Chapter 669: The Passing of Time
Chapter 669: The Passing of Time
Shizuru entrusted Growlithe and Magmar to Leocrown, asking the deity to introduce the ranch's situation to these two Pokemon.
He then made his way to the World Tree.
Crimson had sent him a message.
The end of the year was approaching in this world, and as Crimson watched the snowflakes drifting down from the sky, he couldn't help but feel homesick.
His training in the Pokemon world was almost complete, and he was ready to return.
When Shizuru arrived at the World Tree, he saw Crimson standing tall at the tree's peak, gazing into the distance at the snowy landscape.
For some time, Crimson had been staying on the World Tree to train.
The first person in the Pokemon world wasn't a title given in vain; he had defeated Mewtwo, Kyurem, Ho-Oh, Articuno, and Zapdos, with Dialga and Kyogre being the only ones to best him.
Despite these losses, Crimson's strength was evident.
As Shizuru's thoughts wandered, he asked, "Are you going back?"
Crimson turned to look at him.
"..."
After a moment of silence, he nodded slightly.
He walked forward with Pikachu and handed Shizuru something.
Shizuru looked down and was surprised to see the notebook Crimson had asked for months ago.
The notebook showed clear signs of use. Shizuru had assumed Crimson wanted to record the Pokemon's ecological data on the World Tree and bring it back to Professor Oak.
But now, it seemed otherwise.
"What's this?" Shizuru asked, puzzled, reaching out to take the notebook.
Opening it, he was astonished to find it filled with battle experiences and Pokemon training methods!
Crimson, rarely speaking, said with some difficulty, "These are some of my experiences... as a token of my gratitude."
Shizuru gasped in surprise.
These were champion-level breeding notes!
For a trainer just starting their journey, having this information would undoubtedly save them from countless detours.
There was no doubt about its value and significance.
"Goodbye," Crimson said, glancing at Shizuru before turning and following Meowth and Pikachu toward the spacetime gate in the center of the Explorers' Guild.
Shizuru didn't try to stop him; he understood that Crimson had his family, and with winter upon them and the year-end approaching, it was only natural for him to be sentimental.
Shizuru watched as Crimson departed.
Just as Crimson was about to enter the spacetime gate, a gust of wind blew, causing his hat to fall off.
Shizuru was momentarily startled, and in the next second, Crimson disappeared into the depths of the spacetime gate.
He picked up the hat, wanting to chase after him, but Crimson was already out of sight.
Shizuru felt helpless. He looked at the hat in his hand and decided to take it home, hanging it on the wall.
The year was drawing to a close, and the Knights Explorers had returned from their travels. The New Year was particularly lively this year.
Not only was Shizuru's family there, but Mew and Teddiursa had invited Pokemon from outside, and even Hoopa's family had come to join the festivities.
With the aura activated, Maya and Barz also visited the ranch to see Shizuru.
Along with Growlithe, Magmar, and the three Elder Care Pokemon Deities, the ranch was bustling.
On New Year's Eve, Shizuru and Ki Shu set off fireworks with the ranch's Pokemon in the snowy fields.
As the New Year's greetings rang out, the Union Calendar 204 came to a close.
After the New Year, the Knights Explorers embarked on their journey once more.
Shizuru, as usual, stayed at the ranch to care for Little Tree and the Pokemon, occasionally taking time to teach at the Blueberry Academy.
Life was simple and ordinary, but it was filled with happiness.
The Union Calendar 205 passed uneventfully, and no significant events occurred. Many people's destinies continued along their original paths.
Nemo became the Champion and frequently challenged Shizuru at the ranch, just as she had when she was younger.
Piper continued her studies at the Paldea Academy, and Shizuru occasionally called her or invited her to the ranch to relax for a day, a way to show his care for the child.
Satoshi returned from Alola and, after a period of rest, embarked on a new journey, eventually participating in the Elite Eight and becoming the Champion.
Lily also successfully found her father in the Galar region.
The only difference was that Adeku unexpectedly chose to retire, passing the Champion title to the Dragon Star, Alice.
Satoshi, unlike in the anime, didn't stop traveling but prepared to continue his journey, heading to the Paldea region for a new adventure.
This was his "promise" with Shizuru!
In the blink of an eye, the Union Calendar reached 206.
That year, Little Tree turned four years old.
Shizuru, now 28, started feeling a midlife crisis.
However, he didn't mind; he continued his daily routine of eating, drinking, and teasing his daughter.
He often made her cry, causing her to run away, shouting, "I'm never talking to Dad again!"
But if Shizuru didn't console her for a while, she would secretly peek through the door.
Occasionally, Shizuru would receive a delivery order and drive out to make the delivery.
During these times, Little Tree would sit under the eaves with the Pokemon, patiently waiting for her father to return.
Seeing this scene always warmed Shizuru's heart.
As he watched Little Tree grow, he couldn't help but feel a strange sense of emotion.
These were his children, his legacy in this world...
Like most children in the Pokemon world, they developed an interest in Pokemon and trainers as they grew older.
Little Tree was no exception.
On a sunny afternoon, after watching a match on TV, Little Tree stood on the coffee table and announced her life's dream.
"Dad, I want to go on a journey and become the strongest trainer in the world!"
"Get down from the coffee table first!" Shizuru exclaimed, his eyebrows jumping.
Little Tree obediently jumped down from the table.
Shizuru spoke earnestly, "Being a trainer is very challenging, and the wild can be dangerous. You're not even ten years old yet."
The three Elder Care Pokemon couldn't help but interject, "We can protect Little Tree."
Shizuru glared at them and signaled with his eyes, "You're spoiling her!"
The Elder Care Pokemon fell silent.
