Chapter 670: Arrest
Chapter 670: Arrest
The young man witnessed Chen Chuan catching the thrown orbs with his bare hands, his expression filled with disbelief.
Chen Chuan's incredible strength was evident in his throw, but to catch it without damaging the orbs was astonishing. He had completely dissipated the force carried by the orbs.
Furthermore, Chen Chuan had done this while walking forward, leaving the young man deeply impressed. Even his brother, who could also block such throws, would not have been able to accomplish this feat.
Chen Chuan clenched his fist, and the orb instantly shattered into pieces, scattering on the ground. He continued his stride, moving forward.
The young man, seeing Chen Chuan approaching, felt a shiver of goosebumps on his skin. He quickly swept his feet, kicking most of the metal orbs off the platform, then turned and leaped backward, sprinting away. His strength lay in long-range attacks, and close combat was his weakness. The proximity of Chen Chuan filled him with fear, so he fled with all his might.
As the orbs rained down like a heavy downpour, Chen Chuan glanced at them and then surged forward, his body creating an invisible force that shattered the orbs upon impact.
In an instant, he covered the long distance, crashing through the building where the young man had been standing. The remaining orbs tumbled out, and within a breath, Chen Chuan appeared behind the young man.
Startled, the young man reacted swiftly, leaping onto the wall beside him. With a swift spin, he swung his hand, creating a thunderous sound, even without throwing anything.
This reverse strike was a secret technique passed down in his family, specifically designed to counter pursuing enemies. Its speed and unpredictability often resulted in the enemy's head being smashed open.
However, this time, Chen Chuan intercepted the attack with his arm, and upon impact, a loud cracking sound echoed as the young man's arm exploded, spraying blood and shattered bones. The force of the blow caused the young man to lose his balance.
Despite his high-speed movement, he was instantly thrown forward, but as he fell, he quickly extended his hand, grabbing the young man's shoulder. A capturing force penetrated his body, reaching his neck and spine, causing him to go limp in mid-air, unable to move. His eyes darted around, filled with fear, devoid of his previous arrogance.
As Chen Chuan seized the young man, someone in the distance aimed a long-range firearm at him, the scope zeroing in on his head.
Just as the shooter was about to pull the trigger, a hand pressed down on the barrel, causing him to look up in surprise. It was the man with the claw rope, who had somehow reached his position without notice. Shaking his head, he said, "There's no chance. That shot will only attract attention to us."
The gunman furrowed his brows, slowly releasing his finger from the trigger, but he still felt dissatisfied. "I don't think he noticed anything."
Many skilled warriors could sense an inexplicable danger when targeted by a firearm, but the gunman had been aiming at Chen Chuan for a while, and the latter showed no signs of evading or even acknowledging his presence. This left the gunman feeling unconvinced.
The claw rope man spoke seriously, "It's not that he didn't sense danger, but your shot wouldn't have penetrated his head. Your attack posed no threat to him, so it's no wonder he didn't pay you any mind."
He looked outside, "The investigation director from the processing bureau must have trained in some powerful cross-training energy technique. Today's operation is a failure. Let's retreat before we're trapped here."
"What about Radomisi?" asked the gunman.
Without directly answering, the claw rope man started walking away, saying, "Let's take care of ourselves first."
At that moment, a small airship flew overhead, and a flexible ladder was lowered. The two men quickly climbed aboard and soared into the sky.
Chen Chuan's gaze shifted to the airship, and he noticed the orbs scattered on the ground. He picked one up, weighed it in his hand, then twisted his waist, and with a surge of transformed organisms, he threw it towards the man.
The claw rope man immediately sensed something amiss and released the ladder, grabbing the end of the soft rope with one hand while swiftly pulling the other hand across, creating a cross-shaped band in front of him.
The orb collided with the band, generating a taut force that strained his arm bones and almost broke his finger bones. He was pulled backward, but the orb remained unwavering, colliding with his chest. He fell backward, tumbling through the air, and landed on the ground with a loud thud, managing to stabilize himself with a bent knee.
As the grenade finally lost its momentum and dropped to the ground from his chest, the wall in front of him suddenly exploded outward, sending bricks tumbling across the floor. A figure wearing a protective mask emerged from the debris.
