Chapter 683: Tee Ascends
Chapter 683: Tee Ascends
“Ha-ha-ha-ha!”
Almost as Sagel burst into laughter, on the other side of the New World, a ship made of giant logs docked beside the towering red cliffs of the Red Line. The logs pressed against the rock, resisting the waves and currents.
Tee, wearing only a captain’s cloak over his bare chest covered in thick black hair, reached out to touch the cliff face and laughed.
“The Inferno Serpent, so this is what it is. I didn’t realize it before, but now I see how massive it is, truly dividing the world!”
“Muh-huh-huh, this isn’t the time to marvel, Tee. We’ve fallen so far that we’re using logs for a ship, and we don’t even have new clothes to wear. We’re at the end of the line. No ships pass by here, and if we keep this up, we’ll be stuck with these red rocks forever.”
Depp fanned his dirty collar, his tone disdainful but his face twisted in a strange grin.
“There are still ships.”
Van Okka lowered his sniper rifle with a telescope and said coolly, “But they fly Sagel’s Worldslider flag. If we encounter them, Sagel will know exactly where we are.”
“Ha-ha-ha, that’s not a good idea, Depp. Just bear with it,” Tee laughed loudly.
“Oh-ho-ho, we’ve come this far, so I’m sure we’ll get a resolution soon. Just like during the Marineford War, Admiral Tee,” Rafite twirled his cane.
Behind them, Shirao exhaled a puff of smoke and said to Kuzan, “Hey, Kuzan, do you really think they’ll come? The World Government has never been this generous.”
Kuzan didn’t respond but glanced at Garp, who was bound to the ship’s central mast, his hands, feet, and shoulder joints pierced and frozen in ice. Then he looked up, staring at the sky.
Since their defeat at Honeycomb Island and their hasty escape, they had lost even their ship.
They knew their own situation well. Sagel still treated them as a unified force, like the remnants of Red Hair’s crew.
But in reality, as a loose pirate alliance, once the ‘leader’ was in trouble, they would scatter like grains of sand, each going their own way.
Tee’s failure meant the loss of Honeycomb Island, and the pirates who had gathered under his banner due to his strength and symbolism now dispersed.
Only those who had genuinely benefited and needed the flag to maintain their pirate bases and towns remained. The others had already raised their original flags and continued their pirate lives as if Blackbeard had never existed.
If Tee didn’t defeat Sagel, the Blackbeard Pirates would find it very difficult to regain their power on the seas.
This was one of the reasons they were here.
Now, the Blackbeard Pirates were down to just a few of them.
Kuzan could have freed Garp and continued wandering, but some things could only be clarified by Tee.
Suddenly, a cloud descended from the sky, rolling down to the log ship. The cloud, like shapeless cotton candy, gradually formed into a series of white cloud steps.
“Should we climb up? It’s quite a distance.”
Despite his words, Tee bared his toothless grin and stepped onto the cloud ladder.
In the next instant, the cloud ladder began to move on its own, carrying Tee upward without him needing to lift a foot.
The others followed suit, stepping onto the cloud ladder.
“Is it automatic? I hope there aren’t any slaves inside,” Shirao sneered.
He was familiar with the famous ‘automatic walkway’ at Mariejoa, after all.
Kuzan created a sort of sleigh from ice, securing Garp and then bringing him and Shirao along for the ride.
“No,” Kuzan said as soon as they stepped on, “it feels real, but once you step on, it becomes a bit illusory. This strange sensation is from Chilin-Gom.”
“Chilin-Gom?” Shirao asked, puzzled. “I’ve never heard of that name.”
“The Divine Knights.”
Kuzan’s words made Shirao’s eyes widen in shock.
“Oh,” he exhaled a long breath, “I’ve heard of that name. Shimizu’s strongest sword. So, they have this kind of power? To release abilities from such a height, I always thought Shimizu only ruled the world through our vast institutions.”
The Marineford, Impel Down, Enies Lobby, along with the World Government’s ‘Army’ and ‘Air Force,’ form the largest institution that should be the World Government’s greatest reliance.
"You underestimate them too much."
Kuzan said, "The World Government, which has ruled for so long, wouldn’t be able to sustain so many things if it relied solely on these institutions. Their deep roots mean that the emergence of any powerful figure wouldn’t be surprising."
"The Valley of the Gods isn’t as distant from us as you might think. Apart from that one time, their ‘hunts’ have been irregular, but before that, the hunts continued consistently. The descendants of the Twenty Kings, the nineteen families that reached the pinnacle, have maintained the existence of the Divine Knights for eight hundred years."
"You can’t say that such a long history wouldn’t produce a shocking figure."
Kuzan looked at the rapidly ascending cloud ladder and said, "Coincidentally, I know some things, like this Chilin-Gom. His ability is to materialize beings from others’ dreams, no matter how exaggerated or false they may be."
"Dreams?"
Shirao frowned, thinking of something, "Totomujika."
"Ah", Kuzan responded, "That incident. I always felt that if Sager hadn’t resolved it, the World Government would have stepped in to handle it. It would have just turned into dealing with two instead of one. Summoning Totomujika from a dream, he should have that kind of power."
As for how to deal with Totomujika, Sager had already demonstrated it.
That level of strength is still achievable on the high seas.
The cloud ladder ascended very quickly. Before long, everyone reached the massive Steps below Marineford. Shirao looked up along the Steps and could only see the cloud ladder gradually disappearing at the end, with a faint glimpse of a long-necked figure before it vanished.
"Ha ha ha, it’s been a while, Marineford!"
Tee laughed loudly, "Last time, I came as a Shichibukai, then I became one of the Four Emperors. So this time, will I become a king?"
