Chapter 640: Let It Go
Chapter 640: Let It Go
Jiang Xia led a group of foreign buyers, walking from booth to booth, energetically promoting new products from each stall, regardless of whether they were from her part-time employer or not.
Many of the foreign buyers were already familiar with the older products, so she didn't need to go into much detail about them.
One characteristic of Chinese export products was the abundance of similar items.
Jiang Xia only selected the new products from each manufacturer to sample and promote: "Are these the new instant noodles and pasta?"
The staff member quickly replied, "Yes, these are our new products introduced in June. The noodles are really springy and chewy! We have some already prepared for you to try."
Jiang Xia took a pair of disposable bamboo chopsticks and a small bowl folded from greaseproof paper, picked up a bit of the pasta, and took a bite. The taste was indeed good.
She then tried the instant noodles, which were also delicious—crispy and chewy.
She asked, "Can these instant noodles be eaten dry?"
"Sure! You can eat them dry. Give it a try." The staff member handed her a pack.
Jiang Xia took it, opened the bag, poured in some seasoning, and ate it dry.
After trying both ways, Jiang Xia called over a foreign buyer who had ordered a large quantity of instant noodles the previous year to taste the new product from this food factory.
This buyer was from Vietnam.
The last time, the instant noodles he bought, paired with the sauce Jiang Xia had mixed, sold extremely well, even running out of stock at times. He placed additional orders every month.
Most of the products Jiang Xia recommended sold very well, and even the few that didn't were still good sellers compared to others.
So he trusted Jiang Xia. When she called him to taste the new product, he immediately tried it and gave a thumbs up: "Delicious!"
Jiang Xia smiled, "If you add our soy sauce factory's fish sauce and chili sauce, along with the seasoning pack that comes with the noodles, it will amaze your taste buds. You can try it before placing your order."
The wealthy Vietnamese businessman waved his hand, "No need to try. I trust you. I'll order thirty thousand cases of these instant noodles!"
Several of Jiang Xia's "regular customers" also placed orders, ranging from ten thousand to five thousand cases.
The other foreign buyers, who were more accustomed to eating instant noodles, saw them place such large orders and couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you going to try other brands before placing your order?"
The wealthy Vietnamese businessman replied, "No need. I trust the instant noodles Jiang Xia recommends. Last year at the Guangzhou Trade Fair, all the products she introduced sold very well."
He was planning to continue purchasing the same foods from last year, but in larger quantities.
He didn't just sell one type of product; he dealt in imported foods from all over the world. He would buy any product that could make money, and even some that didn't, because a diverse range of products showcased his strength and attracted more distributors.
He wasn't afraid to buy new products; he was more worried about not having enough new and good products to buy.
The more new products he had, the more options he had to help him make money.
Jiang Xia then told the staff, "This customer wants to order thirty thousand cases of instant noodles. Please register it."
The factory manager quickly instructed his subordinates, "Open an order for this gentleman."
What a great start!
The fair had only been open for less than half an hour, and they had already secured a big order.
The staff immediately processed the order.
Jiang Xia asked the factory manager for two packs of instant noodles. She planned to go to the sauce factory and personally mix a sauce for everyone to try.
The factory manager immediately assigned one of his staff to carry a box of instant noodles and follow Jiang Xia.
Jiang Xia simply said, "Thank you for your hard work", and continued leading the group to the next booth.
Jiang Xia had a great memory. She remembered every customer she had interacted with and what they had purchased. Before coming to the Guangzhou Trade Fair, she had even researched how well their products were selling back home, noting which items were popular and which were not.
Whenever she encountered a product that was selling well, she would call the customer over to try it.
Using this method, she had already helped several manufacturers secure their first orders of the day.
But this Vietnamese businessman's order was the biggest so far.
While promoting other food factories' products, Jiang Xia also made sure to introduce the products from the factories where she worked part-time.
Once she reached those factories, she expected a surge of orders.
Meanwhile, Wenwan was busy in the clothing exhibition area. She showed a few foreign clients the clothes they were selling, quoted them prices, and then moved on to the next booth. It was early in the morning, and not many people had arrived yet, so Wenwan and her group had to return to the entrance and wait.
As they descended the stairs, they heard that Jiang Xia had just secured a major order.
One of the female students, recalling Wenwan's earlier comment about Jiang Xia being on commission, couldn't help but ask, "Wenwan, you said she's on commission and that her father is very capable. What exactly does that mean? What does her father do?"
Wenwan replied, "It's not a big deal. I just meant that she's very talented. Last year's Autumn Guangzhou Trade Fair, she worked as a part-time translator for several factories and earned over a hundred thousand dollars in commissions alone. Look at her now, securing such a big order."
Wenwan didn't know exactly how much Jiang Xia had earned, but it was probably around that figure.
A hundred thousand dollars?
The group gasped in shock!
A part-time translator earning a hundred thousand dollars?
What did that mean?
That was several hundred thousand Rmb!
They all worked as translators, yet while the other earned hundreds of thousands, they only made ten Rmb a day?
The difference was too vast!
Wenwan glanced at their stunned faces and then at Jiang Qian, who seemed lost in thought. She felt compelled to explain, "It's not that surprising, actually. You should hear her speak foreign languages; she's really good. Because of her language skills, the foreign clients love listening to her introduce products. If you don't believe me, go listen to her. Her sales techniques and pronunciation are definitely worth learning. Once we have her skills, we might also be able to earn tens of thousands at the Guangzhou Trade Fair."
As they walked, Wenwan realized that Jiang Xia wasn't the pampered, useless person from her past life. She had real talent.
Of course, Jiang Xia's success was also due to her family background. Her family had lifted her up, making her one of the first to become wealthy after the economic reforms.
After all, there were many capable people in the world. Wenwan herself, having been reborn with excellent language skills and a wealth of knowledge, still couldn't match Jiang Xia's earnings without a good family background or influential connections. Everything she achieved was through her own hard work, which was why she lagged behind so much.
She knew that the seafood market would be very profitable in the future, with valuable stalls and high rents. But without the strong financial backing of Jiang Xia and her brother, she could only watch as others snatched these opportunities away.
Wenwan had come to terms with this.
There were too many unfair things in life.
One of the female students asked, "A hundred thousand dollars isn't that easy to earn. I've never even heard of that much money in my life. Her commission must be very high, right?"
