Chapter 68: Snape's Intuition
Chapter 68: Snape's Intuition
Before the afternoon Quidditch match, Snape approached Madam Hooch, using the excuse that the mental and physical health of his house players had been affected, and requested to postpone the game.
Madam Hooch, seemingly aware of the incident at noon, agreed without hesitation and prepared to have Ravenclaw replace Slytherin.
"Madam Hooch, I believe Gryffindor is also not suitable to participate in the match today," Snape said, glancing at the Gryffindor team. "I have some matters to discuss with the Weasley twins."
Madam Hooch frowned slightly. "Can't it wait until after the match?"
If both teams were to be replaced, the entire schedule would be disrupted, and rearranging it would be a hassle.
Snape drew out his words, "It's urgent, Madam Hooch."
"Well... fine." Although reluctant, Snape was a legitimate professor at the school and also a Head of House, so he had the authority to intervene in Quidditch matches.
Madam Hooch had no choice but to agree.
However, she still reminded him, "Professor Snape, I hope this situation won't happen again. Rescheduling matches is really troublesome."
"Believe me, I don't want this to happen either, but I just don't understand what they were thinking..." Snape replied.
Turning towards the Gryffindor team, Snape took Fred and George away without further explanation.
Charlie tried to stop them, but as soon as he opened his mouth, ten points were deducted from Gryffindor.
"Insolence towards a professor, Weasley," Snape said coldly. "Gryffindor, ten points deducted. If you don't move aside, I'll deduct twenty points next time."
Charlie's face turned red with anger. He clenched his fists, and the veins on his arms bulged. After taking a deep breath, he moved to the side... to an adjacent position.
"Professor Snape, please go ahead."
Snape's grip on his wand loosened slightly, and after a cold harrumph, he left the Quidditch pitch with Fred and George.
But as soon as he left, Charlie rushed towards Professor McGonagall's office, cursing under his breath.
Slytherin had no sportsmanship; not only did they frame them, but they also called for help, which was too shameless.
It was just a broken leg; everyone had experienced it before.
Their Gryffindor's leg was even the Deputy Headmistress... in terms of position, she was much higher than Snape.
On the other side, after returning to the castle, Snape led Fred and George to the Potion Office.
However, the twins were not nervous at all; instead, they curiously examined the furnishings in the office.
It was just ordinary.
Aside from being narrow, the furniture was also old-fashioned, and the floor creaked when stepped on.
If they ignored the potion ingredients, they might have thought they had walked into a second-hand furniture store.
Compared to Professor McGonagall's office, it was far inferior.
"Professor Snape, what did you want to see us for?" Fred asked first.
Snape spoke slowly, "What's the matter with the package you received this morning?"
"We don't know either, Professor," George said calmly, taking out a piece of paper from his pocket and placing it on the table next to him. "There was no sender's name, so we thought the owl had delivered it to the wrong person."
"Yeah," Fred nodded. "We searched for a long time but couldn't find the owner of the package. Just as we were about to hand it over to Professor McGonagall, the package disappeared."
George continued, "Professor, do you know who stole... that package?"
George intentionally emphasized the word "stole" and paused for a moment. However, Snape acted as if he hadn't heard and continued, "So, you're saying that package wasn't purchased by you?"
Don't try to fool me, I know it's from Zuko, and I'll be asking about it in Hogsmeade later."
"Of course, it's your freedom, Professor," Fred said, his expression unchanged.
"But if you know who stole that package, please let us know. After all, it was lost on our watch, and we'd be in trouble if the owner comes looking for it."
Snape's eyes twitched, and he pretended not to hear again.
"Weasley, you..."
"Bang Bang~"
At that moment, there was a sudden knock on the door.
Professor McGonagall entered from outside.
"Severus, I heard you took Fred and George away," Professor McGonagall said, pursing her lips with a serious expression. "What did they do wrong?"
"We didn't do anything, Professor McGonagall," Fred quickly protested.
"Professor Snape wanted to ask us about the package," George added.
Professor McGonagall thought for a moment. "The package you mentioned to me before, the one without a sender?"
"Yes, that's the one," Fred said. "But it's gone, and we suspect someone might have stolen it."

"Stealing things at Hogwarts?" Professor McGonagall's lips tightened, "If I find out who it is, I'll deduct one hundred, no, two hundred points."
"Cough cough..." At this moment, Snape suddenly coughed twice and said, "In fact, that's something belonging to one of our Slytherin students, and he took it after seeing it."
Professor McGonagall was slightly taken aback. "From your house?"
"Yes, from our house," Snape said, his face turning slightly blue. He gritted his teeth and continued, "I called the Weasleys to confirm the situation."
"Oh..."
Professor McGonagall's expression softened, and she glanced at Snape with some displeasure. "This matter could have been discussed on the pitch; why interrupt the match?"
Snape didn't speak, but he cursed Rozier as an idiot in his mind.
After that, Professor McGonagall left, and she took Fred and George with her when she departed.
Snape didn't stop her.
In fact, he had never suspected those two Weasleys from the beginning.
Their styles were too different.
He called them over this time to try to get some information and perhaps deduct a few dozen points to ease his mood.
However, he didn't expect Professor McGonagall to arrive so quickly, and those two seemed to be prepared. They directly defined the incident as "stealing" right in front of Professor McGonagall.
It left him unable to find any fault with them.
Because this was the truth; if the Slytherin student hadn't stolen the package, the subsequent events wouldn't have happened.
"Rozier, you idiot, you're practically a close relative of a troll!" Snape cursed again in his mind.
However, after the recent events, he became even more certain that the Weasleys had nothing to do with this matter, or at least they weren't the masterminds.
The Weasleys' brains weren't that sharp.
Snape stood there deep in thought. Suddenly, for some reason, an image of an honest and trustworthy (crossed out) cunning and hypocritical face flashed through his mind.
"Kyle Quaba..." Snape muttered to himself.
Although Kyle seemed to have absolutely no connection to this incident, not even remotely, Snape's intuition told him that Kyle was definitely not innocent.
Yes, it was his intuition, and it had nothing to do with him corrupting Conna.
