Chapter 679: Wandmaster
Chapter 679: Wandmaster
"First, all of you back out and retreat to the small hill behind us." Liam said, removing the safety from a large grenade he had modified from a Fat Man Nuclear Bomb from the Radiation World. He cast a few defensive spells on it and then turned to Hermione.
"Alright, be careful." Hermione said, then she teleported out of the room with the two children. Liam, after removing the safety, threw the Fat Man Nuclear Bomb into the entrance of the Chamber of Secrets and immediately teleported back to the small hill where they had been hiding.
"Boom", As Liam teleported back to the hill, a massive explosion echoed from the house below. A ball of fire rapidly expanded into a mushroom cloud, rising toward the sky. A few seconds later, the debris—stones, wood, and bricks—rained down, clattering around, forcing Ryan and the others to create a magical shield to protect themselves from the falling rubble.
"Hurry, we don't have much time." Liam said, and they all teleported back to the location of the room. The sturdy stone room that had been there was now a large crater. After using his wand to clear away the debris, the iron wall that had been hidden behind it reappeared.
"Looks good." After a brief inspection, Liam found that the magical defenses on the iron wall had been significantly weakened by the explosion. With Rose Madonna's help, the door opened a few seconds later.
Behind the door was a sizable Magic Laboratory, brightly lit by numerous torches. Under the illumination, a variety of alchemical vessels made from different metals and gemstones gleamed on the workbenches. However, the laboratory only occupied one-third of the room. The remaining two-thirds were filled with wooden shelves, which held a vast array of alchemical materials.
"We've hit the jackpot." Liam whispered, looking at the rows of shelves. He could sense that most of the items on the shelves were rare and valuable, even if one had the money to buy them. But before they could collect the loot, Liam realized there was something else he needed to do.
"Anyone hiding behind the shelves, come out and surrender now." Hermione pointed her wand at a shelf and shouted, "Raise your hands above your head and walk out slowly, palms up, or I will kill you."
Soon, rustling sounds came from behind the shelves. A few seconds later, two elderly men, looking gaunt and weak, emerged, supporting each other and raising their hands high.
"Mr. Ollivander, it's you." Liam immediately recognized one of the men who had emerged from behind the shelves. Although he had only met the old man a few times, he remembered his face vividly as the maker of his first wand when he entered the Wizarding World.
"Oh, it's you, Layne Liang, a rare Asian wizard in Britain. Pine wood, phoenix feather, twelve inches, a wand that is quite particular about its master. But in a way, it's also a wand that can greatly amplify its master's power", Ollivander squinted and said, looking at Liam.
Liam was now certain that this was indeed Ollivander and not someone who had taken a Polyjuice Potion to impersonate him. Only Ollivander could recall the names and wand details of everyone who had purchased a wand from him.
"Let's hurry and go. The Dark Lord's reinforcements are likely on their way. By the way, Mr. Ollivander, who is this gentleman with you?" Liam asked, pointing to the older man next to Ollivander, who appeared much heavier, with snow-white hair and a fluffy beard, looking like a Santa Claus.
"This is Mr. Gregorovitch, also a wandmaker. He was kidnapped by the Dark Lord just like me." Ollivander introduced. "Please take him with us. He has been a great help to me during our time here."
"No problem, sir", Liam nodded, agreeing. In reality, even if Ollivanders hadn't said anything, he wouldn't have left such a talented individual to Voldemort. By this time, Rose Crystal and Gill had already packed away the items on the shelves and the top-tier alchemy equipment on the nearby tables into their dimensions. Hermione took the opportunity to set up numerous magic traps in the basement.
After everything was packed up, Liam activated the alchemical bombs he had previously set. He then grabbed each of the old men by one hand and left the basement, while Hermione also led the two children out of there. Three minutes after they left, several Death Eaters appeared on the pile of ruins, materializing from black smoke.
"Ha, Lestrange wife. Is this the secret laboratory you boasted about, with unprecedented defenses?" A male wizard with long hair and a scar on his face asked sarcastically.
"Shut up!" Bellatrix, a tall, dark-skinned witch, transformed her wand into a long whip and wrapped it around the wizard's neck, pulling him face-to-face with her. "I will admit my mistake to the Dark Lord and take responsibility for my failure. But what happened here is not for scum like you to judge."
"Ch-ch-ch", the wizard, his hands clutching the whip, turned from white to blood-red, and then slowly to a bluish color. Fortunately, Bellatrix finally vented her anger and released the whip just before he suffocated.
"Get out, all of you, now!" Bellatrix shouted angrily. "I will thoroughly investigate who dared to do this and tear them apart piece by piece once I find them."
The other Death Eaters hurriedly scrambled away from her, their faces filled with fear. Soon after they ran off, the sound of spells hitting the ground and exploding, followed by Bellatrix's frantic roar, filled the air.
However, by this time, the masterminds behind the attack had successfully returned home. Upon entering the living room, Liam enthusiastically introduced the two old men. "This is my current home, a place even the Dark Lord can't enter. You are safe now."
As he spoke, Liam felt the weight on both sides suddenly increase. He quickly turned his head and found that both Wandmasters had fainted, their eyes rolling back.
"Move, don't get in the way", Hermione, standing behind Liam, pushed him aside and knelt down, releasing a blood-red aura from her hands to envelop the two elders.
"They don't have any serious injuries. They were hit by several spells that harm the soul, likely the Cruciatus Curse. After that, they were overworked for a long time, and now, with the sudden relaxation and emotional excitement, they've fainted", Hermione explained to Liam after a minute. "Put them in the guest room to rest for a while, and light the calming incense for them. I think they'll wake up after a good night's sleep, but full recovery might take over a month."
"I see", Liam said, then gave some instructions to Handy, who had run out. Soon, four or five Handys, carrying stretchers, rushed out of the basement and carried the two unconscious Wandmasters to the guest room. Liam trusted these robots to take good care of the Wandmasters.
"I think we should rest as well", Liam said to Hermione as he watched the robots leave. "We can tally the spoils and figure out what happened in the basement tomorrow. Tonight, we can relax."
