Chapter 669: Devouring God
Chapter 669: Devouring God
The black-robed leader had his chest pierced through, slowly kneeling onto the ground.
Mo Hua casually tossed two fireballs, detonating them on the black-robed leader to ensure he was truly incapacitated.
He then used his spiritual sense to peer into the leader's qi mechanism, confirming that his corpse's spiritual energy was stagnant and his breath had ceased; only then did he relax.
"What a hassle..."
Mo Hua sighed in relief.
Killing a Demon Cultivator at the mid-foundation establishment stage by himself was indeed exhausting.
He had to scheme, ambush, deceive, and launch a sneak attack, utilizing arrays and forbidden techniques to barely succeed.
Even then, he had to be cautious and flawless in his execution, as a single mistake with his small stature could lead to fatal consequences if this black-robed villain seized the opportunity.
It was just too difficult...
Fortunately, he had finally taken care of him.
Mo Hua breathed a sigh of relief.
The valley was enclosed, desolate, and secluded, devoid of any human presence.
It was a place specifically chosen by Mo Hua for the black-robed leader's demise, hidden from prying eyes.
Now that the leader was dead, Mo Hua intended to search his body for any clues or valuable items.
However, as he fixed his gaze, Mo Hua was taken aback, his expression changing slightly.
This black-robed leader, despite being dead, had not undergone the same corruption as the other slave traders, where demonic energy eroded their flesh, turning them into a pool of black liquid.
His physical body remained intact.
Sensing something amiss, Mo Hua cautiously took two steps back.
But in an instant, a putrid gust assailed his senses.
Mo Hua felt something approaching him, yet there was nothing visible before him.
Frowning, he deepened his gaze, his irises rippling as he employed the Heavenly Machine Calculation to uncover the truth hidden in the void surrounding him.
The moment his heavenly vision opened, Mo Hua's pupils constricted.
Before him, at some point, a sinister eye had appeared, pressing right against his face, mere millimeters away.
Mo Hua could clearly see the protruding blood vessels, the bloody eye socket, the entwined pale pink tendrils, and the emotions of brutality and coldness, among others, that were encompassed within the pupil of this sinister eye...
This "evil eye" startled Mo Hua, and he retreated in panic.
However, the sinister eye was faster.
In the blink of an eye, the tendrils on the sinister eye unfurled like a ball of sinful yarn, spreading out and attaching themselves to Mo Hua, clinging to him tightly.
At the same time, the misshapen sinister eye drilled relentlessly toward Mo Hua's fair forehead.
It had no choice but to do so.
Its original host had died, devoid of vitality, forcing it to seek a new host to parasitize within living flesh.
And in this deserted, enclosed valley, the only "living" person was Mo Hua.
It had no other options.
Despite feeling confusion, incomprehension, anger, wariness, and an unknown "fear" toward Mo Hua, faced with the extinction of the divine path, it had no choice but to use Mo Hua as its new fleshly womb.
Mo Hua seemed to be controlled by the tendrils of the sinister eye, losing his ability to resist as the bloody evil thoughts eroded him.
The sinister eye's plan was gradually succeeding.
The evil thoughts transformed into fleshy tendrils, binding Mo Hua's physical body securely.
On the sinister eye, the bloody flesh began to peel away, transforming into a pale golden eye that was dignified and domineering.
It gradually drilled into Mo Hua's forehead, breaking through his sea of consciousness and entering his spiritual sense.
Mo Hua's sea of consciousness proved to be unexpectedly resilient.
As a result, breaking into it took a considerable amount of time.
After entering Mo Hua's sea of consciousness, the pale golden sinister eye began to distort, recondensing flesh and blood.
The scarlet blood surged and swirled, gathering on the sinister eye, gradually solidifying, incubating various putrid fleshly bits, and congealing into a misshapen, grotesque mass of bloody flesh, eventually assembling into a huge, deformed fleshly demon.
The demon had sinister ram horns on its head and a pale golden eye on its forehead.
