Chapter 645: Lanchi's New Ending
Chapter 645: Lanchi's New Ending
The afternoon sun bathed the living room in a soft golden-orange hue, adding a touch of depth to the entire wooden cabin. The gentle breeze fluttered the curtains, bringing in the fresh air and subtle floral scent of summer, causing the pages of an open book to flutter.
In the quiet, the soft rustling of paper was distinctly audible.
Time seemed to stretch on.
"Is what your professor said true?"
Talia's gaze, unwavering, held Lanchi as she spoke.
She had never heard of such a theory during her time in the Demon Realm. Of course, the demon tribe's approach to card creation was vastly different from the modern human methods.
"I'm not sure," Lanchi replied, shaking his head.
While Professor Polaoz loved his pranks, as one of the few reliable elders at the Ikelite Academy, he had never misled Lanchi.
Talia seemed lost in thought at his words, remaining silent.
"...”
An awkward silence filled the room, neither knowing what to say.
"Why don't the two of you go to the Kingdom of Bosen and have a date while you're at it? Think of it as an indispensable part of card creation, a training session to enhance your rapport. It'll certainly be more enjoyable than staying cooped up here and bickering," Meow Boss interjected.
The room fell into an even deeper silence.
"I'm fine with that," Lanchi said, glancing at Talia.
"Then I don't mind either," Talia responded.
Though they seemed reluctant, neither wanted to be the one to suggest spending time together. Their pride was strong in this regard.
"Meow..." Meow Boss sighed, shaking his head.
Despite having fun together just yesterday, asking either of them to initiate a get-together might be more painful than killing them.
"Let's rest for today. Also, tomorrow we need to visit the Magic Engineering Institute. You'll need to confirm your personal information as my accompanying personnel. The Southern Continental Card Master Association will help us book the trip," Lanchi said, standing up and pushing his chair back under the table.
Tomorrow was the start of a new week, and the Institute would be open again. He and Talia would be departing for the Kingdom of Bosen the following week, and there were some things that needed to be reported in advance.
"What time?" Talia asked.
"Sometime after nine. I'll come find you at Meow Boss's restaurant," Lanchi replied.
"Okay." Talia was curious about the old man at the Magic Engineering Institute who had suggested they date. Ever since the border of South Ventina, Lanchi had often pored over that professor's magic engineering textbooks, and she distinctly remembered the name "Polaoz" as the author.
"By the way, didn't Hyberrian give you an epic earring?" Lanchi suddenly remembered something and asked as he placed his hand on the back of the chair.
"Yes, I'll be making an epic card for her in the future," Talia replied, a slight curve forming at the corners of her mouth as if recalling something pleasant. It was a rare display of happiness from her.
Lanchi, observing the softening of Talia's aura, didn't know what to say. The difference in how she treated Hyberrian and himself was stark.
However, the mere thought of Talia treating him the same way she treated Hyberrian sent a shiver down his spine.
"Most of the time, this six-cost magic card is pretty useless. Although merging with Antanas or Sinnora will make you stronger, you'll also lose a Great Demon," Lanchi said.
"..." Talia looked at him.
She knew that this epic item was a bit lackluster in the current era. But since it was a gift from Hyberrian, she cherished it.
It would be more suitable as a Tyrant's Power, forcing the conquest of weaker demons and compelling them to hand over their innate abilities. If used on a friend who was already loyal, merging might not be as effective as separate cooperation.
Unfortunately, there weren't many demons left in the world.
"Why don't you try merging with Great Love?" Lanchi suggested, taking out the orange-gold magic card and asking curiously.
The compatibility of the "Poem of Pity" with Talia should, in theory, be even higher than with himself. After all, the Talia from the other prophetic worldline was so powerful that the current Lanchi found it incredible.
What if these two originals merged and created a father?
"Would she agree to it?" Talia asked, not resistant to the idea.
She understood the value of the "Great Love Poet."
However, she felt that Lanfe's personality was similar to Lanchi's, and they were both people she didn't particularly enjoy interacting with.
Before Lanchi could respond, the magic card in his hand began to dissipate into light and shadow, and the Great Love Poet appeared in Talia's home with a giggle.
A fairy-like girl, surrounded by rose-like skirts, gracefully stepped into the living room of the wooden cabin, her eyes sparkling with joy.
"I don't mind. To be honest, I've always thought you'd be a better host than Lanchi. If only your desires were a little deeper, a little angrier, a little more persistent..." The Great Love Poet circled Talia, her fingertips gently resting on her shoulders, and she whispered in her ear, "If only I could manipulate you, control you, and turn you into my puppet completely..."
Before she could finish, the Great Love Poet found herself captured by Talia, pinned to the table, begging for mercy through her tears and cries.
"..." Lanchi shook his head silently.
Lanfe, you are truly brave.
To dare to confront Talia like that.
Talia would never indulge you.
"Alright, Tata, let her go. She just wants to get closer to you because she was born from you. She's just putting on a tough front," Lanchi explained.
"Waaah, you're always so scary to me. I don't even dare to come near you," the Great Love Poet sobbed.
