You Xuan woke up early the next morning.
After packing his bags, gathering various models of Duel Disks, several completed deck sets, and a super-expanded side deck that now numbered over a hundred cards, he was ready. He boarded the special plane sent by Duel Academy exclusively for new students and flew towards the legendary sanctuary for newcomers—Duel Academy itself.
One must admit that the academy funded by President Kaiba was extravagant; the island was quite vast. Judging from the second year of the anime, Jaden Yuki and his classmates got lost on the academy island for quite a few days after obtaining the Neo-Spacian deck. Furthermore, throughout the entire series, this island was shown to house ancient ruins, secret research facilities, and various other installations.
So, even though it was a school, it was, at the very least, the size of a small town.
As the plane approached, You Xuan gazed out of the porthole, taking in the environment of the solitary island. Looking down from above, the entire island resembled a lush green forest, and at the back, there was a massive volcanic crater. It all felt vaguely familiar, as if he had seen it somewhere before.
A flash of insight struck You Xuan, and he suddenly recalled something.
Wait a moment, this aerial view... doesn't it resemble "Isolated Island of the Flame King"?
"Isolated Island of the Flame King" was a core field magic card from the "Flame King" deck, but there shouldn't be anything like that in the GX anime.
You Xuan had never noticed it before, and it was only now, as he flew over Duel Academy, that he realized the striking resemblance between the island and the card illustration—a similarity of at least nine out of ten.

After Judai stood up, he started dozing off again, but this time, Cronos kept his eyes fixed on him for the remainder of the ceremony.
You Xuan suddenly felt like he understood why the professor disliked Judai so much in the early stages of the story.
He was a privileged student, didn't pay attention in class, didn't hand in assignments, and yet he was exceptionally talented in dueling, which could easily influence other students to follow his example. While some of Cronos' methods were indeed extreme, his motives were understandable.
After the opening ceremony concluded, the new students followed the academy staff to receive their uniforms, student IDs, and other necessary items.
Before arriving on the island, he had wondered if President Kaiba would be petty enough to assign him to the Red Dormitory because of his impressive performance against the AI with the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. After all, the president could be petty, and back in Duel City, when Joey Wheeler had bested him with the same card, Kaiba had relentlessly mocked him as a "bone-headed fool."
However, it seemed that the president wasn't that petty after all, at least not to the point of concerning himself with such trivial matters.
You Xuan, who had entered with the top score, was naturally assigned to the Ra-Yellow Dormitory and became a candidate for the fastest promotion to the Obelisk Blue Dormitory, the elite residence.
If the dormitory levels were merely a formality, You Xuan wouldn't have minded, even if he were at the bottom. However, the higher-tier dormitories not only had priority in purchasing cards but also boasted better dining halls, superior chefs, and top-notch accommodations, with each student enjoying the comfort of a single room equipped with the best amenities.
In comparison, the Red Dormitory was not only small and outdated but also had a cafeteria that was universally despised, with the exception of the enigmatic Judai. Living there would undoubtedly be a painful experience.
While the Ra-Yellow Dormitory wasn't as luxurious as Obelisk Blue, it still offered single rooms and excellent facilities. You Xuan was quite pleased with his room.
After moving their luggage in, the first day was spent on light cleaning and organizing.
The first evening meal was a gathering for the new students of each dormitory to get to know one another and meet their dormitory head teachers.
You Xuan racked his brains and vaguely recalled that in the original story, the dormitory head of Osiris Red was Professor Otogi, who appeared to be a bumbling fool but was actually a hidden dark duelist and the academy's strongest fighter.

Then it dawned on him.
The head of the Ra-Yellow Dormitory was Professor Hayashi, a curry enthusiast.
His deck of choice was even a curry-themed one—an anime-exclusive deck that had yet to see a single card printed in real life.
"Ahem, my name is Professor Hayashi, and I am your dormitory head. First of all, on behalf of the Ra-Yellow Dormitory, I welcome each and every one of you. As newcomers assigned to the Yellow Dormitory, each of you is an elite among elites.
Usually, we would have each freshman introduce themselves or showcase a small talent.
But! This is Duel Academy, and everything is decided through duels! So, this is what I have in store for you, your first trial after enrolling—"
With a grand flourish, he swept his curry-colored cloak aside.
