Chapter 648: Master is Truly a Kind and Great Wizard!
Chapter 648: Master is Truly a Kind and Great Wizard!
Ivan, of course, understood Dobby's meaning and reached over to the bedside table to grab a small box, which he then handed to the house-elf.
"Here! I got you a gift too!"
Dobby was over the moon with joy, opening the box as quickly as he could. Inside, a single white glove lay all alone.
"I only gave you one glove last time, so this time I’m making it a pair!" Ivan explained, then asked, "How about it? Do you like it?"
"It’s absolutely wonderful! Master is truly a kind and great wizard!" Dobby nodded vigorously, letting out an excited scream. His body trembled with excitement, and he sniffled, nearly moved to tears.
Dobby had never expected Ivan to remember that he only had a glove for his left hand and had gone out of his way to get a matching one for his right.
"You should try it on to see if it fits!" Ivan quickly interjected, not wanting to hear any more of Dobby’s overly enthusiastic praise, which made his skin crawl. He didn’t want to feel like he had done something incredibly grand.
Dobby eagerly slipped the glove onto his empty right hand, holding the empty box tightly to his chest as if it were a treasure.
Ivan chuckled and shook his head, then shifted his gaze to the table by the bedside. It was piled high with over a hundred packages, some of which had even fallen to the floor.
"When did so many people start sending me things?" Ivan was surprised. He suspected it might be from the people in Knockturn Alley, but then he thought better of it. They wouldn’t have the nerve to send him gifts.
However, Ivan didn’t immediately start sorting through them. Instead, he took out a parchment and quill to write a letter to Luna, telling her not to rush to the Forbidden Forest to look for the Zongxian Tree and the Crumple-Horned Snorkack.
Hogwarts wasn’t exactly peaceful these days, so it was best to wait a while and go together.
He chose to send a letter rather than go in person because, on his way back to the dormitory, he had checked the Marauder’s Map and saw that Luna was still in the Ravenclaw common room. He wasn’t sure when she would come out, so writing a letter was more convenient.
After finishing the letter, Ivan opened the owl cage and tied the envelope to Maca’s leg.
"Deliver this to Luna, understand?" Ivan instructed.
Maca nodded, having done this many times before. It knew the way well and immediately flapped its wings and flew out the window.
Only then did Ivan turn his attention to the Christmas packages, carefully opening and examining each one. Most of the gifts were small, ornate items, likely from his admirers.
In addition to these, he found a new sweater from Mrs. Weasley, a Christmas tree model from Harry, dragon scales from Charlie, and a few bags of Exploding Snap from the Weasley twins—apparently, they could now shoot out in the shape of hearts.
Finally, there was a book—The Tales of Beedle the Bard!
Ivan picked it up, surprised. Upon seeing the cover illustration, he realized something was off. It was clearly new, and when he flipped through a few pages, he noticed that the handwriting was all Luna’s.
It dawned on him that Luna must have made this book herself—she had meticulously copied all the content from The Tales of Beedle the Bard, created a matching cover, and even drawn corresponding illustrations.
Ivan felt a wave of emotion. He knew why Luna had given him this gift.
A few days ago, while practicing Legilimency, he had seen this storybook in Luna’s memories. He had shown some interest, but he knew very little about the stories inside. Luna must have noticed this and spent time preparing this gift for him.
Although it didn't help him much, it was a thoughtful and collectible picture book.
"Strange, where is Hermione's gift?" After putting down the storybook, Ivan looked around at the unpacked gifts on the table, realizing only Hermione's gift was missing.
The young witch had asked him about his Christmas gift earlier; there was no way she could have forgotten. The only possibility was that Hermione planned to give it to him at the Christmas Ball.
Ivan couldn't help but smile, feeling a bit excited. He was eager to see how beautiful Hermione would look in her dazzling dress robe, dazzling everyone in the original time and space. He couldn't wait to see her.
However, there was still some time before the dance began, so Ivan sat on the edge of his bed, waiting for time to pass, listening to Harry, Seamus, and the others chat.
Ron, on the other hand, stood awkwardly in the corner, fidgeting with his clothes. It couldn't even be called a dress robe; it looked more like a very dowdy dress, with pink lace on the edges. He used a Severing Charm to cut off the extra parts, but it only made it look worse.
Perhaps realizing he had to wear this embarrassing robe to the dance, Ron eventually gave up after fidgeting for a while. He sat down on a chair, glancing at Harry and Seamus chatting, then turned his gaze to the table by Ivan's bed.
Noticing Ron staring for a while, Ivan followed his gaze and saw a small package stuck in the gap of the long table, probably pushed in by the other gifts, so he hadn't noticed it before.
Ivan walked over and picked up the package, opening it to find a large bag of candies, all the ones he usually enjoyed. However, there was no name, no note, and no card.
This couldn't be from Hermione, as young witches never sent such common gifts.
"Ron, did you send this to me?" Ivan turned and asked curiously.
"Ah, yes!" Ron's expression looked stiff; he seemed embarrassed to admit it, but he eventually nodded.
"The gift is great, thanks!" Ivan said casually. He knew Ron wasn't well-off, so he didn't mind the value of the gift.
"Oh, I think I forgot to prepare your Christmas gift this year!" Ivan suddenly slapped his forehead.
Due to the previous misunderstanding, Ivan had been worried that Ron wouldn't accept a gift, fearing an awkward situation, so he hadn't prepared one for him.
But seeing Ron in that "dress robe", Ivan had an idea. "But I think it's not too late to prepare one now, right?"
"No, no need to go to the trouble..." Ron awkwardly shook his head, trying to refuse, but before he could finish speaking, Ivan had already walked over and pointed his wand at Ron's robe.
In the next moment, Ron felt his "dress" rapidly changing. The garish brown turned into a deep emerald green, the top widened, and the bottom narrowed, fitting snugly to his body, transforming into a proper dress robe.
