Chapter 668: An Incident
Chapter 668: An Incident
Jiang Xia returned home to find Zhou Mu, Aunt, and Grandma just finished feeding the triplets and were about to take them out to play.
The triplets waved their little limbs excitedly when they saw their parents, clearly wanting to be held.
Every morning, the first thing they saw when they woke up were their parents. But not today. The three of them had cried for a while, with tears still clinging to their eyelashes.
Jiang Xia’s clothes were dirty!
She smiled and said, “Mommy smells, I’ll hold you later.”
The triplets watched as Jiang Xia walked past them and went upstairs.
Their little mouths pouted in unison, and they started to cry in a staccato manner, as children do before a full-blown cry: “Ah, ah, ah...”
After a few sounds, they burst into tears!
They all turned their heads to look in the direction Jiang Xia had left.
Zhou Mu said to Jiang Xia, “No rush, we’ll take them out for a walk. Breakfast is in the pot, just warm it up and eat it.”
Jiang Xia replied, “Okay!”
At that moment, Zhao Chenglei also walked by. The triplets paused their crying, their eyes still wet with tears as they looked at their father.
Zhao Chenglei cooed to the triplets, “Daddy is dirty, I need to take a shower first, I’ll hold you later.”
Then he walked past.
The triplets started crying even louder!
Zhou Mu and Grandma quickly consoled them, “Mommy and Daddy are dirty and smelly, they need to take a shower! Let’s go out to play, go to the sea, see the fish, see the birds, okay? And the geese, the hens, and the ducks! We can pick eggs and duck eggs!”
Then the three of them took the triplets out.
Zhoubingqiang was also just stepping out with his granddaughter. Seeing the plump and fair-skinned triplets, he sighed, looking at his own skinny granddaughter: His granddaughter was plump and fair when she was born, much bigger than the triplets, but now she was so skinny and lacked the vitality of a child.
Children forget quickly. Once they saw something new outside, they were easily calmed.
After Zhou Mu and the others took the triplets out, they stopped crying soon.
On the way, they met villagers returning from the sea. Everyone stopped to admire the rosy, chubby triplets, making them laugh with delight.
Everyone couldn’t help but praise, “Oh, what beautiful little ones! So cute!”
“Capital City’s climate really suits them, look how well they’re growing!”
“Of course, it’s the capital, where the Dragon Qi was the strongest. Our three little ones will grow up to be outstanding!”
...
After praising the triplets, everyone started chatting with Zhou Mu about Dr. Ruan, “Is Dr. Ruan Asen’s girlfriend?”
Zhou Mu was taken aback, “No, that’s just rumors. Dr. Ruan is Xia’s friend!”
“I saw the way they look at each other, there might be something there! Asen is divorced, and Li Xiuxian has remarried and will have a child in a few months. I think Dr. Ruan is a good match, Asen should make a move!”
“True, having a doctor as a daughter-in-law would be great! No need to go to the hospital if you’re sick, and Asen is a leader, a perfect match for a doctor. You should encourage him!”
“Stop it, you guys! They’re not like that, and they’re not dating. I don’t interfere in my children’s affairs anymore! Everything happens for a reason, let it be!”
Despite her words, Zhou Mu started considering the possibility of Zhou Chengsen and Dr. Ruan.
Her son was divorced and had a child, which might make it difficult for the unmarried Dr. Ruan. She was worried that Dr. Ruan’s parents wouldn’t approve.
Let it be!
She wouldn’t get involved anymore.
The sound of a tractor approached, and everyone knew Zhou Chengsen had returned. The conversation stopped.
Zhou Mu and the others took the children to the beach to play.
Grandma said to Zhou Mu, “It’s better to find Asen a new wife. Once Yingying gets married, he’ll be alone, which isn’t good for him or the children. You shouldn’t set your standards too high; a divorced woman or a widow would be fine. Don’t mind if she has children, since he does too. A good person is what matters, better than being alone in old age.”
“I know, I don’t mind either! I’m not helping him look, and it’s not easy to find a match. It’s all up to fate. Let the young ones do what they want. Managing them won’t help, they’re grown-ups, more capable and knowledgeable than us. How can we control them?”
Grandma didn’t say anything more. She knew her grandchildren were grown and hard to manage, but she couldn’t help worrying about them.
Zhao Chenglei and Jiang Xia changed clothes and went downstairs to prepare breakfast.
Zhou Mu and Aunt had already cooked breakfast.
Dr. Ruan and the two nurses finished breakfast and were about to leave for the city.
Jiang Xia said, “There’s no bus to the city this early, the next one is at one. Why don’t you stay for lunch?”
Dr. Ruan replied, “No, we’ll go to Zhen Shang for a walk, and it’ll be perfect.”
Great-Grandma said to Zhou Chengsen, “Asen, you can drive them back.”
Zhou Chengsen usually would have agreed, but this time he hesitated.
He silently looked at Zhao Chenglei, signaling: You brought them, you deal with it.
Zhao Chenglei said, “Okay! Second Brother, you take them. I was planning to, but you can do it too.”
Zhou Chengsen glared at him.
Zhao Chenglei rubbed his brow, “I’ve been staying up late with the children lately, my eyesight is getting worse, I can’t see anything. I need a nap this afternoon.”
Zhou Chengsen: “...”
As it turned out, there was no need to argue who would drive Dr. Ruan.
Because Zhou Ying had an accident!
Li Xiuxian’s nephew rushed to the Zhou family on a bicycle, “Uncle, Yingying hit her head and is bleeding a lot. She’s unconscious. Auntie asked you to take her to the hospital.”
Zhou Chengsen’s face changed, and he hurried to get the car keys.
Dr. Ruan asked, “Where did she hit her head?”
Li Xiuxian’s nephew pointed to the back of his head, “I think it’s here. I didn’t see clearly, but she hit her head on a table.”
Dr. Ruan’s face turned pale, and she asked Jiang Xia, “Do you have a first-aid kit? Or some bandages and cotton balls to stop the bleeding? I’ll go help. We need to get her to the hospital.”
Jiang Xia replied, “Yes!”
Zhao Chenglei had already found the first-aid kit, “Let’s go! I’ll drive.”
He took the car keys from Zhou Chengsen, as he was the best driver.
Jiang Xia quickly went to Zhou Mu’s room and grabbed some new, clean diapers.
These were made of gauze, in case the first-aid kit’s gauze wasn’t enough.
The family hurriedly got into the car, leaving only Grandpa at home to watch the house.
As they drove, Zhao Chenglei casually asked, “Is Yingying at your house?”
Li Xiuxian’s nephew quickly replied, “No, she’s at the Liao family’s house.”
Zhou Chengsen was so angry his whole body trembled.
Was Li Xiuxian crazy, taking Zhou Ying to the Liao family’s house? What was she thinking?
Zhao Chenglei stepped on the gas, and the car sped off.
When the family arrived at the Liao family’s house, Jiang Xia heard Li Xiuxian arguing with a woman.
