Chapter 65: One Man Surrounding a Group
Chapter 65: One Man Surrounding a Group
For a full five minutes, the bald strongman waited before leading his group of five to approach Rain.
"Boss, this kid thinks he can outrun our 'baby,' what a fool! Now he's caught, hahaha!"
"Yeah, boss, this kid dared to run. Should we break his legs first?" One of the gang members waved the thick wooden club in his hand, grinning menacingly.
"Kid, you think you're so fast? Why aren't you running now?"
At this moment, the bald man glanced at Rain with disdain and said, "Brat, why are you running from us?"
"Also, is that house yours?"
"Talk, where's Blackbeard?"
The bald man's rapid-fire questions instantly confirmed all of Rain's suspicions.
Indeed, they were members of the Jackal Gang.
"Are you from the Jackal Gang?" Rain asked.
"Hey! Kid, how do you know? Has the Jackal Gang's reputation spread from the County City to Glintstone Town?" One of the gang members asked, his face lighting up.
However, after hearing Rain's question, the bald man felt something was amiss.
Although the boy in front of him looked terrified, his eyes were too calm, not like genuine fear! Just as he was about to say something, Rain, with his head lowered, spoke,
"Since you're from the Jackal Gang, I'm sorry!"
The next second, Rain's hands trembled, and the dual-bladed sword wrapped in leather revealed its true form.
"And I want to emphasize, I'm not surrounded by you."
"It's you who are surrounded by me!"
At this, several members of the Jackal Gang realized something was wrong.
"How do you have a weapon?"
"You're violating the Imperial Law of Public Order!"
One gang member looked down at the wooden club in his hand, then at Rain's dual-bladed sword, thinking, "Damn, this kid seems even more brazen than us!"
"Hua!"
In response, Rain unleashed a whirlwind slash with the force of a galloping thunder.
Rain took a step forward, flashing into the midst of the spotted jackals closest to him. His steel longsword drew a graceful semicircle in an instant.
In an instant, blood and limbs flew! Two of the five jackals were beheaded by Rain in a flash!
Two others had their front limbs chopped off, writhing on the ground.
These vicious dogs had been barking at Rain for half a day, but now, finally, there was some peace.
"Whimper~" The remaining jackal, terrified, tucked its tail and fled to the bald man's side.
The previous scene had the gang members' eyelids twitching uncontrollably!
"Don't panic! We have five people, what's there to fear?" The bald strongman steeled his heart, leading the charge towards Rain.
Hearing the bald man's words, the gang members, with their well-developed bodies and simple minds, quickly reacted.
Their expressions seemed to say, "Yeah, we have five people, and he's just one!"
They immediately followed the bald man, charging towards Rain.
Rain chuckled, thinking that if they split up and ran, he might have a hard time chasing them.
But he never expected them to dare counterattack, perhaps because he still looked like a young boy?
This left him momentarily speechless, unsure what to say.
"Don't panic! I'll inform the gang!" The bald man reacted swiftly, pushing another gang member and shouting.
He had seen it; the seemingly unremarkable youth before him was clearly hiding his strength, luring them into a trap.
These few men were probably going to meet their end here!
The bald man reacted quickly, but Rain's reaction was even faster.
Just as a member of the Jackal Gang turned to flee, a figure caught up from behind.
"Swish!"
Blood splattered, and the man's leg below the knee was instantly severed, adding one more to the total number of fallen.
The next second, the bald strongman also couldn't escape the same fate.
This time, including the bald strongman, all the members of the Jackal Gang were lying on the ground! And Rain didn't let go of the jackal that had escaped earlier, slashing together.
Suddenly, the once-proud Jackal Gang was now completely subdued.
Rain walked around the scene, and apart from the two captives he had kept alive, he delivered a finishing blow to those who were still barely alive.
This scene immediately terrified the bald duo, who cried out, "Don't kill us! Don't kill us!"
"Shut up! The next one who speaks out of turn will be killed!" Rain's icy gaze silenced the two captives, who dared not utter a word, their faces filled with fear as they watched Rain, afraid of incurring his wrath.
In fact, up until now, the two still couldn't understand how they had encountered this bad luck when the Jackal Gang was looking for Blackbeard.
Rain kept two captives alive but injured, intending to interrogate them separately about the 'Dog King' Cole.
He separated the bald man and another gang member by over twenty meters. Since the bald man's legs were both severed, Rain wasn't worried about him escaping.
Rain began his interrogation with the gang member.
"Speak up! What did your boss, Cole, instruct you to do?" Rain patted the face of the legless gang member with the hilt of his greatsword.
"Keep your voice down, don't let the bald man hear. I'll compare your stories!"
The legless gang member, already trembling with fear, nodded repeatedly and said, "Don't kill me, I'll talk! Boss Cole sent us to investigate his brother, Blackbeard, who went missing a couple of days ago."
"We asked around about Blackbeard in the county town. A courtesan, an old friend of his, told us that before Blackbeard left, he mentioned going to Glintstone Town to get some goods."
"So, we came here."
Rain nodded and gestured with his sword, "Continue!"
"The Jackal's sense of smell is exceptional. They can track down Blackbeard's whereabouts in Glintstone Town by following his scent on his old clothes."
Rain nodded, understanding now.
Indeed, these jackals had large noses and a much stronger sense of smell than ordinary dogs. Obviously, they had picked up on the scent of Blackbeard that lingered in Anna's house a few days ago.
That's why they had tracked him down!
"What about the strength of your boss, 'Cole'? And that mutated jackal, the so-called 'Jackal Queen'?" Rain continued his questioning.
"'Cole' Boss..."
"..."
Rain asked the same questions of the bald strongman and the other leader.
As the gang leader, the bald man had more comprehensive information.
After cross-referencing their answers, Rain sent them to join the other gang members.
After all, they were part of the same gang and should be kept together.
This included their jackals as well, of course.
