Chapter 68: Trust Me, Hogwarts Never Engages in Rule-Breaking!
Chapter 68: Trust Me, Hogwarts Never Engages in Rule-Breaking!
"Hello, I'm Charlie, and these are my friends. We're here to pick up the dragon", said Charlie, who looked a bit chubby but spoke with a warm and friendly tone. Clearly, this Weasley was easy to get along with.
Ivan was worried that the Ministry of Magic officials might arrive early, so after a brief introduction, he led them to Hagrid's hut.
"Who did this? It saved us a lot of trouble", said Charlie, looking somewhat surprised at the tightly bound and soundly sleeping Norbert.
Charlie confidently waved his wand to try and undo the Transformation Spell that bound Norbert, but after several attempts, he only managed a few minor effects, leaving him looking rather embarrassed as he glanced at Ivan.
"It was Professor Mcgonagall." Ivan explained.
"Why didn't you say so earlier?" Charlie's lips twitched, and he quickly asked the others to help. After a lot of effort, they finally managed to undo the Transformation Spell that had tightly bound Norbert's limbs.
The commotion woke Norbert, which gave them a good scare. In the end, it was Ivan who calmed Norbert down and used a Stunning Spell to put it back to sleep.
Charlie was impressed and commented that Ivan had a natural talent for dragon handling. He even asked if Ivan would consider working with him in Romania after graduation.
Ivan naturally declined without hesitation. He only kept Norbert for the convenience of extracting its blood; otherwise, he wouldn't have the time to care for a dragon.
Charlie looked a bit disappointed but didn't press the matter. He and his friends then secured Norbert in a specially designed cage and continuously cast Levitation Charms and Stunning Spells on it.
The former was to reduce Norbert's weight for easier transport, while the latter was to prevent it from waking up during the journey.
Once everything was set, Charlie didn't linger and had his friends ride their brooms to pull the cage into the sky.
"Finally, it's done." After Norbert was sent away, Harry and the others breathed a sigh of relief.
"We still need to clean up the traces of Norbert's stay", Ivan pointed to the messy hut, indicating they had one more task to complete.
Although Ivan had used a Scouring Charm to solve most of the problems, some still required their personal attention.
By the time the four of them finally finished, it was already getting dark. As Ivan was about to leave with them, he suddenly heard footsteps approaching the door.
At the edge of Hogwarts Lake, in front of Hagrid's hut, Minister Fudge led the way, accompanied by Dumbledore and Mcgonagall. Behind them was an old woman in a pink cardigan, looking nervous.
"Albus, you know I trust you, considering all the help you've given me. But the Ministry of Magic isn't just me making decisions", said Fudge, with a falsely troubled expression.
"I assure you, Hogwarts has always followed the rules set by the Ministry of Magic and never engages in any rule-breaking", said Dumbledore, nodding noncommittally. If it weren't for Fudge putting aside his many duties, signing an investigation order at the fastest speed, and personally leading a team here, he might have believed it.
From what he knew, the Ministry of Magic had never been so efficient in handling official matters!
Professor Mcgonagall, who was half a step behind, wore a worried expression. She had misjudged Fudge's reaction time and was very concerned that the children hadn't had enough time to handle everything, especially if Norbert was still in Hagrid's hut. That would be hard to explain.
"Umbridge", Fudge said softly as he stood at the door. As the Minister of Magic, he certainly wouldn't open the door himself.
"Of course, Minister."
If such a delicate and high-pitched voice came from a young girl, it would be incredibly soothing. However, when it came from Umbridge, it was quite revolting.
But Umbridge was oblivious to this fact and, in a pretentious manner, pulled out her wand from her small handbag and pointed it at the door.
"Alohomora!"
Umbridge pushed the door open forcefully, and Professor Mcgonagall's heart raced. Fudge noticed this and became more intrigued.
However, to the disappointment of Fudge and Umbridge, the room was not as they had imagined. It was just an ordinary, somewhat dilapidated wooden hut.
Under normal circumstances, Fudge wouldn't even bother coming to such a place.
But it wasn't entirely empty. Umbridge's gaze fell on Ivan and the others who were still inside the wooden hut.
"Albus, I thought you had the students staying in the castle", Fudge said, turning to Dumbledore with interest.
"There are always exceptions, aren't there?" Dumbledore's eyes lingered on Ivan's face, and he keenly noticed the changes in him. However, now wasn't the time to ask.
"Minister Fudge, hello, I am Ivan Hals. It's a pleasure to meet you", Ivan said politely, bowing slightly. Under the influence of his charm ability, Fudge felt his liking for Ivan increase.
"Of course, I feel the same", Fudge extended his hand and shook Ivan's lightly. He then turned to look at the others, becoming immediately interested when he saw the distinctive scar on Harry's forehead. He ignored Ron and Hermione who were further back.
"Potter? You're Harry Potter?" Fudge stepped forward and affectionately patted Harry's head, as if they were uncle and nephew.
Harry felt very uncomfortable and wanted to pull away, but Fudge's hand was too strong, making it impossible to escape.
"I have to admit that what you did as a child was quite heroic. Otherwise, the Ministry of Magic might have lost even more people", Fudge said with a sigh.
Lost even more people? It would probably have been the complete destruction or surrender of the Ministry of Magic, Ivan thought to himself, silently mocking.
"By the way, what are you all doing here?" Fudge asked curiously.
Harry and Hermione were at a loss, but Ivan remained calm and pointed to the large dog beside them.
"We are friends of Hagrid. Because he is in the hospital, he asked us to look after Fang to prevent his wounds from getting worse or from starving."
Fudge followed Ivan's gaze and saw a large Mastiff with bandages wrapped around its legs, still stained with blood.
Recalling the investigation report he had read, Fudge nodded. This loyal dog had returned to alert them when the Gamekeeper Hagrid was attacked, which led to his rescue.
Who doesn't like a loyal dog?
Fudge bent down to pet Fang, but the dog showed no gratitude, baring its teeth at him. This made Fudge very awkward, and a flash of displeasure crossed his face. He didn't like a dog that snarled at him.
