Chapter 674: Wolf Knight David
Chapter 674: Wolf Knight David
"Kshhhkshhkshh Hahahaha! Sure, sure!"
As David walked out, Kuro still looked puzzled when Donquixote Doflamingo suddenly burst into laughter.
"In that case, I admit it. Let him become king. It'll be interesting in the future, Kuro!"
His face twisted into a gruesome expression as he said, "I'm waiting for you, waiting for you to turn this world upside down!"
"What the hell was that?"
Kuro rolled his eyes and said, "Moer, follow him and make sure he doesn't cause any trouble."
But Moer had already vanished before Kuro finished speaking.
David clutched a cigar in his arms. Since no one was smoking, the lit cigar was more likely to go out, but David didn't care anymore. In his eyes, the fire and light had already shifted from the cigar to his heart.
He held his sword in his right hand while his left arm, weakened by injury, hung limply. Step by step, he approached his home. Many people were already waiting there.
Seeing David returning with his sword, everyone knelt on one knee, placed their right hands on their chests, and bowed their heads.
The meaning was obvious without words.
David stood at his home's ruins, staring blankly as if lost in thought.
Moer beside him said meaningfully, "Young man, won't you say something? What are you waiting for? You've already pledged yourself to our Vice Admiral, taken the sword, and now you're holding it!"
"Lord's words are forever in my heart."
David closed his eyes and raised the black Great Horned Sword high. His father's words echoed in his mind.
"David, the Pansha Family cannot exist without a master."
"But neither Dressrosa nor this world has anyone worthy of being our master."
"We've searched for eight hundred years. There will never be another master."
"Poor you, David. You couldn't hold a sword despite being the strongest genius in Pansha's eight hundred-year history."
His father's sorrowful face was etched in his mind.
He slowly spoke, "Without these people's oppression, even Lord wouldn't have made me seek a master. But as Lord said, times have changed. Dressrosa needs to change too."
"People always know what choice they want when facing their end."
"I want to wield a sword. I want to fight for it. I want to become a true knight."
"Father, I found my master!"
Clang!
Like a sword leaving its sheath, his eyes snapped open, flashing a wisp of cold light.
With great force, he swung the massive sword downward.
Boom!!
The family's ruins cracked open with a large fissure, creating a massive crater in the ground below.
Inside the crater lay a set of armor.
The black-and-silver armor had been buried underground for years, its luster long faded. Streamlined in design, it looked remarkably emaciated, as if tailor-made for David.
His father had belonged to the muscular type, but David himself was tall and lean, perfectly fitting this armor.
"Help me wear it", he said calmly.
Several kneeling people stood up. One was Walis's father, another was the previously unruly man. They approached respectfully, retrieving the armor.
"Officer, your hand..." The elderly woman worriedly looked at David's limp left hand.
"It's fine."
David shook his head. "One hand doesn't matter. Lord didn't order me to heal it, wanting to see how I'll seize the throne of Dressrosa in this state."
Turning his head toward the palace, he said, "Since I was ambushed earlier, those traitors must have already known. They won't give up their positions easily. Though I don't want bloodshed, it's Lord's will."
He extended his hand for the armor change.
The streamlined armor covered David's body. The half-face helm resembled a wolf's head, with something like a wolf's tail flowing from the top. His face was completely hidden in the darkness of the helmet.
His neck scarf had a blue hooded cloak, aged and worn, reduced to a tattered piece reaching only his back. The blue skirt armor on his legs was pierced and broken, adding an aura of terror.
Like a gruesome wolf.
The Pansha clan were originally wolf knights.
Wolves weren't masterless creatures—they simply needed someone they'd acknowledge.
Now, Pansha had recognized someone new—Lucius Kro.
He gripped the great sword, single-handedly slung it onto his back, slightly bent his knees, and spoke steadily from within the helmet.
"No matter how many I kill, I will claim the throne of Dressrosa! The war eight hundred years ago will end today!"
"Very impressive. But since Uncle has Navy obligations preventing direct help, let me give you a hint—deal with that rat first?" Moer smiled.
Swoosh!
As soon as he finished speaking, the ground where David stood kicked up a cloud of dust.
Like a phantom, David appeared among the ruins. His great sword slashed forward, creating a shockwave that shattered the ruins into debris. A disheveled woman in a maid's uniform stood exposed.
The woman stared at David in shock.
"That's Baby-5!"
The unruly man exclaimed, "A Donquixote Family officer!"
"So she's been here all along."
Moer stroked his chin. "Didn't escape Dressrosa?"
"Will you kill me?" Baby-5 stared at David, the armor preventing anyone from reading his expression.
"A fellow lost soul... an officer of the Donquixote Family. With the others captured, you remain. In Dressrosa, you're a signal too."
David's voice was grave. "Decide for yourself—renounce your loyalty to Donquixote Doflamingo and follow me, the new king about to ascend, or cling to blind loyalty and be cut down."
Baby-5 stared at David for a moment, then asked, "Do you need me?"
The question caught David off guard. After a pause, he nodded. "Yes, I need you. To become king, I need multiple influences. Your existence will attract Donquixote Doflamingo's remnants."
This response raised Moer's eyebrows, though he smiled knowingly.
He'd watched this man more closely than Kuro, recognizing that David's intelligence was actually quite sharp.
Baby-5's eyes brightened.
Her young master had failed, her purpose vanished. She didn't know where to run, wandering aimlessly until found.
But now...
She was needed!
"I can do it if you need me!" Baby-5 exclaimed excitedly.
"Lost souls deserve a home, just as I do."
David nodded, turning to the others.
"I cannot grant your pardons yet—I'm not king. But now, I'll fight for the throne to pardon you and fulfill Lord's wish."
David raised his sword. "I won't force you, but you were followers from eight hundred years ago. If you want to continue this unfinished war, follow me!"
