Chapter 677: Celestial Igo (Second Update)
Chapter 677: Celestial Igo (Second Update)
"Mr. Carmen, rest assured. Since we've taken on this job, there's no reason for you to get involved. This is just a minor issue, and I'll take care of it in no time."
Star-Lord confidently assured him.
Taking payment for a job was a fundamental principle of the Ravagers. If Jerry had to step in personally, it would be a slap in the face for their captain.
However, just as he finished speaking, a loud explosion echoed from outside. All the Nova Corps' combat flyers were suddenly obliterated in an instant.
"Mr. Carmen, was that you?"
Gamora looked at the virtual screen, where all the red dots representing the Nova Corps' combat flyers had vanished. She immediately turned to look at Jerry.
Jerry shook his head, looking innocent.
"Not me!"
"Then what was it?"
Rocket suddenly exclaimed from the front.
"A tiny little guy!"
Drax gestured with his pinky finger.
"You moron, he's just far away. Don't you know the basic principle that things look smaller when they're farther away?"
Star-Lord looked at Drax in disbelief. He thought he was uneducated, but Drax seemed even more so.
"Don't mock me, or I'll have Rocket put my feces under your pillow."
Drax initially looked upset, but then he seemed to find his own threat amusing and burst into laughter.
Star-Lord's lips twitched. He was starting to doubt whether forming the Guardians of the Galaxy was the right decision.
Ignoring the bickering of Star-Lord and the others, Jerry extended a strand of his consciousness, a faint smile appearing on his face. He knew the fish had taken the bait.
As the ship moved forward, the tiny figure Drax mentioned became clearer. It turned out to be a white-haired old man, standing on a white Mystic Ship, waving at them.
This white-haired old man was none other than Igo, who had rushed to rescue his son.
It was Igo who had used Celestial Power to instantly destroy all the Nova Corps' combat flyers chasing them.
"Star-Lord, stop the ship. That must have been the gentleman who helped us."
When the client spoke, Star-Lord had no choice but to obey. He immediately slowed down and stopped the ship from heading toward the jump point.
The white ship, seeing that Star-Lord's ship had stopped, quickly approached. The old man standing on the ship gestured for Star-Lord to open the ship's hatch.
"Mr. Carmen, should we open the door?"
Star-Lord turned to look at Jerry.
Jerry naturally replied:
"Of course, we should open it. This is our savior. Besides, if he can destroy so many Xandarian ships, he won't care about one more, right?"
"You're right. Dawn, switch to autopilot and open the hatch. Try to dock with that white ship."
Star-Lord thought for a moment. Jerry's reasoning made sense, so he instructed the ship's AI, Dawn, to take over the navigation while he left the pilot's seat and joined the others at the ship's hatch.
A short while later, the two ships completed the docking. The old man who had been standing on the white ship, accompanied by a young woman of an unknown race with a tentacle on her forehead, entered Star-Lord's ship.
"After all these years, I finally found you, my son!"
As soon as Igo entered the ship, he glanced at Jerry, then walked up to Star-Lord and spoke in a very affectionate tone.
In Igo's eyes, the only one on the entire ship who inherited his Celestial Power was Star-Lord, and the energy within Jerry was only slightly stronger, but not enough to be a threat.
"I am your father!"
Star-Lord was instantly stunned upon hearing the white-haired old man's words.
"Yes, can't you tell from my cool and weathered face?"
"My name is Igo, and I am your biological father!"
Igo looked at Star-Lord and slowly began to recount the story of his time on Earth, as well as the details of how he hired Yondu to bring Star-Lord back from Earth, and how Yondu had privately broken the agreement.
Jerry, standing nearby, sighed inwardly, marveling at how good an actor Igo was.
Igo's true form was a planet. To gain enough Celestial Power, he had planted seeds on various planets across the galaxy, urging them to sprout and assimilate into his avatars, thus acquiring the immense power to rule the entire universe.
He created a physical body and traveled through the cosmos, breeding countless offspring with all existing races. Then, he hired the Ravager Yondu to bring these offspring back to Igo's Planet for testing.
So the old man's body he now possessed was not due to the passage of time but was deliberately crafted to gain Star-Lord's trust.
To be honest, if this guy were to complete his plan and assimilate countless planets into his avatars, his power would undoubtedly reach the peak of the Single Universe Level, and might even enter the Multiverse Level.
After Jerry absorbed Dormammu, he immediately brought Star-Lord to Igo, not just for Igo's planetary form and the vast Celestial Power.
There were also countless red stars.
Foiling Igo's plot would be equivalent to saving countless planets that Igo had seeded, which would yield no less red stars than solving Thanos's destruction of half the universe's life.
A small number of red stars were now of little use to him.
Apart from maintaining his time in the Mini World, functions like Mind Refresh were now completely useless for his current body.
Maintaining his time in the Mini World required only a minimal amount of red stars, which he could easily earn with his current strength.
However, if the number of red stars were sufficiently large, that would be a different story.
After the last Panel upgrade, a new feature was added: the ability to convert red stars into universal energy that he could use freely.
This energy could be used to directly cast Magic, replenish the magic power consumed by his body, or even fill the current ring world.
Previously, due to the small number of red stars and the already vast magic power of his body, he had little use for it.
But after resolving the issue with Igo, he would definitely have an unimaginable amount of red stars. Using them to convert into universal energy to fill the Mini World would likely yield no less than Igo's own Celestial Power.
Or he could save them as a precaution, using them to quickly replenish magic power if he ever encountered a Single Universe Level expert and needed to turn the tide.
Most of the enemies he faced now were weaker than him, and battles hardly drained his magic power.
But if one day he encountered an opponent of a higher level, even with his vast magic power and the boost from the Dimensional World, he might still run out of magic power.
Those vast amounts of red stars would serve as a good insurance policy.
