Chapter 66: The Weasley Twins
Chapter 66: The Weasley Twins
"The Room of Requirement is truly amazing!"
Shutting the door to the Room of Requirement, Jerry watched as the smooth iron door gradually vanished, and the white wall returned to its original state. He couldn't help but let out a heartfelt exclamation.
He felt that the Room of Requirement was like a magical room that had been enchanted with a Super Transformation Charm, Legilimency, and an Extension Charm. It could read the thoughts of those who entered and transform to provide whatever they needed, extending into various different rooms.
Perhaps one of the four great wizards who founded the school had secretly created it.
However, who created the Room of Requirement was not important. What mattered was that he now had access to it, giving him a dedicated place to study and practice Dark Magic.
After so much time spent learning magic, Jerry had come to understand that becoming a powerful wizard was not an easy feat. Even with the "Brain Booster" advantage, he still needed to put in a lot of effort and hard work to achieve anything.
Of course, if he only wanted to be like an average young wizard, studying for seven years and graduating with excellent grades would be a very simple matter.
But that would make his strength comparable to that of some aurors in the Ministry of Magic.
That was definitely not what he wanted.
What he desired was to have at least the same power as Dumbledore and Voldemort by the time he graduated in his seventh year.
He aimed to reach the peak of two once-in-a-millennium magical geniuses in just seven years. Without some serious hard work, how could he possibly achieve that?
It was now just past midnight.
The entire Hogwarts castle was completely silent. Even the wizard teaching the trolls to dance and the trolls chasing after him on the giant tapestry across the white wall were fast asleep in the grass.
However, not everyone was asleep. For example, a certain pair of mischievous Gryffindor twins.
"Good evening!"
"Good evening!"
Just as Jerry reached the Eighth Floor staircase, he awkwardly ran into the Weasley brothers, who had just emerged from the Gryffindor common room.
Hogwarts rules strictly prohibited young wizards from leaving their dormitories after curfew. If caught, they would lose house points and be put in detention.
Now, this first-year Slytherin, Jerry, had just run into two Gryffindor upperclassmen at the Eighth Floor staircase after midnight.
"Didn't you say no one was on the Eighth Floor?"
Fred whispered to George, who shrugged helplessly.
"The Marauder's Map showed Mrs. Norris on the sixth floor and Filch on the second floor, but it didn't show this Slytherin first-year!"
What they didn't know was that Jerry had just been in the Room of Requirement, and the Marauder's Map couldn't detect anyone inside it. That's why George hadn't seen Jerry on the map.
"Are the two of you just unable to sleep and decided to take a walk?"
Jerry thought for a moment. Since everyone was breaking the rules, it wasn't really a problem.
"Ah, yes, yes, you're the Slytherin first-year Jerry, right? You too?"
Fred clearly had the same thought as Jerry and immediately relaxed.
"Like you two, I couldn’t sleep and came out for a walk, but now I need to head back!"
Jerry replied with a smile.
Fred and George had learned a bit about Jerry, this first-year Slytherin, from their younger brother Ron. Seeing Jerry’s friendly attitude, they didn’t show their usual disdain for Slytherins.
"Then let’s go together!"
"Sure!"
After a brief exchange, Jerry joined the two brothers and they walked down the Magic Stairs together.
"Meow~?"
As they reached the seventh floor, a familiar cat appeared, blocking their path. It was Mrs. Norris, who had just finished her patrol on the sixth floor and had moved to the seventh.
"Well, well, it’s you again, and with two more accomplices. I’ve already had two fish, so I’m not going to be bribed this time. I’ll go tell my master and have you all caught!"
Mrs. Norris glanced at Jerry and immediately turned to head for the second floor to find Filch.
"Oh no, she’s going to get Filch. Quick, let’s retreat!"
The Weasley brothers, clearly experienced, were about to head back to the Gryffindor common room to find another opportunity to wander later.
"Don’t worry, I’ve got a plan!"
While the Weasley brothers could retreat to the Gryffindor common room, Jerry, a Slytherin, couldn’t join them there. Fortunately, he was well-prepared. He calmly pulled out a glass bottle he had prepared earlier, grabbed a handful of green powder, and scattered it in front of Mrs. Norris.
Just as she was about to leave, Mrs. Norris seemed to catch a scent. Her body stiffened, and she suddenly turned around, dashing toward the green powder on the ground and began to lick it rapidly.
"What is this? Meow! I feel so high!"
Freddy and George watched in disbelief as they saw a side of Mrs. Norris they had never seen before. After licking the green powder, she started shaking her head and moving her body as if she were dancing, then began rolling on the ground, her expression gradually turning wild.
Finally, she lay down, completely relaxed and weak, her eyes becoming vacant.
"What did you give her? Is she going to be okay? If Mrs. Norris gets hurt, Filch will kill us!"
Fred and George, curious and tense, looked at the glass bottle in Jerry’s hand, as if they had discovered a new world.
"It’s a special herbal powder that cats love. It’s harmless. She’ll be fine after a while. Let’s go!"
Jerry didn’t elaborate further. He stepped over Mrs. Norris and continued down the stairs.
The green powder in his bottle was actually catnip, a common substance in the Muggle world, used by cat owners. He had specifically prepared it for Mrs. Norris.
He knew he would often need to practice magic in the Room of Requirement at night, and in his Superman Mode, Filch, a Squib, was no threat. Jerry could hear his footsteps from a distance.
However, unlike Filch, Mrs. Norris, being a cat, had soft pads on her paws that muffled her steps, making her nearly silent. Even with his heightened senses, he might not detect her in time.
To deal with Mrs. Norris, he had taken the time to buy a can of catnip powder from a pet store in the Main World. He hadn’t expected it to come in handy so soon.