The golden sinister eye flashed, and the massive demon's fleshly body trembled before opening a pair of blood-colored demon eyes, looking down at the human's sea of consciousness before it.
Despite its ancient age and extraordinary nobility, having parasitized countless "servants" and savored innumerable "sacrifices," it was still astonished by the sea of consciousness before it.
Such pure spiritual sense! So dense and abundant.
Having such a perfect spiritual sense, this human brat would be a waste even as a "sacrifice."
If not for his inferior bloodline, he could even have served as a "divine womb."
However...
The ram-horned demon's gaze deepened as doubt filled its mind.
"Why... do I feel wariness and even fear?"
"Why do I have the killing intent as if facing a formidable enemy?"
"It's merely a human, a mere dog on the path of the divine way..."
"Why am I feeling afraid?"
"What am I afraid of?"
The bloodstained gaze of the ram-horned demon swept the surroundings, but it found nothing amiss.
The golden sinister eye on its forehead emanated a dignified pale golden radiance, yet even under the illumination of this golden light, there was nothing unusual to be found.
The ram-horned demon found the situation peculiar.
Strip away worldly fame and fortune, as well as the outer shell, and the innate thoughts within people were either vulgar, depraved, or shallow and weak.
All that glitters is not gold.
They might have powerful cultivations, but their willpower was feeble.
Such cultivators were commonplace.
Not to mention this puny little brat who had just reached the initial stage of the Foundation Establishment.
He was probably only so pure because of his young age and lack of exposure to the desires of the mortal world.
What else could one expect from him?
The demon with ram horns stared at Mo Hua with greedy eyes, a sinister smile playing at the corners of its mouth.
"I'll eat him!"
No matter what schemes or dangers lurked, as long as it devoured him, it would be the end of its troubles.
Humans were meant to be bait for the Grand Dao, hounds for the deities, inherently lowly creatures.
For it to be consumed by this demon was, in fact, an honor.
It would devour his spiritual sense and use his sea of consciousness as a cradle.
This little brat was much better than those "loyally stupid" fools.
The ram-horned demon opened its bloody maw, ready to consume the pure spiritual sense that filled Mo Hua's sea of consciousness.
As soon as the spiritual sense entered its mouth, its eyes widened in surprise.
This spiritual sense was too delicious!
It was so delectable that it didn't even seem human!
The ram-horned demon was shocked, and its eyes turned greedy as it began to devour more of the sweet spiritual sense in large mouthfuls.
The delightful spiritual sense brought it bodily and mental pleasure.
Its blood-colored demon eyes narrowed slightly, and the golden sinister eye on its forehead shone with a lazy golden light.
In its moment of carelessness, the ram-horned demon failed to notice a hidden figure slowly approaching it.
This figure then leaped onto its head.
A tender little hand appeared and reached out, attempting to pluck out the golden sinister eye on its forehead.
It seemed to want to tear out the eye directly.
Faced with this sudden crisis, the ram-horned demon immediately closed its third eye.
But it was just a tad too slow.
The tender little hand had already clawed at the golden eye, and the immense force behind the strike caused several wounds to appear, from which a golden liquid resembling blood flowed.
However, the hand was a bit too small and slow to completely tear out the eye.
The ram-horned demon had closed its third eye.
At the same time, its demonic claws, carrying a bloody aura, angrily swiped at its head.
Mo Hua had no choice but to jump off its head, taking a few steps back to create some distance, before stabilizing himself and revealing his figure.
He had a beautifully painted face, red lips, white teeth, and looked like a porcelain doll.
His spiritual sense body had solidified due to the transformation of his spiritual sense, and his figure seemed to be permanently fixed at an even younger age than his original body.
The ram-horned demon saw Mo Hua's appearance clearly, and its eyes widened in shock.
"A spiritual sense incarnation?"
"He's just a little brat?!"
The golden sinister eye on its forehead, injured by Mo Hua's claw, throbbed with pain.
The ram-horned demon felt both relieved and furious as it recalled the previous scene:
"What a despicable little brat!"
"What does he think he's doing?!"
Mo Hua's little hand still had traces of the "golden blood" on it.
