Chapter 676: Xiao Tian's Parents
Chapter 676: Xiao Tian’s Parents
The game world was peaceful, and so was the real world.
The Skrulls had firmly established themselves in 19 giant springs, and the Blue Star cultivators were powerless against them. Over the past seven days, the United Government’s main focus was on consolidating their territories and managing the hundreds of springs they had captured.
To date, Blue Star had occupied five giant springs and 1,374 small and medium springs (283 of which were partially damaged). With little hope of capturing more, the government had to make the most of what they had.
Over the next seven days and the following five months, the United Government’s priority would be to mine these more than a thousand springs. The majority of the spirit energy mined would be allocated to ancient cultivators to restore their strength, while a smaller portion would be used to train new players and develop high-spec spirit energy weapons.
Most of the springs were concentrated in the Asian region, so the United Government was busy with construction, which kept things relatively peaceful.
...
As for Su Yu’s time in the real world:
He had a rare break from his usual hectic schedule. During these seven days, he spent most of his time with Ailijie, Tina, and Chenxing, taking them shopping, buying clothes, eating, and sightseeing.
The three of them had been a great help recently, and at least 300 of the 1,376 small and medium springs captured by Blue Star cultivators were thanks to their efforts. So, spending time with them wasn’t a waste; it was a small way to thank them.
Besides shopping, he also found time to process the spatial rune stones his clones had created. These stones needed a second treatment to become the spatial cores required for spatial rings.
Using his formidable mental power, he inscribed a series of intricate runes inside the stones and marked the spatial coordinates they could withstand on their surfaces. After this process, a spatial core was complete.
Once these cores were delivered to the Bak Kingdom, Cindy Doppeler would only need to add a metal ring and package them for sale.
However, Su Yu didn’t plan to go to the Skrull Star, so he couldn’t deliver the cores himself. He decided to ask Xiao Tian for help.
...
On the morning of December 9th, at 10:00 AM, Su Yu did not log into the game as usual.
Today was the day Zhong Feng, Xiao Tian, and other players were heading to the Skrull Star, and he needed to see them off. He picked up his phone and called Xiao Tian.
When the call connected, he quickly asked, "Xiao Tian, where are you?"
"I’m at the Yan Mountain headquarters."
Xiao Tian’s voice sounded stiff and tense. Su Yu understood her feelings; a 14-year-old girl heading to a strange planet to face terrifying enemies would naturally be under immense pressure.
"Xiao Tian, where exactly are you? I mean, which building, which floor, and which room?"
"Third office building, room 902… Wait, are you going to teleport here?"
"Exactly, I’m on my way."
"Wait! No!..."
Xiao Tian had barely finished her sentence when she realized it was too late. Su Yu’s figure emerged from the void, standing on the floor of the room.
Seeing Su Yu, Xiao Tian didn’t react with the usual joy. She shakily stood up from her seat, clutching the arm of a middle-aged woman next to her, and introduced him to the woman and the middle-aged man beside her, "Dad, Mom, this is Su Yu."
Now, Tian’s parents were also in the room, not just Tian herself.
...
To avoid worrying her grandparents, Tian only told her parents about her plans to go to Skrull last night. However, her words stirred up a hornet’s nest. Her parents rushed to the Yan Mountain Base like mad, using every connection they had to enter and “capture” their daughter.
Tian never imagined that her parents had such influence, managing to enter the headquarters of the relevant departments. Facing their volcanic anger, Tian quickly explained to her grandparents that everything she was doing was for humanity, that she needed to contribute, and that with great power came great responsibility.
But her parents were unmoved. Their only response was, "You’re only 14 years old. How can you go to such a dangerous place at your age? Don’t ruin your life because of a momentary impulse!"
Tian and her parents argued all night, and no compromise had been reached.
At this critical moment, she certainly didn’t want Su Yu to come and stir things up. But it was too late. As soon as she gave him her room number, Su Yu appeared in the room.
...
In Tian’s room.
Su Yu had just arrived and saw the two middle-aged people with a stormy presence. The woman was wearing a custom-made, brandless white dress, her makeup slightly smudged from crying. She held a rare 50-level staff, and her face bore a resemblance to Tian’s. The man was a middle-aged gentleman in a suit and gold-rimmed glasses, not carrying a weapon but wearing a large ruby ring on his index finger, clearly an in-game item.
When they saw Su Yu, the couple immediately cast him a “friendly” gaze. This “friendliness” was so intense that Su Yu’s face stiffened, and he started to sweat.
He had been too careless! Knowing that Tian’s parents were here, he wouldn’t have dared to come even if he had a hundred hearts!
But now that he was here, he couldn’t just teleport away.
Su Yu forced a smile and said to Tian’s parents, "Ha-ha, it’s Uncle and Auntie… Today, Tian is heading to Skrull, so I came to give her some life-saving items. I didn’t bring much, but Auntie, how about I give you my old 4th-tier legendary staff?"
He opened his necklace and took out the [Frost Prison Staff] he had used at the 4th tier, offering it to her.
Seeing the ice-like staff Su Yu was holding, Tian’s parents were taken aback. Tian’s mother was also a mage, with her powers already manifested. Her staff was only a rare 3rd-tier quality, not even an epic, mainly because epic and legendary weapons above the 3rd tier were astronomically expensive, even for families at their level.
Su Yu’s offer of a 4th-tier legendary staff… such a weapon was so valuable that even someone at the level of Chairman Hu would take it seriously. It was worth enough to buy several neighborhoods in the capital’s Fourth Ring!
However, Tian’s parents did not accept the staff. They knew that “if you take, you owe,” and they were here to stop their daughter from going to Skrull. They couldn’t lose their momentum over a piece of equipment.
"Su Yu, we appreciate your kindness, but we can’t accept this gift," Tian’s mother politely refused. "We are here to stop our 14-year-old daughter from going to an extremely dangerous planet. I’m sure you can understand that, right?"