Ki Shu chimed in, "That's right. You have to take Pokemon with you every day in the wild, facing the elements. If you get sick, there's no one to take care of you."
Shintaro: "And what about Burnet? You can't even take care of yourself right now, so how will you manage then?"
Little Tree looked at Burnet by his side, his little face contorting into a troubled expression.
Shintaro and Ki Shu didn't continue the conversation, giving Little Tree time to think.
After a long while, Little Tree came up with an idea: "Then I'll start learning to take care of myself now! Once I've mastered it, can I go on a journey?"
Little Tree's eyes sparkled with anticipation.
"It depends on your performance." Shintaro handed him a notebook: "But even though you can't go on a journey, you can start learning how to take care of Pokemon from now on."
"This notebook was left by an older brother. It contains methods for raising Pokemon and battle strategies. You can have Rotom read it to you, and if you come across something you don't understand, Rotom can explain it, or you can ask me or your mother."
Little Tree eagerly took the notebook: "Was that big brother really amazing? What kind of person was he?"
"Of course, he was an incredible Champion." Shintaro smiled and nodded.
"Wow!" Little Tree immediately took the notebook, treating it like a treasure, and ran to his room with Burnet to study it.
"Isn't it a bit early to expose her to all this?" Ki Shu couldn't help but ask.
"It's fine. Let her try to get a feel for it; it won't harm Little Tree." Shintaro replied.
"That's true!"
Meanwhile, deep within the Pantier Giant Pit, at the Fourth Observation Station.
Dr. Orلين and Dr. Forest's foreheads glistened with beads of sweat as they watched the monitor screen intently.
Roar of the Month, Wing of the Wind, Howl of the Tail, Fierce Fungus, Crawling Wings, Iron Thorns, Iron Warrior...
Countless Paradox Pokemon were engaged in a frenzied riot, clashing with each other in a chaotic frenzy.
"What's going on here?" Dr. Orلين muttered.
Why were these Paradox Pokemon, usually so calm and indistinguishable from regular Pokemon, suddenly rioting?
"It's not just the Fourth Observation Station; the Third, Second, and First Observation Stations have all reported massive riots of Paradox Pokemon!" Dr. Forest's brows furrowed as he quickly asked: "Ai, calculate the probability of this situation occurring immediately!"
"Yes, sir!" Dr. Forest's AI brain sprang into action, accessing the monitoring data from the entire research institute. After a long while, he spoke: "It's suspected that the excessive number of Paradox Pokemon in the Pantier Giant Pit has disrupted the ecological balance here!"
"How could this happen?" Dr. Forest whispered.
They had always been controlling the number of Paradox Pokemon in the giant pit!
"Oh no, we've been discovered!"
Dr. Orلين's expression changed as she saw on the screen an Iron Moth flying swiftly towards them, its body glowing with a brilliant light like the sun, as if it had found their hiding place and was preparing to launch an attack.
They tried to hide, but it was already too late.
A thick beam of light shot out, causing the ground to tremble violently.
"Boom!"
The stored energy in the institute was hit, instantly igniting a sea of flames.
"Danger!" Dr. Forest tried to protect his wife.
But in the next second, a rapid series of explosions pierced his eardrums.
A wave of shock and flames swept through the area.
"Gogoat!" Dr. Orلين shouted.
As the Gogoat closest to the energy tank was about to be hit, Dr. Orلين rushed forward, shielding the Gogoat with her body.
Dr. Forest also rushed over to protect his wife.
"Boom!"
In the midst of the violent explosions, their figures were engulfed by flames and blasts.
The Iron Moth's eyes flashed with yellow light. Seeing no signs of life below, it turned and slowly departed.
After an unknown amount of time, the flames that had engulfed the Fourth Observation Station gradually subsided.
Amidst the charred ruins, a seemingly timid Gogoat cautiously crawled out.
Inside the Zero Zone Research Institute.
Dr. Orلين's AI and Dr. Forest's AI were momentarily startled, sensing the accident at the Fourth Observation Station.
After a moment, they witnessed everything that had transpired through the monitors.
Dr. Orلين and Dr. Forest had lost their lives protecting that Gogoat.
Even though they were AI, they possessed genuine emotions.
Watching that scene, their hearts were heavy with sorrow.
But soon, as they observed the images from the station, the expressions of the two AI doctors turned grave.
The entire Pantier Giant Pit had erupted into a riot.
The monitoring screens showed numerous Paradox Pokemon breaching the defense program at the top of the giant pit and escaping into the Paldea Region!
The time machine continued to operate, transporting Paradox Pokemon from the past and future to the present without end.
If this continued, the entire Pantier Giant Pit, and possibly the entire Paldea Region, would face catastrophic destruction!
The time machine had to be shut down immediately!
However, as AI, they had strict directives in place, and the Paradise Defense Program within them would cause them to indiscriminately attack anyone attempting to shut down the time machine.
The two AI quickly calculated a strategy to handle this incident, identifying someone capable of managing the Paradox Pokemon riot, shutting down the time machine, and handling the affairs of the two doctors, whom they were on friendly terms with.
The vast computer system swiftly searched for relevant data.
Soon, a face appeared in the minds of the two AI.
It was Shintaro, the top Trainer who had prevented numerous world-threatening disasters and claimed the ultimate championship in the World Championships.
He knew everything about Paradox Pokemon and had once toured the Zero Zone Research Institute with the two doctors.
There was no one in the entire Paldea Region better suited to stop this catastrophe than Shintaro.
Dr. Orلين's AI retrieved Dr. Orلين's communication device and dialed Shintaro's number.
A moment later, the call connected.
Dr. Orلين's AI looked at the man on the other end and slowly spoke:
"Shintaro, I implore you to come to the Zero Zone Research Institute. We need your help."