He licked the golden blood from his fingers and suddenly, his eyes lit up.
This was it! The taste of the golden spiritual sense marrow!
The ram-horned demon witnessed this scene, feeling both shocked and enraged, with a hint of fear in its voice as it roared:
"How dare you!"
"You... How dare you devour the 'divine marrow'?!
"Divine marrow?" Mo Hua was taken aback, and he couldn't help but lick his fingers again, nodding with a mischievous smile:
"It tastes pretty good!"
The ram-horned demon's eyes turned crimson with rage.
It felt that its dignity had been insulted and its divine nature profaned.
A mortal who was supposed to be sacrificed and consumed by the deities dared to be so audacious, sipping on divine marrow and tasting the "blood of the deities."
Arrogant! Ignorant! Blasphemous!
The ram-horned demon was furious beyond measure. However, when it looked again, the figure of the little brat had once again disappeared.
"Hiding?"
The ram-horned demon's pupils constricted.
Why couldn't it see through his hiding spot? It should have been able to do so from the outside.
Could it be that outside, it saw through his physical body, but here, in the sea of consciousness, it couldn't perceive his spiritual sense body?
Impossible!
The ram-horned demon was astonished.
But it had no time to think further, as it knew that once this little brat hid himself, the next attack would soon follow...
Indeed, moments later, the spiritual aura on the right flickered, and a small figure leaped up, throwing a punch at the ram-horned demon's head.
The ram-horned demon's expression turned stern, and it immediately turned around, throwing a punch to meet the attack.
A tender little fist and a hideous, massive demonic fist collided.
The powerful spiritual force rippled outward.
Mo Hua's small fist remained intact.
However, the demon's fist now had several bloody scratches.
The ram-horned demon was stunned.
What was this little brat?
How could a human cultivator's spiritual sense body surpass that of a demon born from sinister thoughts?
Mo Hua, finally able to indulge in his "body cultivator" fantasy, was filled with excitement as he threw punches with his tiny fists.
The ram-horned demon fought back with all its might, but despite its massive size and hideous appearance, it was at a disadvantage.
Mo Hua nimbly dodged with the Flowing Water Step.
Taking advantage of this gap, the Ram-horned Demon opened its golden sinister eye on its forehead once more.
A beam of golden light shot out from the sinister eye, illuminating Mo Hua's body.
To the Ram-horned Demon's astonishment, several faint golden threads appeared on Mo Hua's body, resembling divine marrow or bone marrow.
The Ram-horned Demon's eyes widened in shock, and its shrill voice rose in alarm, "You're not human!"
Mo Hua was taken aback.
The Ram-horned Demon's gaze trembled as it demanded, "Divine marrow entering the divine body, forming a divine embryo... What divine lord's infant form are you?"
Mo Hua was stunned.
But soon, the Ram-horned Demon frowned, confusion clouding its features, "No, that's not it..."
"You possess the foundation for the transformation of divine sense, but why is your divine marrow so thin?"
"Why is there no sign of 'sacrifice'?"
"Why is your humanity so abundant, yet your divinity so minuscule?"
"This is impossible..."
The Ram-horned Demon's gaze sharpened as it glared at Mo Hua, "Where does your divine position come from?"
"What offerings have you consumed? Whose faith do you receive?"
"Where is your authority?"
"What 'Dao' do you follow?"
...
Mo Hua was bewildered by the Ram-horned Demon's questions.
Divine embryo, transformation, divine marrow, sacrifice, divine position, offerings...
What was this ugly, ram-horned demon talking about? He was utterly confused...
Could this be... the knowledge of a deity?
Not knowing how to respond, Mo Hua blinked and decided to put on an act. He assumed a cold and aloof expression, lifting his head high and puffing out his chest in an arrogant manner.
"You're not worthy of knowing such things!"
The Ram-horned Demon's face darkened, but it dared not voice its anger.
If this kid was truly a divine embryo, incubating an unknown deity within his sea of consciousness, then with just its single remaining eye, it had no way of dealing with him.
