Chapter 645: Do You Still Want to Hear the Answer, Hermione? (Third Update)
Chapter 645: Do You Still Want to Hear the Answer, Hermione? (Third Update)
"You refused him, didn't you? So he had no choice but to come to me..." Luna explained.
I did not refuse him!
Hermione was about to protest, but the words died in her throat.
After all, she had been deliberately avoiding Ivan because of the Legilimency issue...
Perhaps, in Ivan's eyes, this was no different from an outright refusal.
Thinking about this, Hermione pursed her lips and looked at Luna with a complex expression. She hesitated before asking, "He saw your memories?"
"Of course, it was quite interesting!" Luna nodded cheerfully.
To her, sharing a memory wasn't an embarrassing thing at all.
"Why did you give me this notebook, then?" Hermione asked, puzzled. If Luna didn't mind Ivan viewing her memories, why not continue with him?
"I think you need it more than I do, don't you?" Luna pointed to the books Hermione was holding, one of which had the title The Power of the Mind: How to Protect Your Brain visible on its cover.
Hermione instinctively clutched the books tighter, her face flushing red.
Ever since Ivan had viewed her memories, she had been studying methods to protect her mind, hoping to help Ivan practice Legilimency while retaining important memories.
Unfortunately, Occlumency was extremely difficult to master, and she had made little progress after several weeks, which was why she had been avoiding Ivan.
"What will you do now that you've given it to me?" Hermione looked at the notebook again, unable to resist asking.
She knew this wasn't just a notebook; it also meant that Luna was giving her the opportunity to practice Magic with Ivan.
"Do you know what I saw in his memories?" Luna didn't answer directly but asked another question.
Hermione shook her head.
"I saw that he likes you..." Luna bluntly revealed the answer.
"W-What?" Hermione's eyes widened as she stared at Luna, stuttering, almost unable to believe what she was hearing.
Luna didn't seem inclined to repeat herself. She pointed to the entrance hall and said in her ethereal voice, "He just went to the Great Hall to look for you. I think you probably just missed each other..."
Hermione looked at Luna in surprise. After a moment, she whispered, "Thank you..."
She realized she might have misunderstood the relationship between Luna and Ivan. If Luna truly liked Ivan, she would never have been so calm about letting him view her memories.
With this thought, Hermione's gaze softened, and the previous hostility turned into genuine gratitude. She thanked Luna again and hurriedly turned to run towards the Great Hall.
However, when Hermione entered the entrance hall, she was surprised to find no sign of Ivan. Just as she was wondering if he had already left, she felt someone tap her on the shoulder.
Hermione jumped, turning around to see Ivan standing behind her.
"Come on, follow me!" Ivan didn't waste any words, grabbing Hermione's hand and pulling her towards the Tower without waiting for a response.
The young witch stumbled along, her heart pounding as she felt the touch of their intertwined fingers. She didn't ask where Ivan was taking her, as her mind was too preoccupied to think about anything else.
"Alright, this is the place!" Ivan stopped in front of a classroom, leading Hermione.
Hermione finally dared to ask in a low voice, "Why are we here?"
"You'll know once we go inside", Ivan smiled, waving his wand to open the door and leading Hermione inside by the hand.
The classroom was pitch-black, and the darkness was somewhat daunting, but Hermione wasn't afraid. She just quietly gripped the hand Ivan was holding.
The door was quickly shut, and about ten seconds later, a speck of starlight appeared in the dark space. Then, one by one, candles were lit, and the room gradually became illuminated.
Hermione then realized that this place didn't look like a classroom at all. Large bunches of flowers adorned the walls, the floor was covered with a warm-colored carpet, and golden red ribbons floated in the air, making it resemble a mini Great Hall.
Ivan, like a conductor in an orchestra, gently waved his wand, and the melodious sound of an organ began to play. Christmas trees placed around the room were one by one lit up.
What surprised Hermione even more was that over a hundred "flower fairies" with pointed ears flew out of the Christmas trees. They were about the size of a palm, resembling young maidens with transparent wings, dancing around the two of them to the music.
"Wow, what are these?" Hermione asked curiously, extending her hand. A "flower fairy" landed on her palm just then.
"Zongxian!" Ivan answered with a smile.
These magical creatures, which didn't exist naturally, were created by his Transfiguration spell. However, due to the large number of transformations, they could only maintain their form for about half an hour.
"They are so beautiful!" Hermione gently lifted her hand, letting the Zongxian fly back into the sky, her eyes filled with delight.
"Is that so?" Ivan turned his head to look at Hermione, speaking very seriously. "I think they are nowhere near as beautiful as you!"
It was the first time Hermione had heard Ivan speak so directly, and a faint blush spread across her cheeks. She shyly avoided Ivan's gaze, pretending to admire the Zongxian.
But when Ivan called her name, the young witch immediately turned her head, and their eyes met.
This time, Hermione didn't avoid Ivan's gaze. Even though there was still some shyness and unease in her eyes, she looked surprisingly determined.
Because she felt the deep affection in Ivan's eyes...
"I'm sorry, Hermione!"
"I'm sorry, Ivan!"
As if their hearts were connected, the two voices echoed simultaneously in the classroom, which had been transformed into a garden.
A slightly awkward atmosphere spread between them, but it quickly dissipated.
"You go first!" Hermione said softly after a moment of silence.
Ivan nodded and asked, "You asked me last time why I chose to invite you to the Dance... I think I can answer you now!"
Hearing Ivan mention this, Hermione felt a bit uneasy. She had realized how unreasonable her question had been at the time and said softly, "I'm not bothered by that anymore..."
"Would you still like to hear the answer?" Ivan asked with a smile.
Hermione stared straight at Ivan, confirming that he really didn't mind, and then nodded.
