Chapter 651: What Did You Say You Did to Him?
Chapter 651: What Did You Say You Did to Him?
Feeling the double-edged sword pressed against his head, Montague felt as if he had been doused with a bucket of cold water, a chilling sensation that spread from the top of his head to the soles of his feet.
This jolted him awake and also reminded him of Kyle's past achievements and his near-top-of-the-school performance.
Montague felt as if he had done something stupid, that is, to cause trouble for Kyle.
He might have a chance against him in a fistfight, but when it came to magic, ten of him combined wouldn't be a match for Kyle.
But he couldn't understand why Kyle dared to use magic here, right at Professor Umbridge's office door. Wasn't he afraid of being punished?
Not to mention that it was such a dangerous spell.
Just as Montague was dazed, a wave of excited screams broke the silence in the corridor.
"Hey, this feels so awesome!"
The armored head bobbed on the neck, shouting excitedly, "Let's do it again! Come on, let's do it again!"
"Of course, no problem."
Kyle tapped his wand, and the armor slowly raised its arm again.
The others finally came to their senses as well.
"Ah!" Millicent's scream echoed through the corridor, alerting Umbridge, who was still in the office.
"What are you doing?" She opened the door. "Keep it quiet!"
"Professor!" Montague grabbed onto a straw, shouting in horror, "It's Kyle... he's trying to kill me."
"Nonsense, Kyle wouldn't do such a thing!"
"It's true!" Montague gestured frantically at the armor in front of him. "Look, this is what he did."
Umbridge looked at the armor holding the double-edged sword, frowning.
Although she never thought Kyle would kill Montague at Hogwarts, the sight before her was indeed a bit too scary.
"I need an explanation."
"Sorry, Professor," Kyle said with a smile. "Mr. Montague seems to question your decision and is unwilling to follow my command, so I thought it necessary to demonstrate my abilities to him."
"Question my decision?" Umbridge looked at Montague seriously. "So, is this true?"
"I... I didn't..." Montague shook his head repeatedly.
But Umbridge still saw the guilt in his eyes.
"Don't go too far," she glanced at Kyle. "I don't want to see anyone sent to the hospital wing."
"Rest assured, Professor, I know my limits," Kyle said, directing the armor back to its original position while also putting away his wand.
This pleased Umbridge, and she nodded, returning to the office.
"That's it?" Montague was stunned.
Casting spells in the corridor, damaging the castle walls, and almost killing someone, yet there was no punishment at all?
Even when Professor Snape was defending them, he would still give them a verbal reprimand.
The office door slammed shut with a bang, and the corridor once again returned to its previous silence.
Perhaps feeling that it was unfair, or perhaps because he had lost face, Montague, in a fit of anger and embarrassment, subconsciously drew his wand, wanting to cast a nasty curse on Kyle.
But just as he was about to chant the spell, a scene suddenly appeared in his mind, from last year's Triwizard Tournament when Kyle had used a Flame Spell to pierce through half of the maze.
The courage Montague had just mustered instantly dissipated. When Kyle turned around, he instinctively turned and ran.
"This is... Feint and Flank?" Kyle blinked... He had just been about to use the Disarmament Charm, but it seemed unnecessary in this situation.
"Stop!"
Before Kyle could speak, the armor protested loudly, "Stop, you little brat, come back here!"
The armor's shout only made Montague run faster.
"This coward..." The armor cursed angrily, then turned its head towards Millicent beside it. "How about someone else? I think chopping her up would be fine too.
Upon hearing this, Millicent stared at the twin swords in Graham's hands, their cold gleam almost sending her into a faint.
But Kyle didn't even spare her a glance. After Montague left, he, too, headed towards the stairs without a second thought.
If it were any other matter, Kyle wouldn't bother arguing with Montague. He wanted to showcase his skills, and by doing so, he could also avoid trouble and later shift the blame onto Montague if they failed to find anyone. A win-win situation.
But this time, it was different.
Although the Room of Requirement was secure, there was still a chance others might discover it, especially now that DA's membership had grown to over seventy. No one could guarantee that all of them were genuinely interested in learning magic.
If there was a snitch among them, it would be problematic if they were found out. Therefore, Kyle couldn't leave everything to the Slytherin students.
The simplest way to deal with Slytherin was to demonstrate his strength and make them aware of the gap between them.
After the recent incident, Kyle believed they wouldn't dare pull any more stunts.
---
However, it was still necessary to inform Cedric about this to prevent Umbridge from finding other unknown individuals.
After leaving the corridor, Kyle quickly made his way towards the Hufflepuff Common Room.
"What a letdown, so boring!" The armor let out a discontented grumble, and Peeves popped out from inside, cursing as he ran off. In a fit of rage, he threw water balloons everywhere.
At the same time, on the other side of the corridor, Malfoy watched as Montague ran downstairs without looking back, and suddenly, he burst out laughing. A nameless feeling of satisfaction washed over him.
He felt as if he had just enjoyed a warm mug of butterbeer on a cold, snowy day, an indescribable comfort.
"Terrifying... That Kyle, he..." Crabbe patted his chest, still shaken as he spoke, "Draco, did you suspect something like this would happen, which is why you didn't say anything?"
"What?"
"I mean, Kyle would directly attack us, and Professor Umbridge wouldn't punish him," Crabbe explained.
Malfoy turned, cleared his throat, and said earnestly, "Yes, I suspected as much."
"And Slytherin respects strength. I believe Professor Umbridge chose Kyle to lead us because of his abilities. If he's strong enough, I don't mind that he's from another house."
"Too bad Montague is such an idiot." Malfoy muttered, looking in the direction Montague had left, "I wonder why you provoked him."
He then recalled Montague's arrogant demeanor after becoming the Quidditch captain, which further improved his mood.
Although they were on the same team and shared the same house, their relationship wasn't amicable.
When they lost the match, Montague had scolded him in front of everyone, claiming that Slytherin's loss was entirely due to his poor flying skills.
He even said that he was far inferior to Potter.
This was too much for Malfoy to bear. Others could criticize his flying, but they couldn't say he was worse than Potter.
If it weren't for the fact that he was still in the hospital wing with Madam Pomfrey nearby, he might have fought with Montague then and there.
But now... Recalling Montague's embarrassed state, Malfoy's annoyance vanished.
"Let's go," Malfoy waved his hand, his mood significantly improved, "Yesterday, my father brought me some sweets. Help yourself."
"Really, Draco..."
"Great!"
Upon hearing about the sweets, Crabbe and Goyle immediately forgot about Montague and Pansy, who had gone to comfort Millicent, and eagerly followed Malfoy.