If he was a divine embryo, then that would explain...
The fear it had felt earlier must have come from its wariness of a complete divine embryo.
Moreover...
The Ram-horned Demon's gaze turned slightly solemn.
Although this divine embryo didn't seem to know what divine position it occupied, the aura above its divine position was somewhat similar to its own.
It seemed to also originate from the Great Wilderness.
Perhaps there was some connection there.
However, it couldn't understand where this divine embryo's position came from...
Seeing that Mo Hua's act had fooled it, the Ram-horned Demon was secretly pleased. He straightened his face and sternly interrogated, "You've violated my taboo!"
The Ram-horned Demon's eyes narrowed, and its gaze turned grave.
Mo Hua continued, "Tell me your origins, and I may spare your life!"
The Ram-horned Demon's eyes flashed with a dignified light as it declared, "I am the Master of the Great Wilderness!"
Mo Hua frowned, "Nonsense! The Master of the Great Wilderness is the ruler of the Great Wilderness. How could it be so weak?"
Mo Hua wanted to find out more.
But before he could say anything else, the Ram-horned Demon's expression changed drastically, and its eyes turned cold, "You're not a divine lord!
Mo Hua's heart skipped a beat.
The Ram-horned Demon's gaze sharpened, "A divine lord wouldn't ask such shallow questions. You're a fake! You know nothing!"
Mo Hua was helpless.
This was the downside of lacking knowledge about cultivation... no, divine cultivation.
He wanted to pretend to be knowledgeable, but as soon as he encountered an "expert," his act fell apart with just a few words.
"I just woke up, so I forgot..."
Mo Hua came up with an excuse to try and smooth things over.
However, the Ram-horned Demon sneered, "How could something inscribed in your origin be forgotten?"
Mo Hua's act was seen through, and he felt a mix of anger and shame.
This ugly, ram-horned freak! It wasn't giving him any face!
Fine, if you won't let me pretend, then I won't pretend! I'll just destroy you! Without another word, Mo Hua vanished and reappeared in front of the Ram-horned Demon, throwing a punch at its face.
The Ram-horned Demon crossed its arms to block the punch.
But its arms were left with cracks, and its body was forced backward, much to its shock.
"This little ghost's divine sense incarnation is so powerful?"
"Is he really a deity?"
Before it could think further, Mo Hua charged again, delivering a simple and unadorned punch.
The Ram-horned Demon blocked once more.
After several exchanges, having taken numerous punches from Mo Hua, the Ram-horned Demon flew into a rage.
"This is outrageous!"
For so many years, it had stood above all creatures in the world, and yet it had never suffered such humiliation. How dare this little brat treat it like a punching bag?!
The Ram-horned Demon's golden sinister eye on its forehead widened in surprise.
The golden divine marrow, like blood, flowed throughout its body.
The Ram-horned Demon's body suddenly swelled, its flesh transforming from blood-red to a faint golden color.
Its entire body exuded a shocking aura.
Mo Hua was startled but decided to give it a try anyway, throwing another punch.
The golden Ram-horned Demon sneered and casually swatted Mo Hua away with the back of its hand.
Mo Hua tumbled on the ground for a distance before coming to a stop and slowly climbing to his feet.
His divine sense incarnation was extremely resilient, and he showed no signs of injury.
"You're pushing your luck, brat. Do you really think I can't kill you?"
Mo Hua sighed, feeling helpless.
Being a body cultivator was fun, but it was also exhausting, and it wasn't easy to win against such a tricky opponent.
As the Horned Demon observed Mo Hua's demeanor, a bad premonition crept into its mind.
This brat... did he have something else up his sleeve? What else could he possibly do?
Then, Mo Hua pointed at the Horned Demon from a distance.
The Horned Demon's pupils contracted slightly as it noticed faint blue chains of water wrapping around its body, locking down its evil-thoughts-formed body.
"Art of Divine Consciousness?"
The Horned Demon frowned, and then a flash of golden light emanated from its body, breaking free from the water prison.
Just as it was about to rush towards Mo Hua again, it noticed red patterns appearing under its feet, with fire intertwining to form a complex design.
