Chapter 653: The Final Conflict
Chapter 653: The Final Conflict
Soul Society.
In the five years since Feng Ye left, peace reigned. Most Shinigami remained unaware of the events that transpired on that fateful day five years ago, an incident that shook the very foundations of Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the human world. All they knew was that nothing out of the ordinary had occurred since, and their superiors did not order a stringent investigation into the matter.
Captains and vice-captains of higher ranks had their suspicions and made their judgments, but only a handful of people, including Aizen, Retsu Unohana, and Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, as well as the members of the zero squad, truly understood the truth behind what happened.
There was only one certainty among them.
Feng Ye, the Hollow King, had left Soul Society!
While Feng Ye's presence was imperceptible, the tremors that shook the three realms and the entity that pierced through the human world and soared into the starry sky could only be attributed to him. No other being possessed such awe-inspiring power.
Feng Ye's departure put the Fourth Division Captain, Yoruichi Shihoin, Kisuke Urahara, and others on high alert. They keenly realized that with Feng Ye gone, Aizen would no longer hold back as he had before. A storm of chaos was likely on the horizon.
Despite the peaceful years that followed, each passing year only added to the heaviness in the hearts of Kisuke Urahara, Shinji Hirako, and their allies.
Aizen had always been meticulous in his schemes, and in the eyes of most, including Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, he was a gentle and benevolent captain, similar to Jushiro Ukitake, and was well-loved by many Shinigami.
When such an Aizen embarked on his plans, the results would be nothing short of thunderous!
And so, in the sixth year, the final straw that ignited the long-brewing conflict came in the form of Kisuke Urahara and Isshin Kurosaki's actions.
...
Karakura Town.
The rain fell softly.
Isshin Kurosaki walked along the streets with an umbrella, eventually arriving at the door of the Urahara Shop. He stepped under the eaves and closed his umbrella.
Entering the shop, he found Tessai Tsukabishi waiting for him. Tessai nodded and gestured for him to follow, leading him into a spacious back room with only a small table. On the table sat a small wooden box, and beside it, Kisuke Urahara sat quietly. He greeted Isshin as he entered.
"Why did you call me here suddenly? Has something happened?" Isshin asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took a seat across from Kisuke.
Kisuke rarely sought him out, so Isshin knew that something important must be afoot, something that might involve Aizen.
"Nothing has happened, but I have a favor to ask of you," Kisuke said, his expression solemn.
He lifted his hand and gently opened the wooden box on the table. Inside was a diamond-like, angular small sphere, and within it, a deep-hued pearl seemed to pulse with power.
"This is..." Isshin's eyes narrowed further as he recognized the object.
"It's something I inadvertently created during my research," Kisuke explained, his voice grave. "It possesses the power to shatter the boundaries between Shinigami and Hollows. I call it the 'Dangai Prism'."
Isshin frowned slightly. "So, you did indeed research Hollowfication before Aizen?"
"Yes," Kisuke nodded. "But my intention was purely research, not to use it for any particular purpose. However, after creating it, I realized how dangerous it was and that it couldn't be destroyed, so I had no choice but to seal it away."
Hearing this, Isshin frowned and asked, "Why are you telling me this?"
Kisuke replied in a low voice, "Aizen has always had his eyes on it, and he could try to seize it at any moment. Wherever it is kept is the most dangerous place. Now that I've confirmed that it can't restore Captain Hirako and the others to normal, keeping it with me is extremely risky."
"Therefore, I want to ask you for a favor... to deliver it to the Soul Society!"
Hearing Kisuke's words, Isshin's expression changed slightly.
But before Isshin could say anything, Kisuke continued, "I've already made arrangements with the Soul Society. Captain Yoruichi is waiting with the Gotei 13. Once you deliver it, she will immediately take it back to the Royal Palace and hand it over to Princess Lilynette for safekeeping. There's no way for Aizen to get his hands on it after that."
Isshin furrowed his brows and asked, "Why do you want me to be the one to deliver it?"
Kisuke explained, "Because, aside from you, I and Captain Hirako are all under Aizen's surveillance. But you only regained your powers a month ago, and it's likely that Aizen is unaware of this. So if you're the one to deliver it, Aizen won't know about it."
"I see."
Isshin nodded, took a breath, reached out toward the wooden box, and looked at Kisuke. "In that case, I'll take responsibility for it."
There was no way he could refuse any matter concerning Aizen, as it was Aizen who had brought him to this state. He had to return what Aizen had given him.
"Wait."
Kisuke was one step ahead as he extended his hand, placing it on the wooden box, and said, "I need to add another layer of seal. Don't rush."
"Alright."
Isshin nodded and withdrew his hand.
Kisuke then placed his hand on the box, closed his eyes, and began to murmur. Finally, he opened his eyes, and a large amount of spirit energy converged into patterns, intertwining on the surface of the box.
The box was eventually bound by these spirit energy-infused characters and transformed into a wooden ball the size of a fist, which Kisuke held in his hand.
"Then I'll leave it to you."
Kisuke handed the wooden ball to Isshin.
Isshin grunted and took the ball, standing up. "Leave it to me."
"I suggest you make the delivery tonight," Kisuke said as he threw a small wooden plaque to Isshin. "You can forcibly open a passage to the Soul Society with this. Although it's much more dangerous than using the Senkaimon, you've regained your full power, and I believe you can do it."
"Using a forced breakthrough to cross the Precipice World? That's indeed a risky method. But compared to facing Aizen, this should be safer," Isshin said as he took the plaque and turned to leave.
Only Kisuke was left sitting there, his eyes fixed on Isshin's departing figure. After a long while, he stood up.
Tomorrow would be the final chapter of the Bleach series.