"Sorry... I won't hit you again next time," Talia said, her tone softening slightly as she released the poet.
Talia hesitated at Lanchi's words, and her heart began to soften.
Feeling embarrassed to reprimand the Great Love Poet again, she let go and said guiltily, "Then hand over the earring."
The Great Love Poet held out her palm to Talia, eager to witness the epic-level magic card equipment.
Talia took out a pair of black metal earrings. They seemed to have been refined from the abyss of purgatory in the ancient depths of the Demon Realm, absorbing and reflecting the faintest bands of light in the room, displaying an unstable hue ranging from deep red to dark purple under the afternoon sun.
The surface of the metal earrings was covered with a thin layer of shimmering Demon Clan runes, and the two earrings were asymmetrically shaped.
Talia tucked her hair behind her ear to reveal a metallic curved spike, resembling a demon's horn.
The other earring was slender and gracefully curved, akin to a demon's tail.
The Great Love Poet, wiping away her tears, took the earrings from Talia and hung them on her left ear.
The once-stable barrier magic power in Talia's room began to ripple, as if triggered by an unparalleled mighty force.
Amidst the ripples of magic power, the Great Love Poet's figure gradually dissipated, becoming blurred and her physical boundaries beginning to disappear, like ink dropped into water, swiftly spreading through the air.
The frequency of the flashing runes on the surrounding walls increased, veiling the room in a layer of dark, illusory black mist.
"Meow?"
Startled by the sudden turn of events, Meow Boss jumped up and onto Lanchi's lap.
The surrounding air began to distort, as if space-time itself was about to fracture. Black mist and deep blue tidal waves gathered, engulfing Talia.
It was not just a fusion of bodies, but also of power, consciousness, and even souls.
In that moment, Talia was guarded by an invisible force, and the surrounding magic power seemed to form an isolating domain.
Magic power gathered and weaved in the air until a cocoon was formed, then it dissipated. After a few breaths, she slowly opened her eyes again.
"..."
Talia looked down at her hands in confusion, as if her appearance hadn't changed at all after the fusion.
Their faces had always been identical.
Only now, her eyes held a heterochromatic gleam, one gold and one blue.
"Meow meow!"
Meow Boss was stunned, staring at Tata.
For some reason, he felt an indescribable demonic aura emanating from her, causing his fur to stand on end.
Talia paused for a moment, then walked to the wall and took out paper and a pen from the cabinet. She wrote something and showed it to Lanchi:
"I feel like I've learned the Great Love Poet's demonic melody."
So she dared not speak casually.
Perhaps due to the 100% fusion, Talia's attributes, combined with the Great Love Poet's negligible attributes, multiplied by 100%, resulted in attributes almost identical to Talia's original ones.
"Try this ring. It will allow you to produce sound through your thoughts, helping you to speak without using demonic melodies."
Lanchi observed Talia and took a metal ring out of his pocket, handing it to her and teaching her how to use the Thought-to-Speech Ring developed by Professor Polaoz.
One taught, and the other listened. After a while, she nodded in understanding.
"I feel strange now, as if I've contracted a familiar, and..."
Talia finally felt relieved and murmured.
Suddenly, she seemed to realize something and grabbed Lanchi, pulling him into her bedroom and locking the door behind him.
"Have I become your familiar?!”
Talia leaned against the door, her voice trembling as she asked.
This strange feeling was as if she could communicate with him through her thoughts without speaking.
“...Yes.”
Lanchi closed his eyes and sensed for a moment, sharing the same feeling.
He could now clearly feel the connection between their souls.
In this state, Talia had replaced the Great Love Poet and become his brand new familiar card.
[Frenzied Love Demon King - Talia]
[Category: Summoning Card]
[Grade: Orange Epic]
[Attribute: Mental/Curse]
[Class: 8]
[Effect: Influence the emotions of all living beings through the rhythm of magic, increasing them by an unknown multiple, while also possessing all the original abilities of the Demon Princess "Talia".]
[Note: A brand new miracle demon born from the fusion of the Poem of Pity and the Demon.]
"So hurry up and undo it. Now that our minds are connected, I feel strange."
Lanchi felt his magic power draining quickly and suggested, "I'm spending a lot of magic power to maintain the summoning state of the Level 8 [Frenzied Love Demon King], which is far more than what a Level 1 [Great Love Poet] would consume.
If I let her enter a battle state, the magic power consumption would be unimaginable.
The problem wasn't just the power consumption.
Now, Talia could even hear his thoughts without using telepathy.
He could usually communicate with the Great Love Poet through thoughts, and since they were truly kindred spirits, there were no reservations between them.
But Talia was different. If she could read his thoughts, he might die! If he thought about her a hundred times a day, she would come and kill him at the Ikelite Academy, even if he were at Meow Boss's restaurant!
"I can't undo it..."
Talia stood there, dazed and motionless.
This equipment had a separation cooldown period after each use, and the higher the fusion degree, the harder it was to separate.
Her fusion with the Great Love Poet had reached an unreasonably perfect level, and now she couldn't even sense how to separate the Great Love Poet from herself.
"Ah?"
Lanchi froze, then shattered.
