Chapter 643: Chaos
Chapter 643: Chaos
In the northern region of Seireitei, a portal hung in the sky, shattered to pieces. Beyond the fragments, a vortex of nothingness swirled, leaking an aura of terror that could only belong to Hell.
Standing before the broken gate of Hell were the captains of the Gotei 13, with the exception of Aizen: Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, captain of the First Division; Gin Ichimaru, captain of the Third Division; Retsu Unohana, captain of the Fourth Division; and Byakuya Kuchiki, captain of the Sixth Division.
A large number of Kido Corps members had surrounded the shattered gate, their spells forming chains of characters that rapidly created a barrier, in an attempt to seal off the broken entrance to Hell.
Whoosh!
Yoruichi Shihoin appeared behind Yamamoto.
"Captain-Commander!" she called out.
"..." Yamamoto, leaning on his cane, responded with a solemn expression.
"Do we have the temporary seal for the gate of Hell?" he asked.
"I've sent Soifon to retrieve it," Yoruichi replied. "What's the situation now?"
Yamamoto, his gaze fixed on the broken gate, said gravely, "We're not sure yet. The gate of Hell was broken from the inside."
From the inside? Yoruichi's eyebrows furrowed slightly as she paused.
Although she almost certainly suspected Aizen's involvement, they couldn't bring up his name at the moment. Aizen had just been assigned a mission to rescue a Soul Reaper in the human world, and on the surface, there seemed to be no connection between him and the broken gate of Hell.
They had already fallen into Aizen's scheme, and for now, they could only follow his plan. Their priority was to find a way to seal the broken gate as soon as possible.
"They're here!" Kyoraku Shunsui suddenly exclaimed, his eyes fixed on the shattered gate.
The other captains turned their heads in unison, their hands resting on the hilts of their Zanpakuto.
Silence fell.
From the broken gate, a figure emerged, his body half-covered in golden skeletal armor. An overwhelming and terrifying spiritual pressure emanated from him, far surpassing that of an average captain.
Merely stepping out of the gate of Hell caused the hastily erected barrier to crack and then explode with a bang.
Boom!
The surging spiritual pressure turned into waves that rushed in all directions, prompting the nearby captains to draw their Zanpakuto and release their own spiritual pressure to resist.
Jushiro Ukitake looked at the figure who had emerged and narrowed his eyes. "You are... Vice-Captain Ide. Did you break the gate of Hell?"
Ide Tanaka!
He was the newly promoted vice-captain of the Tenth Division's Patrol and Surveillance Squad, just six months ago.
Captain Shihoin Yashichiro, taken aback for a moment, now wore an expression of anger and shock as he turned to his vice-captain. "Ide, what have you done?"
"I've done what I've always wanted to do," Ide Tanaka replied, stroking the golden skeletal shell on his hand. "I've been preparing for this day for over fifty years, Captain Shihoin. Today, I finally accomplished my goal."
"What have you accomplished?" Shihoin demanded angrily.
"I had an older brother in life," Ide Tanaka explained calmly. "He committed many sins and was sent to Hell instead of coming to Soul Society with me. Although he committed heinous acts, he was the only person in the world who treated me well. So, no matter what, I had to save him from Hell."
"So I became a Soul Reaper, slowly gathering information about Hell. I also took advantage of my position in the patrol squad to study Hell, and finally, I discovered that if I obtained the power of Hell, I could open its gates and free everyone within."
At this point, Ide raised his hand and clenched it into a fist, a smile spreading across his face. "Now... I've finally done it."
"Well done, Tanaka," a voice said from behind Ide. A man who resembled Ide stepped out of the broken gate—his brother, Ide Tanoue.
More figures emerged from Hell, each exuding a heart-pounding spiritual pressure that rivaled that of a captain-level Soul Reaper. They were malevolent spirits from Hell, constantly rebelling against the guardians of Hell, having endured countless deaths and battles within its confines.
"Wahahaha! Your little brother is really something, Tanoue!" one of them exclaimed.
"Thanks to you, I finally have freedom as well! Lord Ide," Tanoue replied.
Some of them revealed sinister grins, while others closed their eyes, savoring the air and spiritual particles of Soul Society.
Shihoin lowered his head slightly as he sensed the oppressive spiritual pressure, then raised his Zanpakuto and swung it at Ide Tanaka with all his might.
"You bastard, Ide!" he shouted.
Whoosh!
As he swung his blade, a crescent-shaped spiritual pressure blasted towards Ide Tanaka and the others in the air.
However, Ide Tanaka merely sneered at Shihoin's attack. He raised his left hand and effortlessly crushed the incoming Getsuga Tensho with his bare hand.
Crack!
"Still don't understand the situation, Captain Shihoin?" Ide Tanaka asked, a hint of mockery in his voice. "Contact with Hell is strictly forbidden. So, if I were to be sentenced to death after freeing my brother, it would be pointless. That's why I needed the power to destroy all of you."
"Now that I possess the power of Hell and am connected to it, my strength surpasses anything you captains can easily overcome!"
Chapter 643: Chaos (Part 2)
Tanaka Ide abruptly raised his Zanpakuto with his right hand and slashed it downward towards Isshin Shiba.
Whoosh!!!
