Chapter 642: Energy
Chapter 642: Energy
After finishing his call with Wu Han, Chen Chuan checked the contact information of Geng Zhen and the other two individuals, deciding to reach out to them at a later time.
Gao Ming had advised him to start cultivating his own team early, and he agreed with this point.
Before reaching a level of strength where he didn't have to consider anything, it was impossible for him to handle everything alone. Not to mention the impending grand collision, even in the present, as the Investigation Chief, he couldn't possibly handle all the matters personally.
The Handling Bureau could allocate some personnel to him, but he wasn't familiar with these individuals, and they might not be as reliable. Moreover, it was highly likely that these people had connections with others within the bureau, which could potentially cause complications.
While these people could be utilized in regular situations, during critical moments, any negligence or influence from certain individuals could lead to unpredictable outcomes. Therefore, he needed to have people he could trust.
Perhaps this was why the bureau had given him some freedom in allocating personnel.
He planned to recruit his two old classmates and Wei Chang'an's group, as they had worked together before, possessed exceptional abilities, and had great potential. They could become his first team.
As for Geng Zhen and the other two, Chen Chuan was well aware of their capabilities. They were all exceptionally talented, and the fact that the Mutual Aid Society had recruited them and later sent them for the Infinite Defense Exam was proof of their abilities.
These three individuals had no significant character flaws, and being from Yangzhi City, they naturally shared a common ground with him. Currently, they were likely working under a client due to their lack of official citizen status, and he could try to recruit them.
At that moment, he glanced at his Second Self and noticed that the alteration was still ongoing, with no indication of when it would stop.
His gaze intensified, and he suspected that the person whose voice was recorded might be a warrior, given the nature of the spiritual invasion.
Whether it was Ji Xinmin and the others utilizing this person's spiritual energy or if the owner of the energy had instructed them to do so was unclear.
The fact that these three individuals knew he had joined the Pureline Sect but still sought him out and used such means couldn't be a coincidence.
He pondered for a moment and instantly thought of multiple possibilities, but couldn't be certain.
He needed to be cautious about this matter.
According to the Specialist's previous statement, once the internal procedures of the sect were completed, someone would deliver the Purity Substance to him. Now that he had returned from overseas, the Pureline Sect would likely send someone to contact him soon.
He decided to wait until then to address this issue.
He continued to browse through the previous messages and replied to each one. Towards the end, he came across several messages from the Fusion Boundary.
The first message was from Yan Yi, informing him that the three cities' wastelands she recommended to the company had proven to be highly capable, successfully thwarting several invasion attempts.
After reading this, he immediately accessed the Fusion Boundary's security management platform and retrieved some stored recordings, confirming that there had indeed been some attack attempts.
However, it was evident that most of these actions were merely probes, likely initiated by those who had learned of his absence. Upon discovering that the Fusion Boundary remained well-guarded even without him, they ceased their activities.
This was a common occurrence in the competitive business landscape.
He exited the platform and continued to read the second message.
It was from Yan Yi again, stating that the company's business negotiations were progressing well, but for the smooth expansion of operations, Meng Shu would personally go overseas for inspections and signings. The itinerary was already being arranged.
The company would bring the three cities' wastelands and also hire some trustworthy personnel through a reputable client company, asking if there were any areas that required attention or reinforcement.
After some thought, Chen Chuan replied that he had returned and would visit the company soon to discuss the matter.
After replying to all the messages, the vehicle arrived back in Wu Ding District. He directed the vehicle to the Handling Bureau, where he briefed Wu on the situation and handed over the captured Ji Xinmin and the other two.
Chen Chuan knew that this incident involved two factions, and the Handling Bureau might not be able to resolve it. Therefore, the Pureline Sect would likely have to step in to handle the matter.
After settling this matter, he returned to his residence, where he washed up and placed the confiscated short blade in his collection room, storing it in one of the sword cabinets.
After taking a few steps back, he nodded in satisfaction.
The most fruitful period was during the Vermouth breeding days.
