Chapter 663: Kidnapping the Thunder Dragon Turtle
Chapter 663: Kidnapping the Thunder Dragon Turtle
"It would be a shame to leave behind a fifth-grade exotic beast like the Thunder Dragon Turtle," Lu Chen murmured to himself as he observed the young unicorn beast hiding in the shadows.
"It's not just about the light spheres, but also because it has a pitiful background, and I want to take care of it properly."
The spiritual beasts raised in his cave mansion had not shown any new changes after entering the Li Yang realm, and now that he had come across such an opportunity, Lu Chen was determined to seize it.
Although spiritual beasts of the same grade took much longer to mature compared to spiritual plants, based on Lu Chen's experience, the light sphere rewards they yielded were slightly higher. A fifth-grade exotic beast like the Thunder Dragon Turtle would likely provide a substantial reward if it were to fully mature.
With these thoughts in mind, he slowly approached the unicorn beast, focusing his spiritual senses on it.
Detailed information about the beast immediately appeared in Lu Chen's mind.
Thunder Dragon Turtle, a fifth-grade exotic beast born from the crossbreeding of a Thunder Turtle and a Wind Thunder Serpent. During its growth, it gradually masters powerful thunder techniques and develops a robust physical body with immense strength.
Due to complications that led to its mother's death during birth, and its noticeable differences in appearance from regular Thunder Turtles, it is shunned by its own kind. As a result, it has become reclusive and yearns for acceptance.
"Why am I so different? I just want to play with everyone else..."
"A Thunder Dragon Turtle yearning for acceptance… Its origins seem rather intriguing, and it might be the reason behind the mother Thunder Turtle's difficult birth," Lu Chen sighed softly, feeling even more sympathetic towards the young beast.
Having lost both its parents at a young age, with its mother's death closely tied to its own birth, the Thunder Dragon Turtle was also rejected by its tribe and struggled to fit in due to its unusual appearance.
"How pitiful. I must take it back to my cave mansion and show it warmth and love," Lu Chen decided.
He slowly approached the young beast, which transformed into a beam of white light and darted over a dozen meters away, hiding in the shadows once more to observe Lu Chen.
Undeterred, Lu Chen continued to draw closer, and the beast repeatedly dodged his advances. Finally, after some hesitation, the young beast quietly lay down on the ground, its eyes curiously fixed on Lu Chen, a subtle hint of yearning lurking in its gaze.
"How did you like the taste of those spiritual fruits and brews from earlier?" Lu Chen asked gently.
The young beast nodded its small head lightly, then emphasized its response by nodding more vigorously, worried that Lu Chen hadn't noticed.
"Here's some more. They're all for you," Lu Chen said, looking at the Thunder Dragon Turtle's frail-looking form, which gave no indication of its exceptional physical prowess.
He took out more spiritual fruits and brews from his storage bag and offered them to the young beast.
The Thunder Dragon Turtle swallowed hard, unable to resist the temptation of the spiritual fruits, and devoured them in one go.
After being fed, its attitude noticeably improved, and it no longer tried to avoid Lu Chen's proximity.
Lu Chen respectfully maintained a distance of half a zhang as he gently asked, "Would you be willing to show me where you live?"
The Thunder Dragon Turtle blinked its eyes and eventually nodded in agreement.
The two, man and beast, walked through the wandering tadpole-like thunderballs and reached a secluded corner of the Thunder Turtle territory.
Following the young beast, Lu Chen entered through a narrow crevice in the stones.
The beast's nest was not small, but it looked rather crude and simple. Near the inner stone wall, there was a small mound of dirt, and when Lu Chen swept his spiritual sense over it, he discovered the remains of a silver-white beast's skeleton buried within.
"This must be the remains of the Thunder Dragon Turtle's mother, who died during its birth," Lu Chen realized, his expression turning solemn as he bowed in the direction of the burial mound.
Seeing this gesture, a softer light entered the young beast's eyes.
As their conversation progressed, a bond formed between the man and the beast. The Thunder Dragon Turtle even lay down next to Lu Chen, exposing its soft, silver-white belly.
"Are you unhappy living here?" Lu Chen asked pointedly.
The young beast shook its head instinctively, then slowly nodded.
"Would you like to live somewhere else?" Lu Chen inquired, his voice carrying a subtle hint of persuasion as he manipulated the Mirage Sound Pearl in his throat.
"Come to my cave mansion!" he continued. "There, no one will stare at you strangely. You'll have lots of interesting spirit beast friends to play with, and an endless supply of delicious spirit fruits and brews, even better than the ones you just tasted."
"If you ever miss your mother, we can come back and visit whenever you like," Lu Chen added.
Upon hearing this, the Thunder Dragon Turtle froze, deep in thought.
"Rest assured, I am trustworthy. Otherwise, your ancestor, the ancient blue-horned thunder bull, wouldn't have allowed me to do as I pleased," Lu Chen assured the young beast. "I will keep my promises, and I'll come back to check on the Thunder Dragon Turtles from time to time."
The Thunder Dragon Turtle's small features scrunched together, revealing its inner turmoil.
"Once you're with me, you'll be my closest companion and friend to all the spirit beasts in my cave mansion," Lu Chen said simply, awaiting the young beast's decision.
Having understood the Thunder Dragon Turtle's emotional needs, Lu Chen was confident that he could convince it to join him in his cave mansion.
As expected, after some hesitation, the Thunder Dragon Turtle nodded in agreement.
"Hahaha, welcome, welcome! From now on, you're one of us!" Lu Chen laughed heartily, reaching down to ruffle the small horn on the beast's head.
A strand of silver-white thunder light shot out and entered Lu Chen's palm, causing a tingling sensation.
"Roar~" The Thunder Dragon Turtle let out a low growl, a hint of concern in its voice.
Through their mental link, Lu Chen learned that this display of thunder light was an involuntary reaction to something unusual approaching, beyond the young beast's control.
"It's alright, it's alright," Lu Chen soothed. The thunder light was nothing more than an itch to him at his current level. Ignoring the continuous bursts of thunder light, he gently rubbed the small horn, unbothered by the beast's involuntary reaction.
After leaving the Thunder Dragon Turtle's nest, Lu Chen led the young beast to the two-winged Thunder Bull.
"Fellow Daoist, this exotic Thunder Dragon Turtle has agreed to leave with me. Please inform the ancient blue-horned thunder bull," Lu Chen said respectfully.
Although the Thunder Dragon Turtle had little blood relation to the ancient thunder bull, it was still its descendant, and Lu Chen needed its permission to take the young beast away.
"Fellow Daoist Lu, feel free to take it with you. The ancient one will be happy to know that the young one has found a good home," the two-winged Thunder Bull said earnestly, glancing at the massive blue-horned thunder bull sleeping in the distance, its snores echoing like thunder. "If we were to inform it now, we might disturb its rest, and that would displease it."
"Then I shall take my leave with the young beast. I will bring it back to visit from time to time so that the ancient blue-horned thunder bull can see its well-being," Lu Chen said, bowing politely before turning to leave the Thunder Bull territory with the Thunder Dragon Turtle in tow.
