Chapter 681: Inherited Abilities, Dragon's Sanctuary, Shizuru's Second Pokemon
Chapter 681: Inherited Abilities, Dragon's Sanctuary, Shizuru's Second Pokemon
The education system in the Pokemon world is quite unique, vastly different from the one in Shizuru's previous life.
There are no elementary, middle, or high schools; instead, there are kindergartens, academies, and universities.
Kindergarten is for children aged 6 to 9, where they learn basic Pokemon knowledge, common sense, and how to read and write.
When children turn ten, they face two choices.
One is to receive their starter Pokemon and embark on a journey, exploring the world with their own two feet.
The other is to enroll in a Pokemon academy for advanced studies, learning more about Pokemon.
Paldea is home to Paldea Academy, and there are similar institutions in other regions.
Universities, on the other hand, are for researchers, Pokemon scholars, professors, and scientists.
Shizuru is only four years old and not yet of school age.
However, Shizuru, Ki Shu, and the Rotom Phone have already started teaching her how to recognize simple words.
But more importantly, they are guiding Shizuru on how to better utilize the Dragon and Eternal Powers.
Winter has finally arrived in the Paldea region.
After a heavy snowfall, the entire ranch is covered in thick snowdrifts.
Today's weather is pleasant, with clear skies and warm afternoon sunshine.
The Pokemon on the ranch are joyfully running outside, playing in the snow.
They build snowmen, have snowball fights, and play hide-and-seek in the snow labyrinth, enjoying themselves immensely.
Ki Shu stays at home, tending to her pregnancy.
Shizuru, on the other hand, follows her father into the snowy outdoors.
"Dad, what are we going to play today?" Shizuru eagerly anticipates the upcoming activity.
Will they build a giant snowman or engaged in an exciting snowball fight? Shizuru's father, sensing her thoughts, smiles and shakes his head, saying, "Neither."
"Huh? What are we going to do then?" Shizuru is puzzled.
"Today, I'm going to teach you how to better use the two powers within you," Shizuru's father says as he crouches down. He signals to the Gogoat, which runs over, and then instructs, "Come, place your hand on the Gogoat's head."
Shizuru obediently follows his instructions.
"Now, close your eyes and use your heart to communicate with the Gogoat, sensing its thoughts," her father gently guides her.
With her eyes closed, Shizuru asks in her mind, "Gogoat, can you hear Shizuru's voice?"
"Agasy~"
Soon, Shizuru hears the Gogoat's call.
Through her hand on the Gogoat's head, Shizuru clearly senses the Gogoat's thoughts.
It thinks, "I heard you!"
"Wow!" Shizuru is amazed.
Shizuru opens her eyes wide, and she sees her right hand emitting a faint green glow.
Seeing this, her father is taken aback.
Did she learn it in one go? Has Shizuru mastered the Eternal Power so quickly?
A genius! These two words flash through her father's mind.
Could it be because of the Tree House? That magical tree seems to benefit not only Pokemon but humans as well.
"Dad, what is this light?" Shizuru asks curiously.
Her father snaps back to reality and explains, "This is the Eternal Power, a gift from nature. With this power, when you place your hand on a Pokemon's head, you can communicate with them without speaking, sensing their thoughts."
"Moreover, this power allows you to heal Pokemon's injuries. When a Pokemon is hurt, you can treat them."
"Eternal Power..." Shizuru has never heard of this power before, and she mutters to herself, then asks excitedly, "So when Skrelp is injured, we won't need Life Milk anymore?"
She has been training Skrelp according to the notebook's methods, and although some parts are still unclear, her mother and Rotom are always there to explain.
Her father nods, "That's right."
"Wow!" Shizuru is delighted, "Then I won't have to worry about Skrelp getting injured anymore!"
Her father pats her head, "But this power has its limits. Overuse can make our bodies weak, so it's best to use Life Milk for healing Pokemon unless it's an emergency."
"Do you understand?"
Shizuru thinks carefully and then nods, "Shizuru understands!"
She looks up at her father, standing against the light, his eyes gentle as he looks at her, gently stroking her head. Years later, Shizuru will still remember this scene vividly.
Her father smiles, "Now, I'll teach you about another power."
"It's called the Dragon Power," he says, placing his hand over hers to guide the Dragon Power within her into the Gogoat.
"Dragon Power?" Shizuru asks, confused.
"It's a mysterious power that helps Dragon Pokemon grow faster and creates a telepathic connection with them," her father explains. "With this power, you can assist the Dragon Pokemon around you, making them stronger and larger."
"I see..." Little Tree carefully recalled the attributes of Skrelp.
"Dad mentioned that Skrelp is a Bug and Fire-type Pokemon, right?"
