Chapter 648: Lanchi and Talia's School Plan
Chapter 648: Lanchi and Talia's School Plan
The tranquil afternoon sun quietly filtered through the gaps in the curtains on the second floor of Boss Cat's restaurant, casting faint silhouettes on the beige floor by the windows.
"What? School?"
Talia, who was writing at the cabinet, turned around, having seemingly heard something. She looked at Lanchi, who was seated in the room.
"The Great Lover Poet is now a student at the Magic Engineering Institute, and not just any student. She's a special student of Professor Borao, the dean of the institute. It's been years since he last took on a student."
Lanchi suddenly felt ill at ease.
He knew that from now on, he'd better be honest with Talia.
After all, there was hardly anything he and the Great Lover Poet could hide from each other before their separation.
"Anyway, you'll have to go to the Magic Engineering Institute with me tomorrow to register for the official itinerary of the Bosen Kingdom trip. Why don't we take the opportunity to meet Professor Borao and ask him some questions about modern magical engineering? You read human magical engineering books, don't you? We'll only need to put up an act for a few days before we depart for the Bosen Kingdom."
Lanchi added, feeling a tingling sensation on his scalp.
"That's true," Talia agreed after a slight hesitation, nodding her head.
Being cooped up in Lanchi's dorm room all day would actually make her feel more uncomfortable.
She preferred to take a walk every day.
For now, it was a good thing that the Great Lover Poet had her own independent identity and could move freely within the Academy.
"Is Lanfu's social life complicated at the Academy?" Talia asked.
"Not at all," Lanchi shook his head. "She mainly knows me and Professor Borao at school, and doesn't interact much with Hyperian due to the different faculties. There may be some contracts with the Music Office of the Magic Engineering Institute, but Professor Borao has already informed the office about our trip to the Bosen Kingdom, so there won't be any work or projects for her during this period."
"I see," Talia said as she spread out the bedsheet. "You and the Great Lover Poet are quite the opposite, aren't you?"
"What do you mean?" Talia glanced at him as she laid out the sheet.
"Well, the Great Lover Poet is great in every way, but she'd rather die than do housework. And here you are, my summon, doing housework. I'm shocked." Lanchi shrugged.
"..." Talia frowned slightly.
At first, she thought he was complimenting her, but then she realized that by saying "you and the Great Lover Poet are quite the opposite" and "the Great Lover Poet is great in every way," he was implying that she lacked in certain areas.
"Hmph." Talia let out a cold laugh, deciding to focus on the task at hand.
After neatly making the bed and organizing her luggage, she picked up her small suitcase and walked over to Lanchi.
"Then how about this—when we get to your place, I'll do the housework every day?"
"She leaned down and asked softly by Lanchi's ear."
"No, no, no! Get some rest and don't you dare move. I'll do the chores!" Lanchi initially intended to nod in agreement, but then he realized the severity of the situation and frantically shook his head and waved his hands in denial. Having Talia do the chores would deplete his mana bar faster than a cliff drop. The fatigue induced by such mana expenditure would be far worse than if he did the chores himself!
"I'll help with the chores. Aren't you looking forward to having your summon help you with household tasks? After all, 'the Great Lover Poet is perfect in every way, but she'd rather die than do chores,' isn't that right?" Talia repeated Lanchi's words, her tone devoid of anger.
"No, no, no, I was wrong," Lanchi denied firmly.
"Then let's go," Talia said, as if she had gotten the answer she wanted. With a slight curl of her lips, she picked up her suitcase and glanced around the bedroom before walking to the door and turning off the soundproofing magic. "Let's depart."
Lanchi nodded and followed Talia out of the bedroom. It wouldn't be this easy to leave once Hyberrian and Cynora returned from the Duke's mansion; those two had taken a liking to exploring the mansion lately.
As Lanchi and Talia walked back into the living room, they spotted Cat Boss, looking as if he was glued to the wall, his curiosity piqued, though he couldn't hear a word of the conversation that had taken place in the room. Lanchi helplessly picked him up.
"Meow?" Cat Boss asked tentatively, not quite daring to inquire further.
Lanchi and Talia shared a glance, both remaining silent for a moment before Lanchi spoke to the little black cat. "We'll fill you in on everything when we get home later."
For the upcoming trip to the Bosen Kingdom, Lanchi would have to bring along his black cat, who had carried their mementos and endured hardships with them. All his various tool and function cards were now with Cat Boss, and he usually took the cat along on long trips.
"Why are you two able to communicate with just eye contact, meow?" Cat Boss asked, perplexed. He suspected he wasn't in their team chat.
"Cat Boss, just think of her as Tata, possessing all the abilities of the Great Lover Poet," Lanchi explained briefly.
Cat Boss pondered this for five or six seconds. "Meow?!?"
Previously, he had found the heart-link ability between Lanchi and Lanfu to be extremely dangerous. Who knew when they would both end up in jail because of it! Fortunately, Lanchi and Lanfu, as two young novices in love, had absolute trust in each other, so this ability was essentially no different from a communication spell for them.
However, if the Great Lover Poet were to be replaced by Tata, Cat Boss wasn't so sure anymore. From now on, he'd probably try to avoid Lanchi. He didn't want to be splattered with blood if Lanchi ever died!
"Tata, it's about time we left," Lanchi said, looking at the black cat curled up like a small black bread loaf in his arms and then at Talia.
Talia's gaze lingered on her home, a wistful expression on her face. "My little fox..." she murmured sadly.
She had thought she would have a few more days before having to bid farewell to her little companion when they left for the Bosen Kingdom, but now, unexpectedly, she had to say goodbye.
"It's alright. Antanas and the others will take good care of it at Cat Boss's restaurant..." Lanchi offered comfort.
It might even get more to eat there.
Before Lanchi could finish his reassuring words with a hearty laugh, Talia's stare made him break out in a cold sweat, and he fell silent. He hadn't yet fully adjusted to the heart-link with Talia.
Sometimes, his thoughts would wander subconsciously, and before he could analyze them, he would find himself thinking about something else. From now on, every day would be like detoxing from an addiction.
"Tsk." Talia clicked her tongue softly.
She understood that when Lanchi said it was time to leave, he meant for her to turn back into his magic card. In an instant, the Frenzied Love Demon King disintegrated into specks of light, reforming in Lanchi's hand as a magic card wreathed in twin petal-like orange mist.
"Weakling. You need to get stronger quickly so that I can freely use my new powers," Talia's voice echoed in the living room.
Lanchi put away this brand-new signature card, carrying the cat and Talia's suitcase as he left.
