Chapter 668: Old Man Has Tolerated You For Far Too Long!
Chapter 668: Old Man Has Tolerated You For Far Too Long!
Despite Donquixote Doflamingo's and the black-and-white pupil-masked man's attempts to stop him, Kuro still obtained the information on this so-called member of the Pansha family.
All thanks to Lucci.
"Take a look", Kuro waved the documents in his hand at the three masked individuals, "Lucci is just so much better than you lot. At least this guy knows not to be a liability and can tell what's most important."
This fellow, at least he has a sense of prioritization.
Ignoring the hostility radiating from the three CP0 agents wearing masks, and disregarding Donquixote Doflamingo's gloomy expression, Kuro began reading the information.
The file included a photograph of the person - tall and thin, appearing rather listless.
David Pancha, currently thirty years old, makes his living raising pigs.
That's right, you read it correctly.
He hasn't done much in his life. Since birth and acquiring his abilities, he's been raising pigs.
His father was also a pig farmer before him, his grandfather too, and for many generations before that, all the way back, they were pig farmers.
"Is that all?"
Kuro raised his eyebrows, "Someone from generations of pig farmers - why did you investigate him so thoroughly that you uncovered every detail about his ancestors going back eighteen generations?"
His words left everyone in silence.
Kuro turned his gaze to Donquixote Doflamingo, "I want an explanation. An explanation!"
"Kshhhkshhkshh, Kuro, I don't recommend you use him. This guy's a traitor!"
Donquixote Doflamingo chuckled, though he offered no further explanation.
Kuro smirked and looked toward CP0. The three masked agents remained silent.
Finally, Kuro fixed his gaze on Lucci.
"Lucci! This wasn't something that needed to be said!" The black-and-white pupil masked man barked.
"Everything must be done with the mission as priority."
Lucci stated calmly, "Our plan has failed, so at the very least we must accomplish something. We need to help Golden Lion make a genuine decision."
He paused briefly before continuing, "David Pancha, or rather the Pansha family, was once a servant of the Donquixote family eight hundred years ago."
"Huh?"
Kuro blinked his eyes, "A servant?"
"That's right."
Lucci nodded, "Eight hundred years ago, the Twenty Royal Families established the World Government. Nineteen of the kings moved to Mariejois, relinquishing their rights to the world. Only the Nefertari Family remained. In Dressrosa, the Donquixote family also migrated to Mariejois, entrusting their rights to the Riku family."
"However, Pansha family, the most loyal servants of Donquixote, rebelled at this time. That battle brought heavy losses to Dressrosa. Although the Pansha family was ultimately defeated, they weren't completely wiped out. For reasons unknown to this day, King Riku's lineage spared the Pansha family. They retained their nobility status and have been living in seclusion in a corner of Dressrosa ever since."
"Hmm? So then what? Was it really just a simple failed coup d'etat?" Kuro asked.
"No one knows. It's been too long."
Lucci shook his head, "But one thing is certain - it's recorded that Samuel Pancha, head of the Pansha family eight hundred years ago, said one sentence."
"From that day forth, there was no longer any meaning in wielding a sword."
Upon hearing this, Kuro narrowed his eyes slightly, "That's it?"
"That's it." Lucci confirmed.
Kuro turned his gaze to Donquixote Doflamingo, who wore a smile but remained silent, apparently unwilling to say more.
"Fine."
Kuro sighed and shouted, "Moer! Moer!!"
Whoosh!
A white light appeared around them.
Moer scratched his head as he materialized in the corner of the tent, "Uh, were you looking for me?"
Kuro handed the documents to Moer, "Go find this person and bring him back. His address is recorded here."
...
In the most remote corner of Dressrosa.
Thanks to Donquixote Doflamingo's development over the years, Dressrosa doesn't really have poor areas or villages. However, poverty is always relative.
This area is simply less developed than the central regions.
This place could be considered Dressrosa's 'slums.'
Because of Birdcage, buildings at Dressrosa's outskirts had turned to ruins. Now that Birdcage has disappeared, the citizens have begun rebuilding their homes by themselves.
Fortunately, thanks to Moer and other Navy members' efforts, not a single civilian suffered any injuries.
Among the ruins, a tall and thin man with a vacant expression was squatting on the ground, sweeping up pig carcasses.
Pig carcasses.
The Navy focused only on rescuing people, not pigs.
Buildings and properties damaged by Birdcage were lost, and pigs were no exception - sliced into pieces by those sharp threads.
Several children ran noisily past, one with hair covering his eyes and freckles on his face wearing a mischievous grin.
"Isn't that David?"
"Yeah, it's David!"
"How did that saying go again? One, two..."
The children shouted together, "Pansha decayed, generation after generation burdened, man without purpose, pig farmer David!"
The listless man turned his head and sighed, "It's you bunch again, Walis. Go home quickly. Your father was looking for you just now."
The freckled child hesitated for a moment, then stuck out his tongue, "Just David, don't talk to me like that!"
He grinned and approached, "Hey David, I'm having some trouble."
"Huh?"
David was taken aback and stood up, "What trouble?"
The freckled child put on a sorrowful expression, looking pitiful, "You've seen it yourself. Our house is gone. Father always makes me work, and I can't even get enough to eat. I'm really hungry now, so could you give me some money? Also, help Father with his work. Come on, you'll help me, right?"