His heart skipped a beat, and he silently gripped the extendable whip tightly.
As Chen Chuan approached, he fixed his gaze on the figure, not daring to look away for a moment. He had witnessed the man's strength in the previous fight, and he knew he was no match for him. If possible, he would have surrendered at this moment, but the high-priced mercenary agreement he had signed beforehand prevented that option. He had to fight with all his might.
As Chen Chuan entered within a certain distance, the pressure he exuded gradually intensified. Unable to remain still, he let out a muffled shout and leaped, whipping the extendable whip outward. With his energy technique, the whip suddenly extended significantly, lashing out like five long whips.
The extendable whip's length could be controlled through energy techniques, making it both sturdy and flexible, and difficult to defend against. Once it entangled an opponent's limb, he had a special technique to pull them to the ground or disrupt their balance, leaving them at his mercy.
Chen Chuan waved his hand, and his energy directly knocked the whip away in mid-air, preventing it from falling. However, the whip suddenly dispersed, revealing claw-like shapes. The front end of the whip had several small hooks that could penetrate an opponent's body upon contact, tearing away flesh and transformed organisms.
Before the whip could fall, he swiftly drew the supervisor's gun from his waist with his other hand, aiming it at his opponent just four or five meters away.
The claw-whip man was startled and immediately crouched to dodge, but the gun barrel followed his movement, and a gunshot rang out. Another shot followed, and then another...
Chen Chuan fired six shots in total, hitting his target at such close range. Although the man avoided vital areas, the supervisor's gun was specifically designed for fighting warriors, and even the bullets were customized. Each shot caused his body to tremble, and after six shots, his body and limbs were riddled with six bloody holes, exposing bones and internal organs. One of his legs seemed to have its bones shattered.
The claw-whip man stumbled a few steps to the side and then collapsed to the ground. He wanted to stimulate his blood energy to recover, but upon reflection, he realized it was pointless and would only lead to more suffering. He had already fulfilled his duty to the employer, so he sprawled out, lying on his back and no longer resisting.
The sniper above witnessed this scene, feeling both shocked and relieved. If he hadn't escaped earlier, he might have met the same fate.
Just then, a hissing sound filled the air, and something seemed to fly overhead, severing the flexible ladder. He fell from the sky.
Dazed, he saw combat creatures flying in from the outskirts as he fell. Meanwhile, intense gunfire erupted from the outermost personnel.
Before he could fully comprehend the situation, he crashed into the building below, and combat creatures leaped towards his fallen body.
Chen Chuan glanced at the scene, knowing it was something he had arranged before his arrival. He had gathered all the combat creatures in the nearby area, along with some members of the Ji Yang District Investigation Bureau and the city's security forces, led by Yuan Qiuyuan and two others.
To ensure secrecy, he had An Dun block the field domain information and strictly prohibited anyone from sending messages outside.
Since the key personnel had been dealt with beforehand, those on guard outside couldn't offer any meaningful resistance and were eliminated one by one.
Security personnel, led by members of the Investigation Bureau, rushed in and secured the mercenaries lying on the ground with customized manacles, preparing to take them all back.
Chen Chuan stepped aside and tapped his world credential, contacting Director Wu. He briefed him on the current situation.
Director Wu's voice was grave, "I understand. Let's bring them back first."
Chen Chuan nodded.
Director Wu continued, "Is Fang Zhixin the assistant of Old Chen?"
"Yes," Chen Chuan confirmed.
"Handle this matter yourself and tie up any loose ends," Director Wu instructed.
"Yes, Director Wu," Chen Chuan replied.
Fang Zhixin had been under investigation and arrest by the Temporary Special Action Committee, but the Investigation Bureau had already cleared him of his previous charges after Chen Bitong's sacrifice. Therefore, they had no obligation to capture Fang Zhixin, nor did they intend to work for the Temporary Special Action Committee.
After ending the call, Chen Chuan turned back to the small shop where Fang Zhixin was still waiting, having not taken the opportunity to leave. Chen Chuan looked at him and asked, "What were you about to say just now?"