A vast spiritual pressure transformed into a massive golden blade, descending towards Isshin. The burst of spiritual energy was far more powerful than Isshin's previously released Moon Fang Heaven-Piercer.
Sensing this spiritual pressure, Isshin's expression changed. His instinct was to dodge, but behind him lay the central area of the Seireitei. If he evaded such a powerful attack, the consequences for the area behind him would be unimaginable; it might even destroy half of the Seireitei!
He had no choice but to take it head-on!
Isshin grit his teeth and prepared to counter with his Zanpakuto.
However, before he could make a move, a figure appeared in front of him. This figure had a flowing beard, and as his captain's haori fluttered, it revealed countless scars on his muscular body, which was accompanied by the rise of scorching flames.
Boom!!!
Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto swung his Zanpakuto, colliding with Tanaka Ide's attack. After a deafening explosion, the two assaults canceled each other out.
"Oh, as expected of the Captain-Commander," Ide remarked, narrowing his eyes. "Even against my power, augmented by the forces of Hell, you can hold your ground..."
Jushiro Ukitake spoke to Ide, his voice deep and stern. "What you're doing is pointless, Ide. Do you think making such a ruckus won't attract the attention of His Majesty, the Soul King? No matter how strong you are, you cannot stand against him."
"I never intended to oppose His Majesty, the Soul King," Ide replied with a peculiar smile. "In the eyes of His Majesty, you and I are the same... If the Gotei 13 loses to me, it would only prove that you are all worthless and unworthy of bearing the name of Shinigami. On the other hand, I, who defeated you, would be more qualified to become His Majesty's attendant."
Yamamoto, holding Ryuujin Jakka, glanced at Ide and then at the figures emerging from the broken gate of Hell behind him. He closed his eyes briefly before opening them again and said, "There's no point in talking further. Crush them all!"
"Yes!"
The captains, including Komenori Jin and Byakuya Kuchiki, responded in unison.
In the next instant, the captains raised their Zanpakutos, and a surge of spiritual pressure soared into the sky.
"Bankai!!!"
At least several voices overlapped as they declared their Bankai simultaneously.
"Senbonzakura Kageyoshi!"
"Kurohitsugi Tenchiken!"
"Shin'eiyaku!"
The captains unleashed their respective attacks on the group from Hell, led by Ide Tanaka, aiming to pulverize them instantly.
However, the Hell beings behind Ide Tanaka were not weaklings. They were extremely vicious souls who, after falling into Hell, rebelled against the guardians day and night, constantly fighting and killing each other. Each one of them was almost as powerful as a captain!
Boom!!!
A violent explosion ripped through the sky.
The entire heavens were thrown into chaos, with battles erupting everywhere.
"So this is the strength of the Shinigami captain that Tanaka mentioned? It's nothing special!"
Ide, holding two ghost blades, grinned as he engaged in close-quarters combat with Kaname Tosen, forcing the latter, who lacked a Bankai, to retreat step by step.
In other directions, Yoruichi Shihoin and the others were also locked in intense battles. Even the Captain-Commander, Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, was facing off against Tanaka Ide, who had acquired the power of Hell.
With the power of Hell, Ide possessed strength beyond that of a typical captain. However, Yamamoto, as the strongest Shinigami in a millennium, was an exceptionally powerful existence even among those beyond the captain level. Despite being unable to release his Bankai due to the battlefield conditions, he managed to withstand Ide's attacks with just his Shikai state.
At the same time.
Yoruichi Shihoin and the other captains suppressed the evil spirits that had emerged from Hell, including Ide Tanoue. Notably, Kenpachi Zaraki was pushing back one of them relentlessly.
Despite the unfavorable turn of events, Ide Tanaka remained unflustered and instead smiled slyly. A gleam flashed in his eyes as he clenched his fist toward the shattered gate of Hell.
Buzz!!!
The broken gate of Hell trembled violently, emitting a wave that rippled outward.
Figures began to appear from the shattered gate, stepping out into the outside world. In addition, massive hands, akin to mountains, protruded from the gate of Hell.
Those figures were sinners from Hell, and the gigantic hands belonged to the guardians of Hell!
The sinners who had burst out of Hell varied in strength, with some stronger than others. The most powerful among them barely reached the level of a typical captain, while most were not as formidable. However, the Hell guardians who had forced their way out through the gate exuded terrifying spiritual pressure.
The guardians of Hell were not living beings but entities connected to Hell itself, born from the rules and regulations. Each of their spiritual pressures was linked to Hell, emitting waves of energy almost on par with that of a captain!
"Not good..."
Upon seeing this, Yamamoto's expression changed, and he shouted, "Retsu! You take care of them!"
After calling out to Retsu Unohana, Yamamoto immediately turned his attention away from Ide Tanaka and rushed towards the gate of Hell. He swung his Ryuujin Jakka forward, attempting to block the gate.
Rumbling!!!
Scorching flames engulfed the shattered gate of Hell, forcibly sealing it shut.
With Yamamoto's intervention, the third Hell guardian trying to force its way out was pushed back. However, the first two guardians had already engaged the captains in battle.
The influx of sinners and the two Hell guardians quickly turned the tide of the battle. Although they didn't gain complete dominance, the situation was no longer as unfavorable as before!
The battlefield descended into complete chaos.
