Chapter 644: Dog Eat Dog
Chapter 644: Dog Eat Dog
"Hey, what the hell is this?"
Trafalgar Law gritted his teeth, sweat beading on his temple. "Why did he have to show up?!"
"Golden Lion..."
Nico Robin, her half-body materialized on the beach, also wore a shocked expression. Compared to Law, she had deeper memories of Kuro – after all, they'd barely escaped from Shabondy not long ago. Without Law's intervention, their captain might never have survived!
"Oh? A familiar face! Nico Robin, is your captain still alive?"
Kuro descended from the sky, landing at the same level as Yi Xiao.
"I'm leaving first."
Robin closed her eyes, her hands flickering. Her half-body dissolved into flower petals.
Now the battlefield only had Law, Caesar, Donquixote Doflamingo, Yi Xiao, and Kuro remaining.
Donquixote glanced backward. A massive Golden Ship was approaching the sea.
"Kshhhkshhkshh! Your flagship sure is extravagant! Fits you perfectly!"
"Cut the crap."
Kuro, cigar clenched in his teeth, looked at Caesar beside Law. "Who's this guy? He looks suspiciously floaty."
"Vice Admiral, that's Caesar Clown – the scientist responsible for the Vegapunk Hazard gas incident", a Navy officer behind them reported.
"Caesar Clown? Never heard of him. Whatever, doesn't matter."
Kuro exhaled smoke. "Brother, I'm here as requested. Can't say I'm being unreasonable."
"Of course. My bond with Brother runs deep."
Yi Xiao nodded with a faint smile, then faced Donquixote and Law. "Heavenly Yaksha Mr., though I'm merely a new recruit, I've heard troubling reports about your violations of the Seven Warlords of the Sea regulations. And Caesar calling you 'Joker' – is that an alias?"
"Kshhhkshhkshh! Bring me concrete evidence first! Right now, I'm still a Seven Warlords of the Sea member", Donquixote chuckled.
Yi Xiao paused briefly. "Brother, as you see, Heavenly Yaksha Mr. hasn't resigned from his Seven Warlords of the Sea position or his title as King. Mr.5 just informed me this was a false report – even the Navy received misinformation. Quite astonishing."
"Ah, seems normal to me."
Kuro clicked his tongue. "Considering who his family is."
World Nobles manipulating the World Government to spread false news? Perfectly normal, especially when Donquixote's contributions to the World Government were anything but minor.
"Hey! Kuro, how much do you know about this?!"
The remark made Donquixote's expression flicker, but he quickly recovered. "Kshhhkshhkshh! Makes sense – you're close to that idiot Charloss!"
Kuro glared at Donquixote. "Since when did Old Man get close to someone like him? I'll sue you for defamation!"
"Kshhhkshhkshh! Doesn't matter, does it? What matters is I'm still a Seven Warlords member. We're on the same side. Including Caesar – he's my subordinate. By regulations, shouldn't you release him?" Donquixote declared.
Yi Xiao fell silent for a moment. "You're a Seven Warlords member, so by regulation, you're 'white.' As for Trafalgar Law Mr., if the news about your alliance with Luffy's Crew is true, you're 'black.' But if Luffy is merely your subordinate, you're 'white.' Law Mr., based on your answer..."
He raised his cane-sword, one hand resting on the hilt. "My mission here will change accordingly."
"What kind of judgment standard is that?! Just lie and solve it!" Caesar shouted.
Kuro raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
Donquixote was still a Seven Warlords member – technically on the same side. But did they expect the Navy to help one pirate fight another? That was absurd. Let them tear each other apart.
As for Law... he couldn't lie.
Luffy was still in Dressrosa. If he lied and they returned to Dressrosa together, the situation would worsen.
They had to stall for now.
"Luffy is my ally, not my subordinate!" Law roared.
"Kshhhkshhkshh! Foolish!" Donquixote laughed maniacally.
A purple light sphere erupted from Yi Xiao's body.
Crack!
He unsheathed his cane-sword.
"Therefore, Law Mr., you're hereby removed from the Seven Warlords. Arrest proceedings begin now."
Instantly, the purple light shot toward the sky.
A massive shadow soon loomed over the beach.
A flaming meteor hurtled downward.
"A meteor?! Quick, dodge!"
Navy officers and Caesar screamed, scrambling into the bushes.
"A meteor, huh?" Donquixote glanced skyward, eyes wary.
He wasn't overly surprised – he'd already experienced Kuro's terrifying power before.
But was this meteor meant to eliminate him too?!
"Hey, what the hell?!" Law exclaimed, shocked by the attack.
"Hm?"
Kuro looked up. "Just a meteor, huh."
Good thing this Brother didn't drag his entire treasury down.
"Room!"
Law extended his hand. A transparent dome materialized around him. The meteor entered the dome, and Law cleaved it in two with a single slash.
Boom!
Dust and debris engulfed the battlefield.
As the dust settled, a massive crater replaced their former positions, with four intact pillars remaining inside.
Yi Xiao, Kuro, Donquixote, and Law stood on separate pillars.
"Hey, how dare you attack first?! Didn't your Fleet Admiral teach you proper conduct?!" A blue vein throbbed on Donquixote's temple.
Before he could continue, Kuro frowned. "How we act has nothing to do with a pirate like you. Remember your place, Donquixote Doflamingo."
"Tch!"
Donquixote shot Kuro a glare before lunging at Law.
"Proceed, Brother?" Yi Xiao asked.
"Stay out of this, Brother. Pirate vs pirate – who wins or loses doesn't concern us. More importantly, why did you summon me here?" Kuro questioned.
"Being a mere new recruit, I lack your experience. Perhaps you could advise me. Additionally, this Heavenly Yaksha Mr.'s tournament harbors many dangerous individuals we must capture", Yi Xiao explained.
"Oh? Important enough for you to come personally? Makes sense – ordinary Vice Admirals can't handle them."
Kuro mused, "Besides Luffy, there are other ferocious ones – like Chinjao."
"Oh? 'Spike Chinjao'? I've heard of him", Yi Xiao nodded.
"Exactly that Chinjao. Strange... who was supposed to handle Chinjao again?"
Kuro furrowed his brow, glancing toward Dressrosa. "Has the ability taken effect yet? Toy Toy Fruit."