Gurgle-gurgle~
Right as the freckled child spoke, a sound came from nearby.
It was David's stomach growling from hunger.
David patted his stomach and nodded with a serious expression, "Of course, I'll help you!"
He reached into his patch-filled pants and pulled out some banknotes, hesitating a bit, "I only have three thousand Beri, is that enough?"
"That's plenty!"
The freckled boy grabbed the money and grinned again, "Hehe, David, you really are too easy to fool! Come on, I'll treat you all to hot dogs!"
"That... I don't think that's quite right."
A young girl expressed concern, "Walis, you just ate not long ago. Also, David's pigs are all gone. It's not really right for us to trick him like this."
"What's the big deal? This man was just born to be made fun of!"
The freckled boy waved the banknotes and walked forward, then turned back, "David, remember to help Father with his work."
"I understand." David nodded firmly.
"See, he agreed himself. It's not like I forced him. This guy just can't say no to anyone."
The freckled boy sneered contemptuously, "Come on, don't want to eat? Then don't!"
"I, I want to eat!" The young girl finally followed behind the freckled boy with the rest of the children, disappearing down the street.
David watched them leave, shook his head, and looked at the pig carcasses around him, "Well first, I should go help Walis's father."
"Uh, excuse me."
Suddenly, a voice came from nearby.
David turned his head and saw a man with a lazy expression had somehow appeared beside him.
"Navy?" David asked in surprise.
"Yes, my name is Moer. I'm currently a corporal in the Navy and also a messenger for Golden Lion's Vice Admiral. Our boss wants to see you. Would you mind coming with me?"
"I refuse."
"Huh?"
Moer was taken aback, "Excuse me, I just saw earlier those kids said you're someone who never says no to anything."
"I refuse."
David repeated firmly, "I have to help Walis's father with his work soon. I don't have time. Or, you can wait until I finish."
"Oh, is that so?"
Moer took out a Transponder Snail, "Well then, let me have someone help you with that."
Not long after, a roar from an unfamiliar man echoed through the street.
"Walis, you little brat! Where are you! You actually got the Navy, our saviors, to help me with my work! When I find you, I'll skin you alive!"
...
In the Navy base tent.
"Hmm? Lida, you're back? Where's that little person?"
Kuro asked as he saw Lida walking in.
"He left."
Lida replied, "What a strange little person. He seemed too easy to fool, believing everything I said. He said he'd bring their princess to play with me later. Their princess, Mansherry, is currently organizing a blood donation event to help the injured from the war."
"Let them volunteer for that kind of thing. After all, no civilians were injured."
Kuro said, glancing outside, "How come Moer is taking so long? He has the most convenient ability, yet he's dragging his feet on this task."
"Kshhhkshhkshh, that guy is quite interesting, Kuro. Your subordinates seem very capable. You managed to get past my Birdcage because of that guy's ability, didn't you?" Donquixote Doflamingo chuckled at this point.
"Of course. Your Birdcage was such a hassle. When there's an easier way, why wouldn't I use it?" Kuro nodded.
The black-and-white pupil masked man spoke, "Roadmark Devil Fruit? We've heard of it too. It's a good ability for espionage. Golden Lion, we'd like to take that man..."
"Yuck."
Kuro flicked his finger, and a stone fist emerged from the ground, slamming heavily into the man's stomach.
The man coughed violently and flew straight out of the tent, crashing heavily to the ground.
"Old Man Has Tolerated You For Far Too Long!"
Kuro glared at him, "You just won't stop, will you! Always wanting this and that! Damn it, you're supposed to be assisting me! Not the other way around!"
"You might as well tell the Five Elders to find someone else to make decisions, or you better keep that Old Man of yours shut up! I'll tell you one last time - I'm not your subordinate! The Navy isn't the Cipher Pol's subordinate either! Either you have the ability to make the Navy willingly demote itself to become CP's subordinate, or you better shut up, Old Man!"
"Lucci, control that colleague of yours. If I hear another peep from you, I'll release Sugar and turn him into toys forever!"
Donquixote Doflamingo's subordinates, except for Baby-5, had all been arrested. The woman had escaped and was currently being hunted down, though no one knew where she was now.
The black-and-white pupil masked man lay on the ground, lifting his head to shout angrily, "Lucius Kro! I'll definitely file a complaint about you with the higher-ups!"
"Oh~ How scary!" Kuro curled his lips in complete disdain.
The Vinsmoke Family had so much power, yet they could only keep him contained at the Shabondy Archipelago for a while.
Demotion? Punishment?
If anything they said actually worked, he wouldn't still be a Vice Admiral, let alone a Vice Admiral who's still a candidate for full Admiral!
These people, they're completely useless!
Wasting my trust.
Whoosh!
At that moment, a wisp of white light flashed outside the tent.
Moer arrived with a tall, thin person in tow, calling out to the open tent, "Vice Admiral Kuro, I've brought the person."
As soon as he appeared, Kuro, Lida, Donquixote Doflamingo, and Lucci all turned their gazes toward the tall, thin man beside Moer.
Kuro narrowed his eyes slightly and smiled, "This is getting interesting."