Little Tree frowned, "But I don't have a Dragon-type Pokemon with me..." She felt a bit troubled, wondering if this power would be useless without a Dragon-type partner.
"Actually, there are many Swift Dragons at our home," Shizuru added.
Swift Dragons? Little Tree immediately thought of the ones that delivered goods to the ranch daily.
She shook her head firmly and said, "Swift Dragons are Dad's Pokemon!"
Shizuru understood her concern and clarified, "To be precise, on the World Tree, there's an island where many Swift Dragons live. You probably haven't been there yet. It's located on the floor below the Explorers Guild."
Little Tree's attention was instantly captivated by this revelation.
Shizuru continued, "When you're a bit older, we can go to Swift Dragon Island together. If you show your strength to the Swift Dragons and earn their recognition, perhaps a Minin Dragon baby will be willing to become your Pokemon and travel with you."
"A Minin Dragon baby..." Little Tree was filled with curiosity. "What do they look like?"
The Minin Dragons and Hakurons at the ranch had all evolved into Swift Dragons and joined the delivery team, so Little Tree hadn't seen any Minin Dragons before.
Hearing this, Shizuru raised his eyebrows slightly and asked, "Do you want to meet them?"
Little Tree nodded vigorously and replied loudly, "Yes!"
Shizuru thought for a moment and realized that there wasn't much for him to do at the ranch, especially since it was winter, and the temperature was still quite cold.
On the other hand, Swift Dragon Island enjoyed spring-like weather all year round, making it an ideal place to take Little Tree and introduce her to the Swift Dragons.
This way, when she grew up, she might be able to travel with a Minin Dragon or Hakuron companion.
"In that case, I'll take you to Swift Dragon Island to see those Minin Dragons," Shizuru decided.
Little Tree was filled with anticipation.
Without further ado, Shizuru informed Ki Shu and the Three Deities that he would be taking Little Tree to the World Tree. The Three Deities nodded, indicating they would wait at the ranch.
Finally, with Skrelp by her side, Little Tree followed Shizuru through Regidrago's Reverse World and arrived at the region where the Swift Dragons resided.
The sky was a brilliant azure, the sea was clear, and golden sunlight danced on the waves, creating a mesmerizing sight. In the distance, a circular solitary island stood tall.
The island was lush with dense green vegetation, and at its center, a round lake nestled peacefully.
Swift Dragons could be seen flying from the island from time to time, and upon closer inspection, numerous Minin Dragons and Hakurons were frolicking and playing in the water on the island's sandy beach.
The entire region exuded a vibrant and lively atmosphere.
Shizuru surmised that the absence of danger in this region allowed the Swift Dragons to relax, unlike their cautious behavior in the wild. They felt secure enough to let the Minin Dragons and Hakurons venture out from the central lake to play by the sea.
Little Tree's attention was quickly drawn to the Pokemon playing on the beach.
"Wow!" she exclaimed.
"Those are Minin Dragons," Shizuru explained with a smile. "The smaller ones are Minin Dragons, and the larger ones are Hakurons. They are the evolved forms of Minin Dragons."
"Minin Dragons... Hakurons..." Little Tree repeated the names softly to herself.
At that moment, the group of Minin Dragons and Hakurons noticed them.
Several Hakurons recognized Shizuru and flew over, calling out happily.
The remaining Minin Dragons appeared young and naive, likely having hatched from their eggs within the last two years, held a hint of curiosity.
"You've already evolved into Hakurons?" Shizuru asked, gently patting the heads of the Hakurons.
"Wuu!" they replied.
The Hakurons nodded enthusiastically, proud of their training efforts.
"You're amazing!" Shizuru praised them sincerely.
The Hakurons seemed pleased.
It was then that they noticed the adorable human girl standing next to Shizuru.
"Wuu?" they wondered.
Far from being afraid, the Hakurons approached Little Tree, their large eyes filled with curiosity.
"This is Little Tree, my daughter," Shizuru introduced her with a smile.
"Wuu?" The Hakurons were surprised to learn that Shizuru had a child.
Without hesitation, the Hakurons surrounded Little Tree.
"Little Tree, say hello to the Hakurons," Shizuru prompted, turning to his daughter.
"Hello, Hakurons! I'm Little Tree!" she greeted them.
"Wuu~!" The Dragon Pokemon naturally felt close to humans with the power to command them.
Additionally, Little Tree carried Shizuru's scent, which made the Hakurons even more comfortable.
Before long, the Hakurons were playing happily with Little Tree.
The Minin Dragons nearby looked on enviously, eager to join in the fun.
Just then, Little Tree extended an invitation to them.
"Minin Dragons, do you want to play with me?" she asked.
The Minin Dragons looked at the girl before them and nodded excitedly. "Wuu~!"
Little Tree and the Minin Dragons built sandcastles on the beach.
