Chapter 64: Completion
Chapter 64: Completion
"So, you two wish to see me?"
Fu Shouxin looked at Ren Xiaotian and Chen Chuan. Upon hearing that a client wanted to meet him, he instructed his men to bring them over.
Located near the city center, this underground arena required him to interact with people from all walks of life. The old gang rules wouldn't solve the problem. Especially with clients, who had extensive connections and influence, he tried to avoid offending them whenever possible. As long as there were no significant conflicts, he would give them face.
Chen Chuan sized up the man. As the leader of the Xuehen Gang, he looked entirely different from the wild and unrefined appearance of Fu Shouxin and Guo Paozi.
This middle-aged man was well-groomed, with neatly trimmed sideburns and a clean-shaven face. He wore a casual imported suit, a floral-patterned tie, and shiny black leather shoes, exuding an air of sophistication.
Fu Shouxin invited them to sit and asked his men to serve them drinks. Leaning back on the sofa, he gestured with his hand and said, "So, what brings you two here?"
Ren Xiaotian replied, "We want to take An Qingqing away."
"Oh?" Fu Shouxin replied nonchalantly, "As long as you can get her to leave on her own, I won't stop you. We do business here, and we follow the rules."
"She refuses to leave," Ren Xiaotian continued, "and I hope Mr. Fu will make her leave."
Fu Shouxin chuckled and straightened his body slightly. Looking at them, he said, "Let me make this clear. You aren't the first to come looking for An Qingqing, but she's our guest, and she's here to give us money. How could we possibly drive away a paying customer? I'd love for her to stay here forever. Your request..." He leaned back further and spread his hands, "...is impossible."
At this moment, Ren Xiaotian took out his revolver and placed it on the tea table in front of him, causing the surrounding security and gang members to tense up. Some began preparing to draw their weapons.
Fu Shouxin raised his hand, signaling them to stay calm. His eyes held a mixture of curiosity and amusement as he said, "What's this about? Are you threatening me? As a client, you should know where you are, right? Do you think you can scare me off with just a gun? Are you here to make fun of me?"
Ren Xiaotian spoke in a flat tone, "If you don't let her go, I'll fire a shot into the sky as soon as I leave."
Fu Shouxin, who had been rather nonchalant, suddenly changed his expression upon hearing these words.
Ren Xiaotian continued in a dry tone, "When the gunshot is heard, someone will call the police, and the Patrol Bureau will arrive."
"Damn!" Fu Shouxin cursed. Looking at Ren Xiaotian, he asked, "You're serious?"
He was well aware of the nature of the Patrol Bureau. Since their funds came directly from the state and not through the municipal government, they were highly cliquish internally and wouldn't show any favor to the Xuehen Gang.
When they arrived, they wouldn't care about the specifics of the situation or who fired the gun. They would use the excuse of searching for weapons to extort a large sum of money or even seal the place for a few days. Even if Fu Shouxin used connections to get it unsealed, he would still have to pay a fee.
Fu Shouxin.
Fu Shouxin focus on driving.
At this moment, Chen Chuan understood Ren Xiaotian's train of thought. He was familiar with the ways of the Patrol Bureau, so he chimed in at the right moment, speaking in a calm tone:
"Mr. Fu, your arena is located between two districts. While you may usually exploit this loophole to avoid regulations, a gunshot will attract the attention of the Patrol Bureau from both districts.
The Patrol Bureau in Daping District is about a ten-minute drive away, and the one in Baofeng District is only seven or eight minutes away, ensuring their arrival within ten minutes. Mr. Fu, with such a large arena, won't you have time to evacuate? You should know the rules of the Patrol Bureau. As far as I know, Captain Wei of Baofeng District is known as Wei Laohu. He hates evil and acts boldly, and I believe Mr. Fu wouldn't want to see him, right?"
Fu Shouxin's expression changed. He was considering whether to detain these two, but the problem was that they likely had backup waiting outside, which would only complicate matters further.
Those who carried guns around were either fugitives or had firearms licenses, and the latter was more troublesome. It implied a martial arts background, which came with numerous complications.
He had never encountered such a situation before, mainly because those who were qualified wouldn't cause trouble for the Xuehen Gang, and those who weren't qualified wouldn't dare to cause trouble for them.
