Chapter 667: Pansha
Chapter 667 Pansha
Donquixote Doflamingo couldn't be released, but neither could he be allowed to die here.
Liku wasn't suitable to be king either. With his mindset combined with Yi Xiao's scheming, if the two worked together, the Seven Warlords of the Sea system would likely be abolished entirely.
The World Meeting was drawing closer every day.
Would he really wait until that day arrived to say, "Old Man disagrees"?
Kuro's original plan had been to select a new king. Now, with CP0's incompetence, he had no better options left—he could only revisit this approach.
Listening to Kuro's words, Lucci nodded. He extended his hand toward the three masked figures.
Soon, the tallest among them pulled out a stack of documents from his coat and handed them to Lucci.
"We already investigated this beforehand. The details are here", Lucci said, passing the documents to Kuro.
"You're still as reliable as ever", Kuro remarked, accepting the stack.
"Just need to work on your personality a bit. Being too extreme isn't good", he added casually.
Lucci believed in the "Justice of Darkness"—where there was light, there must be darkness. Since darkness could never be eliminated, one must embody darkness itself to protect the light.
He would always be the first to charge forward to handle dirty tasks.
Kuro guessed that Lucci had initially intended to eliminate all those who knew the truth.
Flipping through the documents, Kuro found detailed records on Dressrosa's nobility—large and small—listing family members, ages, past actions, and their connections.
After all, this was CP. Their intelligence gathering was formidable.
Dressrosa naturally had nobility. In this world, every nation had its nobility. They were all feudal capitalist kingdoms.
"Wood Family? Big nobility? A hot contender. This entire page is their dossier." Kuro held up a sheet, waving it. "It says here this family is wealthy, and the patriarch is quite kind-hearted."
The black-and-white-pupiled masked man rumbled gravely, "Indeed. The Wood Family is one of Dressrosa's major nobility clans. If selecting a king, they're a top contender."
"Kshhhkshhkshh."
A low chuckle echoed from the side.
Donquixote Doflamingo, who had been silent, finally spoke, "Wood Family? I wouldn't recommend them."
"Silence! Donquixote Doflamingo, you have no qualifications to speak!" The masked man snapped urgently.
"You're panicking? Why the rush?"
Kuro paused, glancing at Donquixote Doflamingo. "Any inside information?"
He hadn't fully trusted these documents, just treated them as reference material. While detailed, some entries—like the Wood Family—contained not a single negative note. That alone raised suspicions.
"Wood Family…" Donquixote Doflamingo's lips curled into a malevolent grin. "They're indeed one of Dressrosa's great nobilities. But how did they become so? CP0 didn't mention it? Couldn't dig it up? No worries—I'll tell you."
"Over a decade ago, they harbored pirates, sheltering them while receiving stolen wealth in return. That's how they rose to prominence. Once they became big nobility, they executed their pirate partners."
"Is that so?" Kuro raised a brow.
"Stop this nonsense!" The masked man retorted sharply. "Golden Lion! At the very least, the Wood Family has done much good in recent years. Their prestige in Dressrosa is extremely high. If they became king, they could stabilize the nation and surrounding regions most quickly!"
He continued, "The World Government ordered you to choose a king—stability is the priority, isn't it? They've made deals with us. Choosing them means getting the most obedient ruler!"
"That's technically true", Kuro agreed, letting the document slip from his hands to the floor, his foot pressing down on it. "But I already said—the decision rests with Old Man. Don't try commanding me around. Understand your position."
"You!"
The masked man's teeth gritted audibly as the document beneath Kuro's boot became dirty. "I'll report this, Lucius Kro! You're defying the World Government's command!"
"No one specified who must be king. The decision is mine. Keep arguing, and I'll toss you out."
Kuro shot him a glare before continuing, "What about the Megg Family?" He turned to the next noble profile, which showed a family that adopted orphans and did charitable work.
"Pirates!" Donquixote Doflamingo laughed. "Those orphans? They're raised to be sold or used as disposable assets for expansion!"
"Next."
Kuro discarded another page. "Bolaidengsha Family?"
"Oh, they're decent. You could make them king." Donquixote Doflamingo grinned.
Kuro glanced at Lucci.
"Entire family of good-for-nothings. Only interested in pleasure and utterly obedient to Donquixote Doflamingo", Lucci shook his head.
"Next."
Kuro continued flipping. "Tresi Family?"
The group exchanged glances. "We think they'd work."
Donquixote Doflamingo chuckled. "Agreed."
"Next."
Kuro tossed the paper aside without asking.
With CP0 and Donquixote Doflamingo opposing each other, such candidates were invalid. Those both sides agreed on were even less suitable.
Sigh. You have candidates, but I just won't pick them. I'm just playing.
One by one, he dismissed the major and mid-tier nobilities. As the stack neared its end, he paused at the final page—a list of minor or even impoverished nobilities, included only as references.
"Pansha?" He murmured the name.
At that word, Donquixote Doflamingo's expression shifted instantly.
"Absolutely not!"
Both Donquixote Doflamingo and the black-and-white-pupiled masked man shouted in unison.
"Both of you disagree?" Kuro glanced at them, then at Lucci.
"Pansha family? They're a fallen nobility, if I recall", Lucci mused. "Also, a bit of an eccentric."
"Kuro! Pansha is unsuitable to be king!" Donquixote Doflamingo growled darkly. "Anyone but them!"
"Indeed. Unfit, Kuro. If needed, we can choose again. There must be better options. Pansha is entirely inappropriate!" The masked man urged rapidly.
"Is that so?" Kuro's lips curled into a meaningful smile. "Then we must meet this one. Since both of you oppose them, this person must be... intriguingly significant."
