Chapter 67: Jerry's Noble Aura
Chapter 67: Jerry’s Noble Aura
"We’ll stop here. Filch is patrolling on the second floor, so be careful on your way back!"
After their recent encounter, the Weasley brothers found that Jerry was indeed much like what their younger brother Ron had described—a Slytherin who was a bit different from the rest.
Moreover, it seemed that Jerry had a real talent for pranks, which made him quite compatible with them. So, as they parted ways on the fourth floor, they kindly gave Jerry a heads-up.
"Thanks, I’ll be careful!"
Jerry glanced at his position on the fourth floor, nodded, and continued down the stairs.
It had only been ten days since the start of the term, yet the Weasley brothers were already curious enough to want to explore the forbidden fourth floor, despite the explicit ban.
Of course, at the opening feast, Dumbledore had personally declared the fourth floor off-limits, warning that any young wizard who ventured there was courting death. So, it was no surprise that the Weasley brothers, known for their boldness, couldn’t resist the temptation to sneak a peek.
The fact that they hadn’t gone there on the night of the feast was already a sign of remarkable self-control.
However, it was unlikely that they would have the same success as Harry and his friends in reaching the Three-Headed Dog. They might not even be able to get past the initial door.
Jerry had no interest in the Weasley brothers’ fourth-floor adventure.
He knew what secrets the fourth floor held, but the things inside were far beyond his current magical capabilities. It was better to focus on building a solid foundation in the theory of magic and learning more useful spells.
Activating Superman Mode, he skillfully avoided Filch, who was patrolling on the second floor, and made his way to the entrance of the Slytherin dungeon.
"Noble!"
He uttered the password and stepped into the Slytherin common room, which he had been away from for a month.
September 11th, Sunday morning, in the Great Hall of Hogwarts.
Jerry sat at the Slytherin table, elegantly eating his pumpkin porridge with a spoon while engrossed in "Curious Magical Problems and Their Solutions", a book he had borrowed from the library.
Most of the other young Slytherin wizards were excitedly discussing the upcoming flying lesson that afternoon.
The most prominent among them was Draco Malfoy, who was proudly recounting his various adventures on a flying broom before starting school, such as narrowly avoiding a Muggle helicopter.
Of course, these were mostly exaggerated tales, and the other young wizards, not to be outdone, were also boasting about their flying skills.
"Daphne, are you sneaking peeks at Jerry again?"
Pansy, with her short hair, gave a sly look at Jerry, who was engrossed in his book at the other end of the table, and nudged Daphne.
Daphne’s face turned slightly red as she retorted:
"What do you mean by ‘sneaking peeks’? I’m looking at him openly!"
Pansy chuckled softly.
There were only four girls in the Slytherin first-year class, so they shared a dorm and had a good relationship.
"But I heard Draco say that Jerry seems to be on good terms with the Gryffindor first-years and might be a traitor!"
Pansy’s face showed a hint of doubt after her laughter.
Daphne, however, immediately responded with anger:
"Draco is just jealous of Jerry’s excellence. Jerry is no traitor. You don’t understand his aspirations. He doesn’t need to oppose the Gryffindors because he doesn’t even consider them worth his attention. He is the best!"
"I actually don't think he's a traitor. At least he's earned a lot of house points for Slytherin. Right now, Slytherin has the most house points among all four houses!"
Pansy nodded in partial agreement.
She and Draco had known each other since childhood, and she was aware of Draco's competitive nature. It was likely that Jerry's recent performance had completely overshadowed his, which was why he was saying these things.
However, she didn't fully believe Daphne's claim. It had only been eleven days since the start of the term, and whether Jerry was as excellent as Daphne described would need more time to prove.
Slytherin's young wizards were all proud, and only someone far superior to them could lead them.
"But in this afternoon's Flying Broom class, your Jerry won't be able to stand out so much!"
At this moment, Pansy seemed to have thought of something and smiled, raising an eyebrow at Daphne.
By now, Pansy knew that Jerry wasn't from a famous wizarding family but had come from a Muggle orphanage. His parents might have been wizards, or one of them might have been a wizard.
This meant that Jerry had never touched a flying broom before.
Wizarding families, on the other hand, introduced their children to flying brooms from a very young age, so they were all extremely familiar with them.
While most of Draco's stories were exaggerated, his flying skills were genuinely good.
It would be difficult for Jerry to make a significant impression in the flying lesson.
Moreover, she had heard Draco say he planned to mock Jerry and the famous Harry Potter during the flying lesson.
Hearing Pansy's words, Daphne frowned slightly but quickly became resolute.
"Even if it's his first time, I believe Jerry will be the best. He will be the most outstanding, and no one can surpass him!"
"Alright!"
Pansy shrugged, a bit speechless.
But then she glanced at Jerry and smiled.
"He really does look like a true Slytherin. It's hard to imagine that he was born in a Muggle orphanage. Maybe his parents were famous wizards, and that's why he has such noble blood running through his veins, giving him such a noble demeanor!"
If Jerry knew what Pansy was thinking, he would have laughed out loud.
Noble demeanor? He just didn't like pumpkin porridge much, so he was scooping it out slowly with a spoon. If it were a savory tofu pudding, he would have finished it in no time.
Just then, a large flock of owls flew in through the Great Hall's windows, dropping letters and packages in front of the young wizards.
It was the daily morning mail delivery.
Draco Malfoy received a new batch of Magic Sweets from his mother and immediately started showing off to the hungry Goyle and Crabbe.
Pansy watched Draco, who was proudly displaying his sweets, then glanced at Jerry, who was elegantly sipping his pumpkin porridge and reading a book. She shook her head in resignation.
"Draco, compared to Jerry, you really have no advantage except for your background. Oh, and maybe your flying broom."
Girls tend to mature faster than boys. To Pansy, Draco's behavior of showing off his sweets seemed terribly childish.
Even if he excelled in the flying lesson, it would be hard to shake Jerry's current position in the hearts of all first-year Slytherins.
"But I still think Goyle is the coolest!"
Suddenly, the muscular Millicent interjected.
Pansy and Daphne looked at the greasy-mouthed Goyle and rolled their eyes simultaneously.
