Chapter 66: The Invitation Class
Chapter 66: The Invitation Class
After giving Chen Chuan some guidance, Cheng Zitong continued, "You're practicing the Zhouyuan Combat Technique, which, compared to other techniques, doesn't have a specialized focus. It lacks a distinct expression, so with my limited knowledge, I'd say you need to strengthen your foundation."
"Besides training, there's also the matter of medication. In the past, the medicinal ingredients that could achieve such effects were extremely rare and hard to find. Fortunately, that's not a problem today; the only difference is the price. I'll prepare them for you when I get back."
He took out a card from his briefcase and slid it towards Chen Chuan.
"The rewards for your two commissioned tasks have been processed. I've opened an account for you, and the money is already deposited. You can withdraw it whenever you need it. If the medication requires more funds, I'll deduct it from this account. I'll let you know if it's insufficient."
Chen Chuan took the card and thanked him.
Cheng Zitong reminded him, "Although you've mastered the technique, remember to use it sparingly. Each use puts a certain amount of strain on your body. While medication can repair it, there's no need to do this unless it's an emergency."
With his Second Self, Chen Chuan wasn't too concerned about the strain caused by the technique. However, he still assured Cheng Zitong that he'd keep it in mind.
Cheng Zitong then became slightly more serious, "Apart from this, your altered tissue is constrained, but we need to observe it for a few more days to see if the growth rate slows down. This is crucial, and we should know within the next few days."
"I'll pay attention too, and inform you promptly if there are any changes," Chen Chuan said.
Cheng Zitong replied, "There's no need to be so tense. Even if it continues to grow, it will definitely go through a slow period. At this stage, you don't need to be as tense as before."
After saying this, Cheng Zitong relaxed a bit. "Now that you've mastered the technique, I can also breathe a sigh of relief..." He smiled, "It's been more than two months since you enrolled, and you haven't attended any public or invitation classes, right? It's best to attend one or two before the mid-term exams, even if it's just to get by. Otherwise, your name won't appear on any course records, which, although not a big issue, might prompt someone to talk."
"Then I'll go to one within these few days," Chen Chuan said.
Cheng Zitong, having conveyed all he needed to, left satisfied.
After he left, Chen Chuan took out his alarm clock and carefully sensed the progress of time. The successful mastery of the Zhouyuan Combat Technique indeed accelerated the growth of his Second Self.
It increased by over seven minutes compared to before! If he added the previous sporadic increments, the total now exceeded a quarter of an hour.
After mastering the technique, Chen Chuan continued to strengthen himself while also participating in more combat scenarios to gain more Overlap Time.
He thought for a moment and walked out of the dormitory. When he returned, he had two invitation letters for invitation classes in his hand.
Previously, with time being tight, he had no time to waste on anything other than necessary commissions and rest. Now that he had mastered the Zhouyuan Combat Technique, and with Cheng Zitong's reminder, it was time to attend an invitation class.
Invitation classes were open to both Class A and Class B students, depending on the instructor's preference. However, most Class A students would receive an invitation. These invitations were usually sent out a day in advance.
The two invitations in Chen Chuan's hand included one for the next day's class and another for that afternoon. He took a look and saw that one was from a teacher named Xu Wei in the Grappling Department. Since it was available, he decided to attend this class.
As he flipped through the invitation, he noticed a small line of text inside, which made him raise his eyebrows.
Originally planning to have lunch with Luo Kaiyuan and Feng Xiaoqi, Chen Chuan found that both of them were not around. Assuming they were training with their instructors, he ate lunch alone. After a quick wash, he headed towards the designated training hall for the invitation class.
As he walked through the Wu Yi Academy campus, it was the first time he felt so relaxed. He took in the scenery around him.
The maple trees on both sides had mostly turned red, creating a beautiful blend of golden and crimson hues. Leaves gently fell, enhancing the autumn atmosphere.
After walking for about fifteen minutes, he arrived at the designated hall, which was a semi-circular training ground with a raised platform at the front.
He had arrived early and chose a seat in the middle, near the aisle, as there were still about twenty minutes until the class started.
Soon, students started trickling in, most of them female trainees from the Combat and Grappling Departments.
A girl with a white training uniform and a short haircut tied with a headband entered, drawing whispers from the crowd.
"Look, isn't that Guan Xinyin?"