Ren Xiaotian pondered for a while, then signaled to one of his men, who approached with a solemn expression. "Go and cancel Room Seven. Send them away," he instructed.
The man nodded and escorted the guests out.
Ren Xiaotian picked up the gun on the table, holstered it, and stood up. "Mr. Fu, goodbye," he said.
"I hope we don't meet again," Fu Shouxin replied, his face grim. "You are no longer welcome here."
"There won't be a next time," Ren Xiaotian assured him.
Fu Shouxin smirked. "That's for the best." He turned to his men and said, "What are you staring at? Escort the guests out!"
A large group of Xuehen Gang members immediately surrounded them, and as they stood up, they were escorted out like prisoners.
Ren Xiaotian and Chen Chuan didn't pay much attention to this, knowing it was just for show. After all, the deed was done, and they had to give the host some face.
Once outside, they met up with Lin Xiaoti. Chen Chuan noticed a faint scent of algae oil on Lin Xiaoti, and a thought crossed his mind.
An Qingqing had not yet emerged, so the three of them waited.
Chen Chuan pondered for a moment, realizing that Ren Xiaotian's strategy of borrowing force to counter force was ingenious. In the end, he didn't need to lift a finger; by utilizing the Xuehen Gang, he had resolved the matter.
This seemed simple, but in reality, it required a deep understanding of Fu Shouxin's psychology and the Patrol Bureau's modus operandi, as well as a strong sense of self-assurance to pull it off.
He turned to Ren Xiaotian and said, "Senior Ren, I've learned something."
Ren Xiaotian looked at him intently and replied, "Use the rules to counter the rules." After a moment's thought, he added, "Your safety is paramount."
Chen Chuan nodded in agreement.
Lin Xiaoti, standing nearby, chimed in cheerfully, "Listen to Senior Ren; he's always right."
After a brief conversation, An Qingqing and her female bodyguard, Xiao Zhen, emerged from inside. An Qingqing had her cheeks puffed out, looking sullen.
Lin Xiaoti approached her and said, "Miss An, it's us again. Let's go."
An Qingqing crossed her arms and humphed. "Fine, if you can beat Xiao Zhen, I'll go with you."
The muscular female bodyguard had just stepped forward when she saw Ren Xiaotian draw a gun and aim it at her. She froze, then skillfully raised her hands and turned to An Qingqing, saying, "Miss..."
An Qingqing glanced at Ren Xiaotian, his face cold as he held the gun, and then at the pleading eyes of the female bodyguard. She muttered a few words and said, "Fine, I'll go with you. But I won't ride in your car. Xiao Zhen, you drive me home."
Chen Chuan silently thought to himself, 'The firearms license is indeed useful.'
Xiao Zhen, with permission, quickly ran to get the car. After a while, she drove up in a red maple sedan, and An Qingqing walked straight to it, opened the door, and sat inside.
Ren Xiaotian asked, "Is it done?"
Lin Xiaoti giggled. "I checked. I wanted to put a little more, but she only had enough algae oil to get home, not enough to go anywhere else."
After hearing this, Ren Xiaotian didn't say anything further. He gestured for Chen Chuan and Lin Xiaoti to get into the off-road vehicle, and the two cars drove off towards the south of the city.
The journey was uneventful, and they safely escorted An Qingqing back to the residential area where the An family lived. Ren Xiaotian asked Lin Xiaoti to make a phone call, and soon, a butler-like figure came out to sign the receipt.
Ren Xiaotian then handed Chen Chuan a carbon copy of the receipt, and with that, their assignment was complete. Whether An Qingqing would run off again was no longer their concern.
During the drive back to school, Chen Chuan learned through conversation that Lin Xiaoti was younger than him and had been learning martial arts from her master since childhood. She also intended to apply to Wu Yi Academy the following year, and with her connections and skills, it seemed likely that they would be classmates.
When they arrived at the dormitory, Chen Chuan bid farewell to the two and, as usual, called Cheng Zitong first. After hearing that the assignment went smoothly, Cheng Zitong said, "I checked your records, and you had an excellent evaluation for your previous assignment. This one should be fine too, completing your three assignment goals. Now, it's time to focus on mastering your power technique."
Chen Chuan replied calmly, "I'll do my best, Teacher."