Among the items obtained were the auxiliary general's sword, the swords of Gong Changxiu and others, Chang Kuanghai's long axe, Astrid's armor, and other weapons.
However, it was still early to fill up this collection room, and the expansion of the collection room was even further away, so he reminded himself that he needed to work harder.
After admiring the collection for a while, he left and returned to his cultivation for the day.
About an hour after Ji Xinmin and the others were sent to the Handling Bureau, a team of lawyers from the Gray Shell Agency arrived at the bureau. They requested the release of the three individuals by paying a fine, arguing that they had no wanted or criminal records.
The Handling Bureau rejected this request.
These three individuals were suspected of assaulting a high-ranking official of the Handling Bureau and were personally reported and captured by Chen Chuan. The records of the previous interception were also included.
Most importantly, the three had interfered with the Dimensional Token's domain information judgment.
If this situation were to be exaggerated, it would be considered a serious obstruction of law enforcement, especially since the Vermouth split had just ended, and the city's defenses had not been completely lifted. Special alert regulations could be used to detain the individuals.
The lawyer team waited at the Handling Bureau for a long time, but their request was never granted, and they left with sullen faces.
Just one night passed, and on the 29th, Chen Chuan received numerous unfamiliar messages, all requesting a conversation with him. However, these messages were blocked by An Dun.
In the morning, he received a message from a familiar classmate, including Tan Zhi.
"Chen, Teacher Wei contacted me today, saying that someone wants to know about the people you caught. They asked me to ask you to release them, but I know I don't have that kind of influence, so I just agreed to ask."
Chen Chuan replied, "I understand. You can tell her that this is an official matter."
Tan Zhi said, "Okay, I'll reply to her like that."
Chen Chuan thought for a moment. He could sense that Teacher Wei's action was not a request for the release of the three individuals but a subtle way of informing and reminding him of the other party's power.
As soon as Tan Zhi's call ended, Pan Xiaode contacted him for the same reason.
"Chen, I don't want to talk about this, but my father insists that I do. Just do what you think is right; don't worry about my reputation."
Chen Chuan laughed and said okay.
Apart from these two, other teachers from Wu Yi Academy whom he knew or had met also sent him messages regarding this matter, subtly reminding him to ease the tension with those people. He realized that stubbornly resisting might not be in his favor.
After reading these messages, his eyes flashed slightly. He sensed the other party's background and power, and most of the people he knew were either willingly or unwillingly influenced by them.
Apart from pressuring him to let go of the three individuals, the other party might also be trying to apply pressure through these people.
If it weren't for the fact that these people couldn't influence the Handling Bureau, he might not have been able to withstand the pressure. This, however, gave him more confidence.
Still, he had to consider that the other party's request for leniency was just a superficial move, and they might have other means at their disposal. He couldn't let his guard down.
So, after some thought, he sent messages to some familiar people, reminding them to be cautious.
At that moment, a voice suddenly came from the Dimensional Token: "Hello, is this Manager Chen?"
Chen Chuan's eyes flickered. When the voice came, An Dun showed no reaction, but he immediately realized that the voice wasn't transmitted through the token but was directly conveyed to it using domain and psychic energy. The token merely acted as a medium, and the person was likely nearby.
He stood up and went to the balcony, looking outside. He saw an off-road vehicle parked across the street, and as if sensing his presence, the voice continued, "Hello, Fellow Fighter. I was ordered to deliver the items you requested. Could you come and receive them?"
Hearing the word "Fellow Fighter," Chen Chuan immediately understood. He nodded and went downstairs, out of the house, and toward the off-road vehicle.
As he approached, the car door opened from the inside, and a middle-aged man in a white shirt, with a slightly neglected physique, squeezed out.
This man had a very ordinary appearance, and if thrown into a crowd, he would hardly stand out. He looked like an office clerk from any company, but unlike most modern employees, he didn't have any implants, making him appear exceptionally clean.
The middle-aged man smiled and extended his hand, "Manager Chen, I'm Chang Dong, the newly appointed leader of the Pureline Sect in Jinbeidao Central City."