"This is... an array formation?!'
The Horned Demon's eyes widened in shock as it turned to Mo Hua, its voice heavy with surprise:
"You're definitely not a deity!"
Mo Hua was taken aback.
What did that mean?
Did using an array formation mean he wasn't a deity?
Were deities not allowed to use array formations?
Although he was confused, Mo Hua didn't waste any time. He immediately detonated the Fire Array.
The fire engulfed the Horned Demon.
After a moment, the flames dissipated, revealing the Horned Demon, whose pale golden flesh now bore cracks.
Despite its disheveled appearance, the Horned Demon's expression was unusually calm.
A cruel smile even curled at the corners of its mouth.
"Manifesting an array formation within the sea of consciousness..."
"In all my years of existence, 'consuming' countless cultivators, there have been very few who could manifest array formations within their sea of consciousness."
"I didn't expect that you, at such a young age, would be able to achieve this..."
"But this level of array formation is still insufficient."
A crack began to form on the Horned Demon's forehead.
The golden evil eye protruded from its skull, tendrils spreading out into the air, exuding an overwhelming and irresistible pressure that seemed to come from a deity.
"As long as you're human, it'll be easy to deal with you..."
"Humans inherently revere deities, it's something etched into their soul..."
"I'll make you experience the true might and dignity of a deity's origin."
Suddenly, the golden evil eye quivered, and the pupil blazed with a surge of golden light.
An overwhelming force, imbued with unknown rules and profound truths, instantly enveloped the area.
Mo Hua was enveloped by the golden light, his expression changing drastically.
He struggled with all his might, but it seemed he was intimidated by the power of the light, his body unable to move. After a while, his expression turned dull, and he stopped resisting.
The Horned Demon revealed a cold smile.
How dare a mere human rebel against a deity?
The golden evil eye quivered, as if starving and craving to feast.
It was going to savor this rare treat, a "sacrifice" comparable to a divine fetus.
Tendrils of bloody flesh extended from the evil eye, wrapping around Mo Hua like a cocoon, binding him tightly.
Then, it pulled Mo Hua towards its massive, gaping maw.
Its fangs were sharp, and its mouth resembled an abyss.
Saliva dripped from the corners of the Horned Demon's mouth.
Just as it was about to devour Mo Hua, something unexpected happened.
Mo Hua, bound like a dumpling and looking dazed, suddenly blinked and grinned mischievously.
The Horned Demon was taken aback, but it immediately realized what was happening. More tendrils shot towards Mo Hua.
Mo Hua's eyes sparkled, and he whispered:
"Open!"
Suddenly, array formations appeared all over the ground.
The Li Fire Burial Array!
These array formations intertwined and linked together, forming a massive composite array.
Rocks protruded from the ground, forming a prison that completely trapped the Horned Demon's fleshly body.
The dense Li fire exploded, burning the tendrils one by one.
Mo Hua struggled free from the tendrils' grasp and leaped onto the Horned Demon's head, right in front of the protruding golden evil eye. He smiled innocently at it.
The golden evil eye was filled with terror.
It unleashed an even more powerful divine might, but Mo Hua seemed unaffected.
It tried to retract its eye, but Mo Hua wouldn't let it.
He grabbed the eye with both hands, as if he had found a treasure, and bit his teeth, using all his strength to pull it out.
A piercing, ear-splitting scream echoed.
The golden evil eye was forcibly pulled out of the Horned Demon's evil-thoughts-formed body by Mo Hua.
Mo Hua seized the opportunity and leaped away.
The Li fire composite array on the ground detonated, incinerating all the blood-colored demonic flesh and tendrils.
The golden evil eye, now in Mo Hua's grasp, trembled uncontrollably.
A human's divine consciousness shouldn't be able to resist the might of a deity...
It screamed in a shrill voice:
"You're not human!"
"You're not a deity either!"
"What... what are you?!"
Mo Hua looked at the pale golden eye and couldn't help but lick his lips. "I am... a 'devourer' of deities!"
