Chapter 678: The Upright Enforcer
Chapter 678: The Upright Enforcer
Near G-3’s maritime zone, the Navy’s recent ambush on G-3 had severely damaged its reputation. To restore honor, every commander from G-3 Branch had mobilized to eradicate pirates in these waters.
A pirate ship fled across the sea, pursued relentlessly by two Warships.
“Mr. Klah!”
On the deck of one Warship, Sazil lowered his telescope. “Confirmed—it’s the Mad Wolf pirate crew. They’ve already razed three towns.”
“Mad Wolf?” Standing beside him in a black dress uniform, Klah loosened his arms from their crossed posture and adjusted his glasses with his palm. “They dare claim that name? Let me handle it.”
“Leave it to me, Mr. Klah!” Sazil rolled up his sleeves, his eyes gleaming. “I’ll finish them!”
Klah nodded coolly. “Don’t fail. I’ve no time to waste. Vice Admiral Kuro just called—he’s en route and will arrive within three or four days. Secure this sea zone before then.”
“Understood!” Sazil leapt skyward, his Moonstep propelling him toward the pirate vessel.
Meanwhile, similar battles unfolded in other jurisdictions.
Inside a captured pirate ship, vines coiled around most of the crew. Nearby, a uniformed Sausage Mouth writhed and twisted in madness. Beside him, Ai En stood with one hand lowered, gazing at civilians she had reverted to childhood through time reversal.
“Vice Admiral Kuro never takes prisoners,” she murmured, closing her eyes. “They must die.”
On another sea zone, Warships drifted silently.
A bearded man on the deck stared ahead. “We’re nearing.”
His companion, equally stern, nodded. “To think pirates would dare strike G-3’s waters—it’s an outrage!”
“Indeed, Wilbur!” Commander Kas clenched his fist, anguish etched on his face. “Our failure to spread Justice allowed wickedness to exploit this gap! We’re at fault! Kuro’s return demands we rectify this—and afterward, I must personally atone. Justice isn’t found in fortress walls. True Justice moves forward, confronting evil head-on!”
“You speak truth, Kas!” Wilbur roared. “Kuro once said: ‘Clear the filth to let clean winds rise! Abhor evil to uphold Justice!’ Let’s fight together!”
Kas’ eyes blazed. “Yes! We’ll show every pirate—Justice cannot be defied!”
Nearby, Donald raised an eyebrow. “Actually, wasn’t it ‘Excite the turbid to clarify, hate evil to pursue virtue’?”
The Warship approached an island. Lush and habitable, it housed two villages under G-3’s jurisdiction. Kas and Wilbur had split their forces earlier but converged upon receiving pirate reports.
Docking swiftly, Kas barked, “Leave a crew to guard the ship! The rest—follow me!” With encyclopedic knowledge of the sea routes, he led the charge toward the nearest village.
They halted at the outskirts. The village—reduced to ash.
Smoldering ruins stood where homes once thrived. Charcoal-dark corpses lay contorted in futile pleas, fresh blood staining the earth. Not a single survivor.
“Evil Fist Off!” Wilbur snarled, gripping a black flag bearing a skull with a rising fist. “That pirate scum dares linger here?!”
Off’s bounty had skyrocketed to 400 million Beri after leading the attack on G-3’s fortress. Defiantly lingering in G-3’s waters—this was a direct slap at the Navy.
“Justice is desecrated!” Kas roared. “Secure the bodies! The rest—move to the other village! The blood’s still fresh—they can’t have left long ago!”
As they raced onward, cries echoed from the second village. Pirates pillaged ruthlessly, slaughtering villagers and setting homes ablaze.
“Now!” Kas thundered, fist slamming his chest. “Fivefold Formation! Charge!!”
The Navy surged forward, their movements leaving afterimages of white mist. Pirates fell before they could react, cut down by blades or muskets.
“You’ll never escape!” Kas bellowed.
“Navy trash?” A pirate parried a strike, smirking. “You think we fear you?!”
Kas’ pupils constricted. Drawing his saber, he lunged—but a whip-like chain lashed before him. Donald materialized, yanking him backward just as a cyclone of air shredded the battlefield. Navy and pirate alike vanished in the storm.
“A strongman,” Donald muttered, cross spear raised. “A serious one.”
From the smoke, a voice dripped with malice. “Navy? More weaklings dying pointlessly?”
A figure emerged: a bald man with a scarred, iron-like torso, clad only in martial pants and a black sash. He dropped his dying hostage, then kicked the body like a cannonball toward Kas. Blood spattered his face.
Kas froze, eyes narrowing to pinpricks.
“You want to join the Navy?”
“Of course! I’ll become a defender of Justice—come with me!”
It was a noon bathed in sunlight—the young man’s smile had shone like the sun itself...
“Off!!” Kas roared. “What are you doing?!”
