Under the starlight, four figures—three adults and one child—gathered around a golden plate embedded with a gemstone, discussing something. Soon, Liam's voice emerged from the group. "These light specks represent mana foci, and the lines indicate the direction of mana flow. If these defensive magics were not concealed, like they are now, I could determine the content and location of the defensive magics they are using."
"Sounds impressive, Big Brother", Rose Crystal said, flying up and looking at Liam with adoration.
"It's not that impressive", Liam said, patting Rose Crystal's little head. "At least in the past, the Golden Snitch could operate indefinitely by drawing power from the surrounding magic, as long as the materials didn't age. But now, with the addition of scouting devices, it only runs for half an hour before needing to recharge."
"Half an hour is more than enough", Hermione said. "My plan for the raid doesn't require a long duration. In fact, it would be counterproductive if it dragged on."
"Alright, let's lay out the plan", Liam said, scanning the other three. "We'll split up. Rose Crystal, Gill, and I will create a disturbance at the front gate, forcing them to flee through the secret passages. Don't worry about them Apparating away; Apparition is forbidden in this area for defensive purposes."
"I'll be waiting at the secret passage exit to deliver the final blow", Hermione said, pointing to the small door at the back of the yard on the blue, 3D map. "If everything goes smoothly, one strike will be enough. The exit of the secret passage is quite narrow, allowing my magic to cover it completely."
"The operation starts in five minutes", Liam said, checking his watch with Hermione. He then led the two children straight to the front gate of the manor at the foot of the hill.
Five minutes later, Ryan and the others successfully reached the manor's front gate and destroyed the warding magic the Dark Wizards had set up nearby. As the second hand hit the 12 o'clock position, Ryan and the others quickly poured the green liquid from several large metal buckets onto the manor's lawn, paths, and buildings, and then cast a Fireball Spell.
Instantly, green flames erupted throughout the courtyard, followed by a series of sporadic explosions. Soon, the front door of the house opened, and two black shadows appeared.
Seeing the figures, Liam extended his hand and pointed into the air. A green beam of light struck one of the shadows, causing it to fall forward. At the same time, a purple stream of light hit the other shadow's chest. Liam clearly saw the diamond-shaped purple crystal penetrate the chest with immense force, knocking the figure back into the house.
Quickly, the black shadows that had been inside the house vanished, as if no one else was there. Even after the green flames consumed the entire front facade of the house, no one emerged.
"Big Brother, didn't you say there were 14 Dark Wizards in the house? How come only two were hit and the rest disappeared?" Rose Crystal asked, carefully examining the burning front door. "I thought they would rush out regardless of the danger."
"The Wildfire we used today, while not as powerful as Dreadfire, is still a formidable Magic Flame", Liam explained, watching the burning house. "A group of people rushing out through the Magic Flame, facing deadly attacks, requires strong will and good organization. Unfortunately, this group of Dark Wizards lacks both."
"My dear mother", Gill said. "In the memories this world has given me, I've seen many evil people. If these villains face danger alone, they might risk taking some damage to charge out recklessly. But when they're together, they won't do that because they don't want to let their companions off easy with their own sacrifices."
"Yes", Liam added. "Especially when they have a secret passage leading directly to a safe rear area, you can't expect a ragtag group to have the courage to face danger head-on."
As they spoke, a crackling sound came from the room, followed by a loud crash as the entire building collapsed. Green flames shot up high, like a beacon fire igniting.
"Nobody should be rushing out of here now", Liam said, looking at the much smaller pile of rubble caused by the basement collapse. "Let's go meet Hermione. I hope everything is fine with her."
As Ryan and the others headed to the back of the Manor to meet Hermione, the twelve Dark Wizards were quickly moving through a secret passage about five to six meters underground, occasionally complaining.
"Ivanov, didn't the Dark Lord of Britain promise us that no one would attack us here? Why did the Manor suddenly catch fire like that, and why did the Ionescu brothers die the moment they stepped out?" a tall figure in a black robe said.
Ivanov, the leader, looked rather frail and lacked the air of a leader. However, he wore a deep blue wizard robe made of silk with golden trim, clearly a high-end product from Gladrags Wizardwear, equipped with basic cleaning and warming charms.
But when he spoke, the dignity his clothes lent him vanished. "Shut up, Zhukov. Don't think I don't know you were the one who urged the Ionescu brothers to go out first. Whenever we face danger, you always hide at the back, but when it comes to taking advantage, you're the first to rush in, like when you were the first to loot and kill in that Muggle village."
"But I only got a golden necklace and a sapphire ring", Zhukov said with a grin. However, when Ivanov stopped and stared at him, he quickly waved his hands. "Alright, boss, I'll definitely be the first to go out—"
"Stand at the front now", Ivanov ordered, drawing his wand and pointing it at Zhukov. The others also looked at him with cold, menacing eyes.
"Alright, I'll stand at the front, don't look at me like that", Zhukov muttered, moving past the others. He whispered to himself, as if trying to convince them or himself, "Don't worry, the attackers won't be many. If they were, we would have known. Besides, this secret passage was dug after we moved in; no one knows about it—"
Once everyone was in position, the group of Dark Wizards quickly moved forward through the dark tunnel, illuminated only by the light from their wands. Zhukov, realizing no one was talking to him, stopped his muttering, and the tunnel was filled only with the sound of hurried footsteps.
With a loud crash, the Dark Wizards' footsteps quickened. They knew the other end of the tunnel was blocked by debris from the collapsed building, and many ventilation holes were also sealed. Now, their only way to freedom was to move forward.
The makeshift tunnel wasn't very long. After running for about seven or eight minutes, the Dark Wizards began to ascend. Finally, Zhukov, who was leading, touched a small wooden door.
"I'll go up first. If it's clear, I'll call you up", he said, tapping the door with his wand and opening it. He climbed up on all fours and, after about ten seconds, his voice echoed back into the tunnel.
"Guys, there's no one here. Come up quickly!"
