Chapter 679: It's Normal to Develop a Soft Spot for Cute Things
Chapter 679: It's Normal to Develop a Soft Spot for Cute Things
In the city of Hargeon, within a luxurious and upscale inn...
Feng Ye entered the guest room and sat down on the sofa, saying, "We'll rest here for today. Tomorrow, we can take the Hargeon train directly to Magnolia Town."
Although he could easily teleport Elsa and Juvia back to Magnolia using his spatial magic, he thought it would be nice to occasionally enjoy a trip. If he relied too much on his magical abilities, he would only grow further apart from ordinary humans.
Besides, with Elsa and Juvia around, the journey wouldn't be boring. After all, the combined cuteness of these two girls, though not quite on par with Mebius, was definitely greater than the sum of their parts.
Feng Ye had grown quite fond of the atmosphere in the Fairy Tail guild.
Compared to Konoha Village in the Naruto world or the Navy in the One Piece world, Fairy Tail was a much purer place. If the former two inevitably had their dark sides, then the Fairy Tail guild was almost entirely devoid of darkness.
Makarov's son, Ivan, who was inclined towards the dark side, had been expelled from the guild long ago by his father. As a result, the bond between the remaining guild members was unbreakable.
And it was precisely because of this guild's nature that First Magic could be born.
Having experienced a fair share of darkness in the Bleach world, from the Captain-Commander to Soi Fon, who had countless kills under their belts, and whose notions of justice were built on piles of corpses, Feng Ye yearned for the harmony that Fairy Tail offered.
"So luxurious..." Juvia stared in awe at the room's amenities. Although it was an inn, its high price and luxurious amenities made it resemble a villa.
Elsa stood by Feng Ye's side, her curiosity getting the better of her as she asked, "What's a train?
"It's a means of transportation. You'll see it tomorrow," Feng Ye replied with a casual smile. "You and Juvia can pick any room you like to rest in."
"Okay," Elsa obediently replied.
Instead of joining Elsa in choosing a room, Juvia picked up a cup from the table and said, "I'll make you some tea."
"Alright," Feng Ye agreed, leaning back on the sofa to relax.
A moment later, Juvia returned with a teapot, her cheeks tinged with a hint of pale red. She carefully poured a cup of tea for Feng Ye.
Noticing Juvia's expression, Feng Ye picked up the cup and examined it but didn't drink from it. Instead, he tilted his head towards her and asked, "Where did you get this water?"
"Umm..." Juvia hesitated, her voice meek as she said, "I couldn't find any water, so I made some with my magic."
"..." Feng Ye felt a bit helpless. He thought it would be easier for her to just say that the water came from her body, as she was already a hundred percent water. This child had already started to develop a playful streak.
Setting the cup of 'sister juice tea' back on the table, Feng Ye glanced towards the kitchen and realized something. The reason for Juvia's unease became clear to him—instead of a faucet, there was a water crystal in the kitchen, indicating that the inn used magic for its water facilities. Water created through magic would indeed be cleaner than well or tap water.
In a sense, the water Juvia had made was similar. Although it technically came from her body, she had also used magic to create it, resulting in water that was purer than well or tap water.
It just felt a bit odd.
As Feng Ye turned his gaze back to Juvia, he noticed that she was enveloped in a dark and oppressive aura, as if she had suffered a heavy blow. She muttered to herself, 'Juvia has been rejected...'
Juvia had been anxious about not finding a faucet and using her magic to create water, fearing that Feng Ye would find it dirty. Now, she undoubtedly felt like she had received a devastating blow.
"What does one thing have to do with the other?" Feng Ye couldn't help but feel a mix of amusement and exasperation. Deciding to let it go, he picked up the cup and took a sip, saying, "Go get some rest. We'll be taking the train in the morning."
Witnessing this, a glimmer of light returned to Juvia's gloomy eyes, and she asked, "Hasn't Juvia been rejected by Feng Ye?"
"Of course not. Now go," Feng Ye said, raising his finger and tapping her forehead, deliberately ignoring her water elemental body.
Juvia rubbed her forehead and took a step back, her lively and cheerful smile returning. Then, she turned and went to choose a room to sleep in.
...
The next day, Feng Ye, accompanied by Elsa and Juvia, arrived at the Hargeon train station.
"Is this the train? It's quite grand," Elsa remarked, dressed in a light purple kimono—another of her magic-enhanced outfits. It offered low defense but high flexibility and enhanced her magic to a certain extent.
Even at her young age, one could glimpse hints of the Fairy Queen's aura about her.
Juvia turned to Elsa and tilted her head, asking, "Is Elsa from a very remote place? You seem to have never seen a train before."
"Yes," Elsa nodded without denying it.
To her, being from a remote area wasn't something to be ashamed of.
"Let's go, it's time to board," Feng Ye said, walking forward and calling out to them. He had, of course, purchased first-class tickets. Leading Elsa and Juvia to the front of the train, they settled into the spacious cabin, with only two seats on each side of the aisle.
Elsa, having learned a great deal about the magical world from Feng Ye, including magic guilds, sat down and propped her chin on her hands, gazing out the window.
"I wonder what a wizard's guild looks like..." she mused.
"You'll find out soon enough," Feng Ye replied nonchalantly.
As the train whistle blew and the locomotive began its journey, they crossed through multiple towns before finally arriving at Magnolia Station.
A moment later, Feng Ye strode into the Magnolia Guild. He raised his thumb and pointed backwards, saying, "Guild Master, I've brought back two wizards. It's your call now."
