Chapter 650: Jin Ban Hua: Every Word I Say is True!
Chapter 650: Jin Ban Hua: Every Word I Say is True!
The newcomers were, of course, Hu Tiehua and Ji Bingyan.
Seeing that Chu Liuxiang had not returned for a long time, Hu Tiehua, being the most impetuous, charged into the oasis without hesitation.
And seeing Hu Tiehua's audacity, the Kucha warriors, who had previously experienced the assassination attempt by the traitor's hired experts from the Central Plains, mistook him for another assassin.
Thus, a grand clash commenced between the two sides.
Although the Kucha warriors were assassins, Hu Tiehua showed mercy and merely sent them flying with his strikes. Afterward, he loudly called out for Chu Liuxiang.
Unable to stop Hu Tiehua, Ji Bingyan could only follow him inside, but he did not join the fight. Instead, he remained vigilant, ready to assist if needed.
Then, Chu Liuxiang appeared.
With the exception of Ji Bingyan's stone camel, which remained outside to tend to the camels, Hu Tiehua and Ji Bingyan entered the grand tent of the Kucha king, where they were invited to take a seat.
"Chu Liuxiang, your name shakes the Central Plains. It is an honor to meet you and your formidable friends. I, the King, am truly humbled by your presence."
Having already learned of Chu Liuxiang's identity from Situ Liu Xing, the Kucha King was overjoyed and personally offered a toast, "Your presence here truly illuminates my humble abode."
Hu Tiehua took the wine cup without hesitation and drained it in one gulp, laughing heartily, "Although you misused the idiom, I shall let it slide since you meant it as a compliment."
The Kucha King asked, "May I inquire as to the names of these two mighty heroes?"
Before Hu Tiehua could answer, Ji Bingyan asked, "How do you know Chu Liuxiang?"
The Kucha King pointed to Jin Ban Hua, "Jin Gongzi and Chu Da Xia are friends. Chu Da Xia arrived here together with Jin Gongzi."
Ji Bingyan and Hu Tiehua turned their gazes to Jin Ban Hua.
Jin Ban Hua nodded proudly, "Although Chu Liuxiang stole my White Jade Beauty in the capital, the crime does not warrant death. Seeing his disheveled appearance, I took pity on him and, in a moment of kindness, brought him along to enjoy some food and drinks."
Ji Bingyan and Hu Tiehua looked at Chu Liuxiang simultaneously.
Chu Liuxiang still needed to gather information about Heizhenzhu and Su Rongrong from Jin Ban Hua, so he dared not offend him. Thus, he quickly nodded, "Thank you, Brother Jin, for your hospitality, and thank you, Your Majesty, for your gracious invitation."
Hu Tiehua exclaimed, "I didn't expect you to be such a good person. I shall drink to your health as well!"
And with that, he downed another cup of wine.
Ji Bingyan shot Hu Tiehua a sideways glance and turned to Jin Ban Hua, "You don't hate him for stealing your White Jade Beauty?"
"Of course, I do!" Jin Ban Hua nodded, turning to Chu Liuxiang, "That's why I must insist that you return the White Jade Beauty to me. Su Rongrong personally promised me that she would ask you to retrieve it from the South and bring it back to me."
Chu Liuxiang's eyes lit up, "When did she say that?"
"Right after you handed her over to me!" Jin Ban Hua stroked his chin, his face filled with joy, "She also said that I'm straightforward and kind, with a sense of justice. I must say, she's quite the silver-tongued charmer."
Chu Liuxiang's smile froze, and his heart twisted with a bitter feeling, "Did she really say that?"
"When have I ever lied?" Jin Ban Hua patted his chest, making a promise, "Every word I say is true, I assure you!"
Hearing Jin Ban Hua's words, Du Huan's expression contorted, and the faces of those beside him looked strange, as if they wanted to say something but held back.