As he spoke, he strode towards the Steps, reaching the top where the gates were already open. A black-clad attendant, hands behind his back, saw the group and silently led them to the location of the Pang Palace.
"Ha ha ha, still the same old place. This time, I’m going to meet the Five Elders, right? I heard one of them has changed. Hey, do you think I might become a Shimizu and join the Five Elders? The royal family of Alabasta is gone, so it shouldn’t matter if I fill in, right?"
Tee laughed as he followed the black-clad attendant into the palace gates.
Kuzan, who was at the back, was about to enter but suddenly stopped, turning his head to look behind. Not far away, Akainu was leaning in a corner with his arms crossed, his head lowered and his face obscured by his hat, making it impossible to read his expression.
"Kuzan."
After a while, Akainu slowly spoke.
"Ah, this outfit suits you well."
Kuzan scratched his head, "White, with a flower. Compared to that, I look rather plain."
"What are you up to!"
Akainu didn’t move closer, just glanced at Kuzan and then at Garp, who was being dragged on an ice sled. Although his voice was low, it was filled with barely contained anger.
"Not only have you fallen to the level of associating with Pirates, but you’re even dragging Garp along, disgracing yourself completely!"
"Ah, that’s not quite right. At least now I’m entering here as a Pirate, and Tee might still accomplish his plans."
Kuzan shrugged, "As for you, being Fleet Admiral isn’t as easy as you and I imagined. The current situation is quite troublesome."
With that, he ignored Akainu and dragged Garp into the palace, the gates slowly closing behind him, leaving Akainu outside.
Akainu clenched his fists, his knuckles turning red, his determined face tightening as if he were a volcano about to erupt.
But even the largest volcano has something pressing down on it, preventing it from erupting.
Just like this meeting, no matter how much he opposed it, it was futile.
The Five Elders were determined to see Blackbeard, and it wasn’t even because of Garp.
"It shouldn’t be this way! The Navy shouldn’t be this way!"
Akainu took a deep breath, left a parting word, and turned to leave.
Inside the Pang Palace, the others were led to different rooms by the soldiers, while Tee was guided to the Chamber of Power. There, the five old men were each in their own poses, waiting for Tee to enter.
"First meeting, huh? Hahahaha!"
Tee was initially taken aback, then laughed, "Should I feel honored to finally meet all the highest powers of the World Government? I brought Garp, so are you guys ready to agree to my terms?"
"Marshall D. Tee, the Blackbeard."
Marz, hands in his pockets, said coolly, "You should know some rules when meeting us."
"Right, you’re not like Sagel."
Peter added, "After all, he’s the strongest among the pirates, and only someone of his caliber can speak to us on equal terms. You’re still a bit short."
"Hahahaha, even the Five Elders acknowledge this."
Tee sneered, "My dear Aibo, you’ve grown so strong. If I had known, I wouldn’t have gone to Ohara. That way, Red Hair could have completed his mission, and Sagel would have still revealed all the landmarks. But there’s no if in the world."
He didn’t care about his image; he never had one to begin with. He plopped down on the ground and taunted the five elders, "So, why did you meet with me? If you’re planning to kill me, it will only make Sagel more uncontrollable. I’m the only one in this sea who can match him on a pirate level!"
"Can’t deny that."
Worley said, "That’s one of the reasons we met with you. Of course, you have to hand over Garp. As for your conditions, we can’t agree to them. A Pirate Kingdom is impossible; it would cause dissatisfaction among the allied nations. However, giving you a place in the New World to start over is something we can consider."
"Hahahaha, I won’t agree to that! It’s just a meaningless struggle. I’m not a match for my dear Aibo right now. I know you and Sagel have a deal, but can’t you work with me? We’re both pirates!"
Tee’s big eyes glared at the small eyes of the elders, sneering, "I’m different from him. He’s a beast driven by deep desires, but my ambitions can be temporarily satisfied if given enough."
"The position of an allied nation is impossible; you’ve already lost."
Nas Shurou tapped his forehead, "With your territory about to be swallowed, it’s too naive to think you can secure an allied nation position just by bringing a few people. But you’re needed to contain Sagel!"
Tee shouted, "Only I can do it! Territory can be rebuilt. With my abilities, I can create any kind of followers. Just like—"
His lips curled, and a hint of mystery appeared on his sneering face, "Just like you exist!"
Clang!
As he finished speaking, a flash of cold light appeared before Tee, transforming into a thin sword that pressed against his neck.
Garin, gripping the hilt, looked down at Tee, whose face remained unchanged, "What do you know?"
"Hahahaha, be careful, the sword is very sharp."
Tee laughed, reaching out to slowly push the blade away, then smiled at them, "I know a lot. If you want me to deal with Sagel, give me that power too!"
He stood up, no longer facing the Five Elders but as if speaking into the air, "Hey! I’m willing to serve under you. Give me that power, and I’ll help you maintain the current balance! Admit it, you have too many troubles right now!"
"Worldslider, the Revolutionary Army, the pirates, and the Sun God! I can handle all of them! Give me that power, and let me meet you, the true master behind it all!"
As he spoke, the shadows under the feet of the four elders, except Garin, began to stretch and twist.
But in the next instant, their movements froze.
"Bring him here."
A strange voice echoed in their ears.
Garin and the others, including Garin, all knelt, placing a hand on their chests, and respectfully replied, "Yes!"
"Hahaha, hahaha, hahaha! My guess was right!"
Tee laughed, "You really do exist! The true monster that has been around since the World Government was founded!"
...
A few days later.
Ohara.
"Sagel!"
In the large bathhouse, Sagel had just lifted his head, his feet outstretched to enjoy the massage from the attendants, when Lily’s urgent voice rang out from behind.
"Tee has declared himself king!"
