Chapter 641: Interception
Chapter 641: Interception
Upon receiving the order, one of the vehicles in the convoy, equipped with a ram's horn ramper at its front, accelerated swiftly, overtaking the others to take the lead. It then collided with the intercepting vehicle, sending it flying like a lightweight toy. The car tumbled and rolled to the side of the road.
The rest of the convoy followed suit, quickly driving through the breach and onto the road.
From behind, Ji Xinmin witnessed this scene and couldn't help but curse under his breath. He then used his World Credential to communicate with the other two individuals, pushed open the car door, and leaped out of the speeding vehicle.
As soon as his feet touched the ground, his legs began to accelerate, and within a few strides, he surpassed the moving vehicles. His body almost left an afterimage as he chased after the convoy ahead.
Further down the road, Ji Xinmin's two companions appeared and positioned themselves in front of the convoy.
This was part of their plan; if the vehicles couldn't stop them, they would take matters into their own hands.
Both individuals stood with their legs apart, wearing sunglasses, and with their hands slightly spread apart, each holding a delicate metal short staff. As Third Limitation Fighters, intercepting a moving vehicle was not a difficult task as long as they had the right tools and weapons.
Ji Xinmin had already reached the front and leaped over the convoy, landing in front of the two individuals. With a thud, he turned to face the convoy.
Chen Chuan observed the situation ahead and realized that the convoy's security team was no match for three prepared Third Limitation Fighters. Even if they collided, it might result in casualties. So, he spoke up, "Stop the vehicles."
The convoy came to a halt about twenty meters away from the three individuals.
A steward quickly exited the car, opened the door from the side, and Chen Chuan stepped out. He signaled for everyone to wait while he approached the three individuals alone.
He looked at Ji Xinmin and said calmly, "Mr. Ji, you should be aware that your actions are dangerous and may lead to unpredictable consequences. I hope you have a reasonable explanation."
Ji Xinmin and the others suddenly felt a sense of pressure, something they hadn't experienced in Yangzhi City. He disliked this feeling and struggled to suppress the urge to step back. He lifted his hand to straighten his wrinkled clothes, masking his unease.
"Director Chen, we mean no offense. We were entrusted by someone to deliver a message to you, but you refused to accept our contact. We had no choice but to resort to this method," Ji Xinmin explained.
"If you genuinely want to talk to me, you can try communicating by sending messages," Chen Chuan said. "You can also have someone close to me or my colleagues relay your message. If I find it appropriate, I will communicate with you. There are many ways to do this, rather than using such unpleasant methods."
Ji Xinmin's eyes twitched slightly. Indeed, they had other means to contact Chen Chuan. They were employees of the Refinement Sect, known for their assertive approach.
They had always gotten their way, meeting whomever they wanted. It was unheard of for anyone to reject them, and they couldn't tolerate Chen Chuan's refusal.
Moreover, they didn't believe their actions would have consequences. They acted without a second thought.
However, he didn't show his true hardness on the surface. He took a breath and said, "Director Chen, my apologies. This matter is indeed crucial, so we had to resort to this method to meet with you. And..."
He hinted, "This time, the person who sent us here is a prominent figure. Director Chen, I think you should hear him out."
Chen Chuan's voice remained calm. "I don't care what you intend to do, nor do I want to know who that prominent figure behind you is. I have no interest in listening to him.
I'm currently on vacation. If you have official matters, you should discuss them with the Processing Bureau. If it's a personal matter, I'm afraid I have nothing to talk about with you.
Please step aside now."
Ji Xinmin's expression turned cold. "Director Chen, we know you've joined the Pure Essence Sect, but don't think that gives you carte blanche. I can tell you that the person who sent me here has the power to determine your future and fate.
There are still people you can't afford to offend."
Ignoring them, Chen Chuan turned and began walking back. He had already warned that if these three individuals didn't comply, he would order the security team to shoot.
Ji Xinmin watched his retreating figure and signaled to one of his companions, who produced an old-style radio and turned on the button.
A burst of static emerged from the radio, and a voice spoke directly into Ji Xinmin's mind, "Come over to our side."
Chen Chuan halted in his tracks.
A smile appeared on Ji Xinmin's face. The prominent figure had sent them a tape along with their instructions to meet with Chen Chuan. It seemed to be working.
Chen Chuan turned around and looked at the tape recorder. The voice repeated the same phrase, and he glanced at the Second Self, where the virtual traces were like ripples on a disturbed pond. The information field around him seemed to be in disarray, so he looked up at Ji Xinmin and the others.
Jin Xinmin and the others suddenly felt a sense of unease. He signaled to turn up the volume on the radio.
But it was of no use; despite the relentless mental assault on Chen Chuan, his eyes only grew calmer.
Jin Xinmin suddenly felt a strong sense of threat approaching. Before he could react, a palm appeared in front of him.
His heart skipped a beat, and he tried to raise his hand to defend himself, but his body couldn't keep up with his instincts. Before he could make a move, the palm had already pressed against his face, and he was sent flying backward.
The other two immediately charged towards Chen Chuan, one of them swinging a short staff towards his right shoulder, while the other crouched and struck at his knee from below.
Their movements were incredibly fast, and their coordination was seamless. The attacks landed on Chen Chuan simultaneously, but he didn't budge an inch. Instead, they felt like they had struck a sturdy, thick tire, and the metal staff was repelled by a counterforce that made their arms go numb.
At that moment, Chen Chuan reached out, grabbed one of them by the wrist, and swung them towards the other side. The other person was backing away, but Chen Chuan's movement was too swift. Before they could react, their companion's body slammed into them.
The dull sound of a body collision echoed, and the two seemed to pause in mid-air before falling in a tangle. Most of the bones in their bodies had broken from the impact.
At that moment, Jin Xinmin fell to the ground with a loud thud. His eyes turned white, and he seemed to have lost consciousness during the attack.
The recorder in his hand rolled away, but the voice inside had already disappeared before the attack, leaving only the sound of the tape spinning.
Chen Chuan had heard it clearly; the sentence was repeated seven times. As the field domain returned to normal, he touched his world credentials and directly contacted the Processing Bureau: "An Dun, I was just attacked. I've taken down the assailants. Prepare the case for me."
An Dun's voice came through: "We detected field domain information disorder half a minute ago. It's determined to be information interference. Based on the situation, it's confirmed that you were attacked. Manager Chen, the case has been filed."
Chen Chuan let go of his hand.
