Chapter 649: Leaks and Umbridge's New Decision
Chapter 649: Leaks and Umbridge's New Decision
After Kyle left the Forbidden Forest, he turned back for a glance.
Hagrid, still persistent, continued his futile search through the denser bushes.
Kyle shook his head and continued towards the castle.
Conna had been waiting at the castle entrance and immediately ran over when she saw him.
"Where have you been?" she whispered. "I think I saw Mr. Malfoy in the Forbidden Forest just now during the break."
"Actually, I was looking for him."
"But why would he come to Hogwarts?" Conna asked, puzzled. "Is it because of Fred and George?"
"That's part of the reason," Kyle said. "I was thinking that today, they could play again...if Umbridge doesn't come up with other excuses."
"That's great!" Conna said happily, but soon she seemed to think of something.
"Wait, you said it's part of the reason. Does he have other matters to discuss with you?"
"To be precise, I have something I'd like to ask him for help with," Kyle said, looking around to ensure they were alone before lowering his voice. "I want to try to get Umbridge out of the school."
"Mr. Malfoy can make Umbridge leave?" Conna was somewhat skeptical.
Although the Malfoy family was wealthy, they didn't hold any official position in the Ministry of Magic. Could they really decide Umbridge's fate? Even if it was possible with Galleons, Malfoy wouldn't help, surely.
"Well," Kyle paused for a moment, then explained, "After seeing Hagrid, I suddenly thought of an idea that might be useful. It just so happens that Lucius Malfoy is here too. If he's willing to help, it might increase the chances of success."
"But will he help us?" Conna asked. "If I remember correctly, the Malfoys are inclined towards Fudge. After all, they've spent quite a few Galleons over the years to get on his good side."
"Let's just give it a shot," Kyle said calmly. "And if he's unwilling to help, it's fine. We can always think of another plan later if needed."
The two walked side by side into the castle and headed to the Great Hall for lunch.
In the Great Hall, everyone was discussing a different matter.
Professor Sybill Trelawney from Divination had been given In-School Detention...Umbridge's decision, made that very morning.
Professor Trelawney had been drinking heavily, and she kept complaining even during class.
"This is terrible," Kyle and Conna sat down at their table, just as Cedric arrived.
"I heard that besides Professor Trelawney, Professor Burbage from Muggle Studies also received a warning," Cedric said. "But she didn't drink, and she didn't make a big fuss about it either."
"How did you find out?" Kyle asked curiously. "I remember you didn't choose Muggle Studies."
"It was Angelina," Cedric shook his head. "She ran into Umbridge in the corridor and wanted to ask about Fred and George. Just then, she saw Professor Burbage receiving a parchment from Professor Burbage."
"She said Professor Burbage's face looked terrible, almost as if she was about to cry...I can't think of any other parchment that would make a professor so scared, except for an In-School Detention notice."
Kyle looked up towards the staff table. That day, neither Professor Trelawney nor Professor Burbage had come for lunch, but Umbridge was there, happily cutting her steak.
However, all the other professors seemed unhappy, even Professor Flitwick, who usually enjoyed chatting, remained silent. The entire staff table was unusually somber.
Clearly, no one believed this matter would end here...
Kyle understood that Professor Trelawney and Professor Burbage were just the beginning, Umbridge's first move to assert her power.
Unable to help it, these two professors are the "softest targets" at Hogwarts, without background, their courses are not valued, and their skills are average... It's only right to assert their authority.
Next, she will most likely turn her attention to other courses, and the professors will find it difficult to resist, as Umbridge represents the Ministry of Magic, and opposing her is akin to opposing the entire Ministry.
Of course, she wouldn't dare go too far, such as directly dismissing Professor McGonagall or Professor Flitwick...
After all, unlike Professor Trelawney, these professors are truly competent, each with honors, and their students can be found in every corner of the British magical community.
If Umbridge dares to dismiss them on false charges, it will likely cause a huge uproar in the magical community the next day, and even Fudge won't be able to protect her then.
Dismissal is out of the question, but causing some distractions, like interfering with teaching, is still possible.
There is a solution, and the simplest one is for the professors to proactively lower their standards and become as strict as Professor Snape.
With a Forgetfulness Charm every day, Umbridge is guaranteed not to find any trouble.
However, achieving this is not easy either. Professor McGonagall is unlikely to agree to such nonsense, and without her consent, this matter cannot proceed.
Kyle increasingly felt that his idea was correct, and Hagrid and Lucius' arrival was very timely.
The matter of the Ministry of Magic couldn't be delayed any longer. If Umbridge were allowed to stay at the school, every subject would be affected.
After hastily finishing his lunch, Kyle stood up and prepared to find Hagrid to discuss some matters.
This work is organized and uploaded by Liujin Book Bar~~
But before he could even leave the Great Hall, Umbridge approached him first.
"Come with me," she said in a sickly sweet tone.
Kyle had no choice but to temporarily abandon his plan to find Hagrid and followed Umbridge to the Defense Against the Dark Arts Office.
When Kyle entered the office, he realized that he wasn't the only one there that day.
Montague from Slytherin, Pansy, Millicent, Crabbe, and Goyle were also present... Oh, and Malfoy, who had just been discharged from the hospital.
However, upon seeing Kyle enter, Malfoy subconsciously took two steps back and his face turned even paler.
"Draco, what's wrong?" Pansy asked with concern.
"No, nothing..." Malfoy shook his head.
"It must be that his body hasn't fully recovered yet," Montague glanced at him and said loudly, "The suspension punishment is too light. Violent maniacs like the Weasley brothers and Potter should be expelled."
Malfoy's body trembled, and he instinctively looked at Kyle.
However, Kyle acted as if he hadn't heard Montague's words and showed no reaction.
"Oh, they no longer need to be suspended," Umbridge said as she walked in. "By tomorrow, their punishment will be changed to detention."
"How can this be?" Montague shouted. "This is unfair!"
"So, do you have any objections to my decision, Mr. Montague?" Umbridge asked with a smirk.
Montague's expression froze, "Of course not, Professor Umbridge, everything will be done as you say."
"That's good," Umbridge said with a smile.
"Alright, forget about the Weasleys, I have a more important matter that I need you to handle."
She continued, "I've heard that someone in the school has organized a group to teach various dangerous magics.
"It's too dangerous to have such an evil person hiding in the school. Go and find these people now, along with their gathering location. It shouldn't be a problem."
