Tian had a smooth start. Her teleportation location was not only safe but also very close to the country of Beike. This might have been her good luck at work.
Other players weren’t as fortunate.
In the heart of a massive ocean in the southern part of the Skrul Star, Zhong Feng transformed into his [Eagle Form] and soared above the waves. However, his sharp eagle eyes were filled with melancholy.
The ocean stretched endlessly without any obstacles, and his flight altitude allowed him to see up to 60-70 kilometers in every direction. The problem was, there wasn’t a single continent or even a small island in sight. Stranger still, the ocean was mostly filled with ordinary fish, not a single intelligent, high-level fish to be found.
This left him completely unsure of which direction to fly.
"Fine, I’ll just head straight in one direction. Skrul Star is round, so I’m bound to find land eventually."
He stopped thinking and focused on a direction, accelerating his flight like a "Columbus of the Eagle Realm."
...
Deep in the Wildlands, Ice Black Tea stumbled out of a dense forest, falling to his knees and gasping for breath. His entire left side was drenched in blood, and his once strong and slender arms trembled uncontrollably. The dagger in his hand was almost slipping from his grip.
Sweat poured down his forehead like a waterfall, a stark contrast to his usual elegant assassin persona.
This disaster was mainly due to his teleportation location, which just happened to be right next to a high-level, sixth-rank bear-type magical beast.
The bear-type magical beast, naturally, did not take kindly to this intruder.
As soon as Ice Black Tea appeared, a pair of massive paws, accompanied by a deafening roar, came hurtling towards him.
If it had been just this one sixth-rank magical beast, it wouldn’t have been a problem. Assassins have strong survival skills and can always run if they can’t fight.
But the issue was that he wasn’t just up against one sixth-rank magical beast. This place was clearly the den of a magical beast clan, with two to three dozen bear-type magical beasts of various sizes surrounding him!
The bear-type magical beasts were surprised to see Ice Black Tea.
Was this a gift from their ancestors?
Ice Black Tea’s heart sank.
This was a hellish start!
In the dens of magical beasts in the Wildlands, there are usually detection arrays set up to counter stealth skills, to prevent young ones from being stolen by stealthy magical beasts.
Because of this, Ice Black Tea couldn’t use stealth to escape and had to rely on his raw strength to break out.
After a grueling half-hour battle, he managed to escape the den.
But the cost was immense. He was severely injured and had used two of the [Master-Level Life Recovery Potions] given to him by Su Yu, each worth 6 million Spirit Coins.
Kneeling in the forest, gasping for breath, he felt utterly defeated.
"Such a loss! I’ve already lost two Master-Level Life Recovery Potions, worth 6 million Spirit Coins, without any gains!"
His heart ached as if it were bleeding.
After resting for another half-hour, he finally recovered. He stood up, adjusted his equipment, and used his [Stealth] skill to cautiously move forward.
"No matter what, I’ve suffered significant losses. I need to make a big score from the Skrulians, or I’ll have wasted those two potions!" he thought.
But just then, a massive shadow appeared on the ground, and the surrounding light dimmed significantly.
Looking up, he saw a giant flying magical beast, at least 40 meters long, descending towards him!
...
In a live volcano near the polar region of the northern part of Skrul Star.
Plunk!
Cloudy Shepherd, shielded by the Frost Shield, shot out of the volcano's mouth like a scorched duck, moving at breakneck speed.
Now, his Frost Shield was only a thin layer, and he had used up the majority of his mana.
He was wearing the Lighthouse Frost set, a gift from Su Yu. The light blue cloth armor, now charred black, made him look no different from a roasted duck.
"Damn, how could the volcano be so complicated? If I hadn’t guessed the exit’s position correctly, I would have become the first player on Blue Star to be burned alive by a volcano. What a disgrace!" Cloudy Shepherd’s face was black with soot.
After being teleported to Skrull, he immediately found himself in a pool of scorching lava.
The teleportation rules stated that players would always land on the surface, never underground.
So, seeing the lava, he quickly realized he had been teleported into a volcano.
Fortunately, with his sixth-tier strength and the significant ice-element bonuses from his gear, he could swim through the lava for a long time without being burned alive.
However, what he hadn’t anticipated was the volcano’s surprisingly complex internal structure.
According to his initial plan, if he was in a volcano, swimming upward should be the right way to go.
But to his surprise, he soon found a massive rock blocking the way above him. The lava was flowing irregularly, making it impossible to determine the volcano’s mouth.
Moreover, being inside the volcano severely limited his perception abilities, and his teleportation skill was completely useless. This made his journey through the volcano feel like navigating a maze! It took him over an hour to finally find the volcano’s mouth.
Flying out of the volcano, Cloudy Shepherd gulped down the sulfur-laden air, his heart filled with the joy of surviving a near-death experience.
"I must be the unluckiest player on Blue Star. Getting teleported into a volcano and almost burned alive... No, I have to warn other players about how complex the volcano’s interior is when I get back."
Cloudy Shepherd didn’t dare to look back at the volcano, fearing it would bring back painful memories.
He flew low to the ground, heading south quickly.
Although this volcano was close to Skrull’s North Pole and the climate was cold, the soil near the volcano was incredibly fertile. Several large agricultural bases were situated on the southern slopes of the volcano.
Cloudy Shepherd planned to enter one of these bases, grab someone, and then figure out his next move.
...
Actually, Cloudy Shepherd and Ice Black Tea weren’t the unluckiest. The truly unfortunate one was Thousand CupsNotDrunk, who rarely spoke.
Upon completing his teleportation, Thousand Cups Not Drunk immediately found himself in a grand, palace-like structure.
And this palace... it looked strangely familiar.
It took him just 0.1 seconds to recall where he had seen it before!
This wasn’t a palace; it was the national museum of the Runkte Alliance, the lair of the legendary powerhouse, Steam!
He had recently studied the video footage of Su Yu’s epic battle in this museum.
At the time, he had thought—how amazing it would be if he could cause chaos in the enemy’s heart like Commander Ke!
But he never imagined that someone had granted him this “wish” by teleporting him right into the enemy’s heart!
