Chapter 652: The Elder
Chapter 652: The Elder
"Dale!"
"It's an Awakener! A Phase Five!"
In the blink of an eye, the companions who had just launched a joint attack and were about to retreat together witnessed their comrades' deaths right before their eyes.
The gruesome scene was enough to horrify anyone.
But the warriors in the labyrinth had already tempered their minds, and they reacted swiftly, each leaping into the surrounding darkness and quickly dispersing.
Swish—
On the wall adorned with human corpses, the pale finger bones that had just pierced the labyrinth wall turned slightly.
Then, the power of essence flowed through the bones.
Boom—
An explosion occurred instantly.
White bone powder filled the air, and the more aggressive corrupting venom quickly spread.
From the labyrinth breach to the wall crack, a deathly white path opened up, and the remaining few insects quickly fell.
"Roar—"
The Deviators continued to surge forward.
Without consciousness and under control, their momentum remained undiminished, like movie zombies relentlessly moving forward.
But this time, there was an additional figure among the Deviators.
Unlike the lower-phase Deviators with obvious physical distortions, green-tinged skin, and swollen lumps all over their bodies, this was a man wearing a linen robe with a calm expression.
Even upon careful observation,
There was no sign of flesh mutation on his body, as if he were a normal living person, except for his left arm hanging limply at his side in an unnatural manner.
As if the bones within had been completely removed.
"That's the guy!"
"He's different from the other Deviators. We can't fight him, let's retreat!"
"..."
The human warriors naturally recognized the man's exceptional nature.
Their long combat experience led them to make the right decision; they immediately abandoned their observation and continued to retreat into the dark labyrinth, putting distance between themselves and their opponent.
"..."
"Oh? These arrows..."
The man with a calm expression entered.
He looked at the corpses at his feet, pulled out the arrows, and immediately recognized the poison on the arrowheads, his calm expression turning solemn:
"Poison, capable of suppressing the power of corruption."
"But without the essence power trait, it's just a pure drug effect?"
As he spoke, the man's soft right arm straightened, and the sound of bones rapidly growing could be faintly heard:
"Using the pure drug effect to suppress the power of corruption."
"The Awakened ones nowadays are truly formidable."
He heard the sigh.
Among the Deviators behind, another human figure with a calm demeanor emerged:
"The times are always moving forward."
"Unless, like in our time, we fight until the world collapses and the legacy is severed, people will only grow stronger."
In the midst of these two 'normal humans', more Deviators poured into the labyrinth, but they halted their advance and stopped moving forward.
The second Deviator to appear spoke:
"Our strength has only recovered to Phase 5. The talent behind this scene is not someone we can easily deal with."
The Deviator standing at the labyrinth breach took a few steps forward.
Ignoring the regenerating labyrinth walls around him, he approached the warrior he had just killed with his finger bones.
Swish—
His slender fingers poked into the corpse's head.
Accompanied by the sound of 'puchi puchi' sucking, in just a few seconds, the warrior's head was empty, and the eye sockets on the corpse also sank.
The Deviator obtained the warrior's memories through his brain:
"City construction, unique city architecture—is this the city built by the craftsmen?
"No, their Lord's skills aren't like that. They manifest in far more diverse ways."
The Deviator behind him stepped forward, "I'm still here, be more specific."
The first one retracted his finger and straightened his body to explain, "I discovered a brand-new skill, unheard of before."
"This city was created by his abilities, but he's currently not within the city."
The Deviator behind him laughed, "That's great news; otherwise, it would be tough to deal with."
The front Deviator made a judgment, "In any case, let those who just advanced to Phase Five handle it. One person's memory isn't enough for me to grasp the full picture. Right now, Lord Phil is heading to the City of Law, and we who stay behind must act cautiously."
The Deviator behind him shook his head, "You're talking as if this ruined world has a chance of being restored."
The first one rebutted, "The powerful life force in the East is still growing."
"Put aside the Elder's arrogance; in this era, we are the apprentices."
"..."
On the other side, the news of the special Deviator's appearance also quickly reached deep within the labyrinth.
The Legion Commanders, fully geared up, were at the labyrinth entrance.
They received the news from their tense subordinates, glancing at each other as a subtle atmosphere spread.
As the commander of the Fourth Legion, Redstone spoke up, "As expected, it's the kind of Deviator that Lord Lindsay mentioned, resurrected from the ancient era. Their true strength might not be limited to Phase Five; they just haven't recovered yet."
Naray, the Elemental Manipulator beside him, also spoke up, "Can we handle this enemy with our old methods?"
Redstone smiled bitterly and shook his head, "That depends on your courage."
Having fought underground for a long time, the people had a simmering anger within them.
After Redstone and Naray's words, the Legion Commanders' hearts filled with rage, and they began to respond, "Then, let's fight them like before!"
"We'll use the labyrinth to split their forces, create a situation of outnumbering them, and then we'll gather and take action!"
"We've done this countless times; there's no way we'll fail!"
Just then, Vivian spoke up, "Killing the enemy is, of course, our ultimate goal. But we can't afford to be careless. We must take the most foolproof approach!"
After the life-and-death chase in the mine, Redstone had a special trust in this young girl.
He immediately continued, following Vivian's words, "Since that's the case, you must have a specific plan, right?"
The girl nodded affirmatively, "In the early stages, it's the same as before. We'll use the labyrinth to split their forces and annihilate them in batches. But for the final assault, we must prolong the time."
One of the Legion Commanders spoke up, "The prolonged battle has already exhausted the soldiers. We've been holding out for several months, and our condition isn't ideal. Now, you want to extend the combat time further..."
Vivian turned to the Legion Commander who spoke.
She spoke with a mature and serious tone, "Those ancient Deviators must possess abilities that ordinary Phase Five Awakened don't have. One mistake, and we might face total annihilation."
"To maximize the protection of everyone's lives."
"We must prolong the battle time, wear them down with the swarm, and leave the fight against the Elites for last!"