However, the usually perceptive Chu Liuxiang was feeling perturbed and his smile turned sour. He hoped that Jin Ban Hua was being truthful as a spoiled young master, but he also hoped that what he had just said was a lie.
He couldn't understand why Su Rongrong would speak so highly of Jin Ban Hua, praising him and even promising to have him retrieve the White Jade Beauty, which had long been sold.
However, Ji Bingyan's eyes flickered with hesitation as he fell into deep thought.
Upon hearing this, Hu Tiehua laughed and said, "I know Su Rongrong, and if she truly praised you like that, then you're my friend, too. If Chu Liuxiang can't find your White Jade Beauty, I'll help him look for it!"
Jin Ban Hua applauded and exclaimed, "Your character is bold and righteous, worthy of a toast!"
And with that, Hu Tiehua happily drank another cup of wine.
Watching Hu Tiehua drink cup after cup of wine, oblivious to the tension, Du Huan's heart burned with jealousy.
Even now, he couldn't understand how he had managed to hit himself the day before. Fearing Jin Ban Hua, he dared not cause any more trouble and instead decided to take his frustration out on Hu Tiehua.
"Bold and righteous? I'd say rude and reckless is more like it," Du Huan scoffed. "A drunken fool who knows nothing but guzzling wine—it's a wonder you're still alive."
Hu Tiehua set down his wine cup and glared at Du Huan. "And who are you to say that?"
"Am I wrong?" Du Huan retorted with a cold smile. "Charging in recklessly, not knowing your place, doing nothing but drinking, and not even knowing where the White Jade Beauty is—what makes you think you can find it?"
"Whether I can find it or not is none of your business," Hu Tiehua retorted.
Du Huan rose to his feet and glared at Hu Tiehua. "I don't care about you, but don't act foolish in front of me!"
The atmosphere in the tent turned cold once more.
Everyone looked at Du Huan, then at Hu Tiehua, and finally, their gazes rested on Jin Ban Hua.
Ji Bingyan, observing Du Huan's hands, whispered to Chu Liuxiang, "I've heard that this 'Merciless Killer' Du Huan is not only vicious in his martial arts but also cunning and treacherous. You'd better keep an eye on Hu Tiehua."
Chu Liuxiang waved off the concern. "It's fine. This drunkard may have spent his recent years soaking in wine, but his martial arts skills haven't diminished."
Du Huan stepped away from the short table, his hands hidden in his sleeves, his gaze fixed coldly on Hu Tiehua.
Hu Tiehua, however, smiled at Du Huan. "Right now, I'd rather drink than fight, but if you want to fight, I'll oblige!"
Du Huan nodded. "If you don't want to fight, then get out of this tent."
Hu Tiehua laughed. "And if I don't want to leave?"
"Then I'll throw you out!" Du Huan shouted, his hands shooting out. Each of his ten fingers was adorned with a black iron ring, gleaming with a dark luster. His hands weaved intricate patterns as he aimed for Hu Tiehua's chest.
Having suffered a loss at Jin Ban Hua's hands the day before, Du Huan was cautious and focused, putting all his effort into this attack.
And with his full effort, coupled with the poison on his hands, Du Huan was not an opponent to be taken lightly. At the very least, Hu Tiehua wouldn't be able to break his right hand with a single move as he had in the original story.
But Hu Tiehua was no ordinary man. While he excelled in powerful and aggressive martial arts, it didn't mean he lacked finesse.
In fact, he was renowned for his self-created style, the "Butterfly Weaves Through Flowers 72 Forms."
And so, Du Huan's luck had run out.
He had expected Hu Tiehua to use the aggressive style he had witnessed outside against the Kucha guards, which would have played into his strengths. But instead, his opponent switched to a completely different set of techniques.
More importantly, Hu Tiehua's skill was clearly superior.
Within just a dozen moves, Hu Tiehua effortlessly deflected Du Huan's hands and, in a swift change of form, punched him in the chest.
"Puh!"
Du Huan spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed.
