Chapter 654: Lanchi's Romance Plan for Loren
Chapter 654: Lanchi's Romance Plan for Loren
On an afternoon in summer, as the day's work came to a close, Lanchi and Thalia exited the old liberal arts building of the Magecraft Institute, making their way to the garden at the entrance of the institute. The black cat, always opportunistic, emerged from the shadows once more and perched comfortably on Lanchi's shoulder.
Bidding Professor Pola farewell, they had a brief shopping trip planned before heading home.
Even though summer days were long, the sun's golden rays had begun to take on an orange hue, signaling the approaching sunset. Perhaps in an hour or two, it would start its descent, casting long shadows in the late afternoon light.
No matter how long the shadows stretched, Thalia's silhouette only reached his shoulders.
She glanced up, her eyes meeting his face above her.
Looking at that cunning, arrogant, and annoying face.
Compared to when they first met over a year ago, he seemed even more detestable now, and yet here she was, day after day, by his side.
Suddenly, as if sensing something, a purple magic card appeared in her hand.
Her abrupt pause caused Lanchi and the cat to stop as well.
"Wait a moment, I have a call from a friend."
With that, Thalia ran off and took a seat on a distant bench.
"Miss Zhu Zhu, no, you're not disturbing me at all."
"..."
In the distance...
Lanchi watched as Thalia leaned against the bench.
Although he couldn't hear what was being said, he could catch snippets of Thalia's voice as she chatted with her friend.
It was rare to see her so cheerful while talking to a friend.
He slowly made his way to a large tree in the Magecraft Institute's garden and sat down, deciding to let Thalia enjoy her conversation in peace. He didn't want to keep her waiting too long by standing on the path.
However, before he could give Thalia his full attention, the cat on his shoulder handed him a glowing communication magic card.
"Meow, Lanchi, you have a call as well."
The little black cat delivered the message.
Currently, Lanchi had no free card slots on him; every available space was dedicated to nurturing Thalia, and any other magic cards that could be unbound were kept with the cat.
Lanchi glanced at the communication magic card and saw that it was Loren calling.
He immediately answered the call.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Romance Instructor. I was wondering if I could ask for some advice... I'm having dinner with Julianna again tonight, and I wanted to know if there's anything I should keep in mind?"
Purple light flickered on the magic card, accompanying Loren's words.
"According to my analysis, you'll need to take her out for at least three meals in one evening to truly make her happy. So, the key is to listen for her hints and spend more time with her. Do you have ample time today?"
Lanchi thought for a moment, lowering his voice as he placed the communication magic card in front of him and asked, "The last time we met, Loren and Julianna planned to have dinner together again, and now it's happening."
"Oh, I just finished up at the temple and said goodbye to Almis. I'm planning to head home and watch a horror movie with Florence tonight." Loren's reply came through on the communication magic card.
The cat on Lanchi's shoulder listened with its ears perked up.
Loren, are you truly aiming to be a master of time management?
From Loren's perspective, if he considered the Ice Snow Witch Almis a colleague, the Holy Knight Florence a brother, and Julianna a friend with potential for more, there seemed to be no issues at all.
But to the cat, it felt like Loren was orchestrating a nuclear fusion of relationships!
"Please hold on a moment.
Lanchi covered the communication magic card and walked back into the old liberal arts building. He made his way to a lounge area in the student services center.
The towering ceiling and pillars of the old building created a spacious interior, with dark wooden furniture and textured stone walls interwoven throughout.
Lanchi sat down with the little black cat in his arms in the discussion area located on one side of the grand hall. This area was furnished with multiple sofa sets and low coffee tables, and the soft lighting from a few lamps by the carpet added a touch of quiet elegance to the space.
"Alright, let's continue our chat."
Lanchi's calm and professional tone filled the air.
"Instructor, is it inconvenient for you to speak now?"
Loren on the other end of the communication sounded slightly apologetic.
"Indeed, it might be a little inconvenient these days. An elder from my family has arrived, and they may overhear me at any time."
Lanchi admitted as he took out a small notepad from his pocket and uncapped the pen attached to it.
"So, I may not be able to guide you in real-time, but for now, it's fine. From what I can tell, there aren't any major issues with your current situation. Just go with the flow for the time being, and be confident. Have you noticed anything unusual with Almis or Florence recently?"
As he spoke, he jotted down key information, much like a doctor taking notes during a consultation.
"Almis seems to have gone through my things, although she didn't leave any traces. But I could sense her magic. However, it might be because of work-related matters. She's been helping me with the temple's affairs, so it's normal for her to look for certain documents from time to time. But why would she go through my wardrobe...?"
Loren trailed off, slightly uncertain.
"What kind of person do you think the Ice Snow Witch Almis is?"
Without waiting for Loren's hesitant reply, Lanchi asked first.
"If I had to describe her, she would be like the moonlight. When I felt like I couldn't hold on any longer, she was the only one willing to silently help me and take on all the church's affairs. So now, no matter how cold she is to me, I believe she is a good person."
Loren's voice gradually deepened, unable to hide his gratitude towards the Ice Snow Witch.
"..."
Lanchi remained silent for a moment.
"Just pretend you don't know. Sometimes, you can even leave some loopholes for her to exploit. Even if she's caught red-handed, don't expose her. Instead, help her smooth things over. Your absolute tolerance will be the best way to repay her."
Lanchi analyzed and provided his answer.
To him, while the witch's path seemed a bit devious, it was invaluable that the Ice Snow Witch stood by Loren's side during his most difficult times, helping him through it all. This bond forged in adversity and her unwavering loyalty were things Lanchi cherished.
Since the witch seemed quite interested in Loren, Lanchi knew he had no choice but to weave this thread of romance.
The cat boss looked up and glared at Lanchi.
Ever since they returned to the Southern Continent, it felt like Lanchi's approach to matchmaking had become more reasonable, moving away from his previous 'welding' methods. However, the bad news was that he had now started 'weaving'!
"What do you mean?"
Loren was confused, "But if I do this, what if one day she finds out that I knew she was going through my things and that I even played along with her? Won't she feel like I'm deliberately toying with her?"
Loren was worried that the Ice Snow Witch would feel extremely embarrassed if that happened.
"Don't worry, that's what we call chivalry and gentleness. When she discovers your tolerance, all her guilt will turn into goodwill."
Lanchi explained.