"Don't just bring wizards back without..." Makarov started to say, his face stiffening, but then he noticed little Elsa and Juvia following Feng Ye. His eyes widened as he exclaimed, "Oh, welcome, welcome! I'm the guild master here. Are you two interested in joining our Fairy Tail guild?"
Witnessing Makarov's rapid change of expression, Porlyusica, who happened to be in the guild at that moment, tugged on Makarov's ear and lifted it, giving him a stern look. "Are you planning to make a move on them when they grow up?"
Feng Ye strolled towards the second floor, glancing at Makarov and offering a casual smile. "Spare the guild master, even with old age, one can't resist the allure of cute things."
Porlyusica glanced at Feng Ye and released her grip on Makarov's ear, while Makarov hastily rubbed his sore ear, shooting a grateful look at Feng Ye.
Now that's more like it!
It's only natural for older folks to develop a soft spot for adorable things.
"Please let me join the guild."
Elsa blinked her eyes in a slightly doe-eyed manner and spoke up to Makarov, while Juvia, equally polite, bowed and said, "Please let Juvia join the guild too!"
Makarov grunted, taking a puff from his pipe. "Alright, I approve of your membership."
"That was quick!"
Porlyusica tugged on Makarov's ear again.
"Ouch, that hurts!" Makarov whined. "Look at their eyes; they're such kind children, and they were brought here by Feng Ye. I'm sure he's already vetted them thoroughly."
He turned to Elsa and Juvia and asked, "What kind of magic can you use?"
"Transformation Magic," Elsa replied with a nod, her body glowing as her kimono instantly transformed into knight armor.
"Water Magic," Juvia answered simultaneously, her small hands gently waving as a stream of water flowed out from within her, arcing through the air before returning to her body.
Makarov tilted his head towards Porlyusica, his palms facing upward. "See, they're both very talented."
"Hmph!" Porlyusica snorted, releasing her grip and striding towards the exit. "Don't bother me if it's not important."
Makarov gave an awkward smile and picked up the Fairy Tail stamp, marking Juvia and Elsa with the guild's insignia.
"Alright! From now on, you are official members of the Fairy Tail guild. Starting today, work hard to become powerful wizards!" Makarov closed his eyes and stroked his beard.
However, after waiting for a response, he strangely opened his eyes to find that Elsa and Juvia had already scampered upstairs!
"Where are you two going?!" Makarov exclaimed, his eyes bulging.
He raised his hand to grab at Elsa and Juvia, his giant palm reaching for the staircase to pull them down.
But at that moment, another giant hand reached out from the second floor, deftly deflecting Makarov's hand, colliding briefly in mid-air before quickly retracting.
Feng Ye stood in the corridor on the second floor, smiling at Makarov. "They probably came to look for me. They didn't know that only S-class wizards are allowed upstairs. Let it slide this time since they didn't know any better."
"You brat..." Makarov shot a glance at Feng Ye, pouting. "Get them downstairs."
Hearing Makarov's words, a hint of nostalgia flickered in Feng Ye's eyes. Ever since he had steadily grown stronger in the Naruto world, he rarely heard anyone address him like that. Instead of feeling annoyed, he felt a surge of warmth.
"Elsa, Juvia, it's prohibited to go upstairs in the guild without special circumstances," Feng Ye said as he walked towards the stairs and descended. Smiling at the two girls, he continued, "Alright, let me show you where you can stay. You can rent a room in the women's dormitory here, or you can rent a place outside the guild."
Juvia snapped out of her daze, sticking out her tongue. "Where does Feng Ye live?"
"I bought a separate villa," Feng Ye replied casually.
Elsa thought for a moment and asked, "Are there any rentable houses near where you live, Feng Ye?"
"Yes," Feng Ye smiled. "When I bought my house, I wanted peace and quiet, so I purchased the entire neighborhood. They're all vacant now, so feel free to choose any house you like. I'll only charge you the lowest rent."
Elsa and Juvia exchanged glances, their eyes reflecting the same thought.
Feng Ye, you're so rich!
Watching Feng Ye leave with Elsa and Juvia, Makarov, pipe in mouth, muttered, "That kid's gonna make a move before they even grow up, I bet."
...
The neighborhood that Feng Ye had purchased consisted of a three-story standalone villa where he resided, surrounded by mostly two-story houses. Elsa and Juvia each chose one of the houses closest to his, one on the left and the other on the right.
Juvia also borrowed 10 million J from Feng Ye, so renting her own place wasn't an issue.
And so, Juvia and Elsa officially embarked on their journey as members of the Fairy Tail guild, taking on various wizarding jobs.
Soon after, Elsa realized that she had unintentionally caused quite a stir.
The highest-paying regular jobs only offered a few hundred thousand J at most!
To repay Feng Ye's loan of 100 million J, it would take a lifetime at this rate!
Upon learning that Elsa had borrowed 100 million J from Feng Ye, Makarov's expression became peculiar. He eventually consoled Elsa, saying, "That brat Feng Ye has more money than he knows what to do with. Don't worry about paying him back in a hurry. Once you become a powerful wizard, earning 100 million J is still within reach."
Indeed.
As long as she saved up slowly, there was still hope to repay the debt one day, Elsa thought to herself.
With the addition of Elsa and Juvia, the atmosphere in the guild became more lively. Gray, who had joined earlier, challenged Elsa about a month after she joined and received a thorough beating.
From then on, he endured repeated thrashings on a monthly, if not more frequent, basis.
As Irene's daughter, Elsa's magical talent was undeniable, and the latent magic within her was equally formidable. In a short time, she became one of the most powerful wizards in the guild.
Time flew, and soon it was July 7, X777.