"Yes, Guan Laoshi's daughter. She's a Class A student and is said to be highly skilled and beautiful."
Today was Xu Wei's class, otherwise, a Class A student like her wouldn't be here without the guidance of a teacher."
"What's wrong with being a Class A student? Look over there, that tall male student sitting alone, isn't he also a Class A student?"
"Oh, right. He's one too."
Chen Chuan's senses became sharper after the training session, and now with his acquired combat technique, he was even more perceptive. He realized the conversation was about him, but he didn't seem to mind.
Soon enough, he felt a gaze upon him. He immediately turned to see a pair of distinct black and white eyes staring back at him. It was Guan Xinyin looking his way, so he politely nodded at her.
Guan Xinyin politely nodded back, a greeting exchanged between two Class A students.
As more students trickled in, the time approached the start of class. A young teacher in his thirties with thick fingers and a sharp gaze, as if piercing through people with needles, walked in.
This must be Teacher Xu Wei. He scanned the room with his eyes, pausing briefly when he reached Chen Chuan before quickly moving on. He introduced himself and then began the lecture.
The class mainly focused on how to combine hard grappling with free fighting. Teacher Xu Wei used concise language, making his explanations easy to understand.
However, theoretical knowledge was often dry and hard to grasp in one go, so he called a few students to the stage to demonstrate. The process went smoothly, and the class progressed quickly.
"Hard grappling is most often combined with free fighting. Usually, you strike first and then grapple. But when it comes to twisting techniques, combining grappling with wrestling is more effective in arena combat. Today, we've invited a wrestling student, Qiu Xin, to assist me. He's also a graduate of our Wu Yi Academy, and he'll be my special assistant today."
As Teacher Xu Wei led the applause, the students below lightly clapped along. Soon, a robust man in his twenties, with broad shoulders and legs as sturdy as pillars, silently walked in from the side. His footsteps made no sound on the floor, as if a highly resilient ball was floating on the surface.
Qiu Xin bowed to everyone and then spoke, "I'm honored to assist Teacher Xu Wei's class. I'm not a teacher, and I'm not good at speeches, so to provide a clear demonstration, I'd like to invite a student to come up and assist me."

"I'll do it." A crisp voice sounded, and Guan Xinyin stood up. "I'll assist Assistant Qiu."
Qiu Xin glanced at her a few times, shaking his head. His gaze seemed to fall on Chen Chuan, and he said, "This student, can you come up and assist us?"
Chen Chuan looked at him and said, "I can." He stood up from his seat and walked to the stage, all eyes on him.
Guan Xinyin looked at him and then sat back down.
Chen Chuan arrived in front of Qiu Xin and asked, "Assistant Qiu, how should I assist you?"
Qiu Xin said, "It's just a simple demonstration. A regular student might not be able to protect themselves, but I believe this student won't have any issues."
"In that case," Chen Chuan thought for a moment. "I also have some questions about wrestling that I'd like to ask Assistant Qiu."
Qiu Xin readily agreed, "Of course, that's fine too."
After their exchange, Xu Wei stepped back, giving the stage to the two students. The other students below watched with interest, especially the freshmen who hadn't witnessed the true strength of a Class A student before.
Qiu Xin stepped forward, placing his hand on Chen Chuan's shoulder. "Don't move, this is fine. I want to demonstrate a spinning ground slam. Chen, be careful to protect yourself."
Chen Chuan remained calm and still.
After Qiu Xin's words, his eyes suddenly sharpened. His hand tightened, and a surge of power abruptly penetrated Chen Chuan's body. With one hand on Chen Chuan's shoulder, he spun behind Chen Chuan, lifting him with the other hand, and then—slam!
The stage shook slightly, and the students below were startled, many of them exclaiming in surprise. Guan Xinyin's eyebrows furrowed.
Qiu Xin seemed to pause, looking somewhat concerned. He took a few steps forward towards Teacher Xu Wei and said, "Teacher Xu, I might have used too much force. Please call for medical assistance quickly."
But Teacher Xu Wei's expression was peculiar, and he stood there silently.
Qiu Xin looked around, seemingly realizing something, and took a step back.
Just then, behind him, Chen Chuan's figure stood up. He adjusted his sleeve and said calmly, "Assistant Qiu, it seems you didn't use enough strength."