Shizuru and Gogoat stood by, watching for a while. Suddenly, he felt the urge to explore the Swift Dragon Island and see how the Swift Dragons were living there.
"Gogoat, stay here and keep an eye on Little Tree. Make sure she doesn't fall into the water," Shizuru instructed.
"Agasy?" Gogoat looked at him.
"I'm just going to walk around this island for a bit. I'll be back soon," Shizuru said.
"Agasy..." Gogoat wanted to join him but agreed to stay, choosing to watch over its little master.
Shizuru began his solo exploration of the Swift Dragon Island.
It had been two years since his last visit, and while much time had passed, the environment on the island had barely changed.
He saw the fruit forest he had planted with the Swift Dragons, the familiar island heart lake, and some of the working Swift Dragons resting on the island.
At the other end of the island, Shizuru encountered the Giant Swift Dragon and the Swift Dragon Elder.
The Giant Swift Dragon happily expressed its gratitude to Shizuru for bringing it to the island and introducing it to so many companions.
It was very happy living there.
The Swift Dragon Elder, an elderly member of the Swift Dragon clan, also thanked Shizuru.
With Shizuru's help, the Swift Dragon clan was thriving and becoming more prosperous!
Moreover, the Swift Dragons on the island lived happily every day, and there was an abundance of delicious food.
The Swift Dragon Elder mentioned that it loved the sweet and soft human delicacies.
However, it couldn't recall the name of the delicacy for a moment.
"Poffin?" Shizuru asked.
The Swift Dragon Elder nodded vigorously, confirming that it was indeed the name!
"I'll bring some more for you next time," Shizuru said with a smile.
The Swift Dragon Elder was delighted.
Meanwhile, on the beach, Little Tree was building sandcastles with the Minin Dragon and Hakuryu, while also observing these unfamiliar Dragon Pokemon.
It was undeniable that the Minin Dragon and Hakuryu were incredibly adorable!
The Hakuryu and the Totten Turtles on the farm were equally enthusiastic and loved to play.
A few Minin Dragons were initially shy, but they were now happily playing.
However, one Minin Dragon stood out as particularly shy, merely watching the others play from the side, looking a bit pitiful.
"Dad said that Minin Dragons and Hakuryu are Dragon-type Pokemon..."
So, it was time to use King Dravetz!
Little Tree extended her hand towards the shy Minin Dragon and communicated with it using King Dravetz:
"Minin Dragon, why aren't you playing with the others?"
As the mystical power flowed into its body, the shy Minin Dragon froze in surprise.
It felt so warm...
"Hmm? Does Minin Dragon like this power?" Little Tree explained, "This is King Dravetz! It's the power Dad taught me. Since you like it, I'll give you some more!"
After a series of interactions, the Minin Dragon's face was filled with happiness.
Unconsciously, it had snuggled into Little Tree's embrace, relishing the sensation.
After some time, when Shizuru returned, he witnessed this scene.
"Little Tree, it's time to go home!" Shizuru said.
"Okay, Dad!" Little Tree stood up, ready to leave.
But the Minin Dragon looked reluctant, following Little Tree with a sad expression.
"Wuu..."
"Be a good Minin Dragon! Little Tree is going home, and we'll come back to play with you next time!" Little Tree said.
"Wuu..." The Minin Dragon looked very sad.
Little Tree was puzzled but asked, "Minin Dragon, do you want to come home with us?"
Hearing this, the Minin Dragon nodded vigorously. It could sense that the mystical energy would help it grow faster, and the human was kind. If it could become its Trainer...
It would surely become a powerful Pokemon in the future!
Seeing the Minin Dragon's reaction, Little Tree was hesitant. "Dad..."
Shizuru: "..."
His eyebrows twitched, thinking that this was happening too fast.
It had been less than three hours, and already the Minin Dragon wanted to follow Little Tree as its Pokemon.
But then he thought, the power of King Dravetz and King Dravetz had reached its peak in terms of Pokemon affinity. Additionally, as both were children, it was natural for them to play together, and it made sense for the Minin Dragon to want to become Little Tree's Pokemon.
Shizuru looked at Little Tree and asked, "Minin Dragon wants to go with you. Are you willing to become its Trainer?"
Little Tree was taken aback. "Really?"
Shizuru nodded but added, "But you're still young, and it might be challenging to take care of two Pokemon at once..."
Before Shizuru could finish, Little Tree eagerly assured him, "I'll do my best!"
Shizuru: "..."
Little Tree, taking care of two Pokemon wouldn't be easy!
Especially at this stage, Pokemon were still immature. When they saw their Trainer treating another Pokemon better than themselves, they could easily become jealous.
For a Trainer, managing the relationship between two Pokemon was a challenging test.
