Chapter 637: Ready to Go
Chapter 637: Ready to Go
Jiang Xia followed the furniture factory manager to their booth, picked up the factory’s brochures, and took a quick look at the exhibits. Once she had a general idea, she headed up to the third floor to the apparel exhibition area.
Today was the rehearsal for the fashion show.
The runway was already set up in the atrium on the third floor, with a section of the space cleared out.
The moment Jiang Xia stepped into the fashion zone, the managers of the two clothing factories from Jing City spotted her and hurried over. They each grabbed one of her arms, trying to pull her to their respective booths.
"Xia, we’ve arranged the outfits for the runway show in the order you suggested. Can you check if everything’s right?"
"Xia, I’ve revised the order forms according to your requirements. Can you take a look and see if any more changes are needed?"
The two managers started bickering again: "Move aside, our factory’s show is first tomorrow, so we’re in a hurry!"
"Move aside yourself! I got to Xia first! Our show is second, but we haven’t printed the order forms yet."
"Who made you dawdle..."
Jiang Xia, caught between them, said, "Don’t worry, I’ll check the order forms."
Manager He said, "Checking the order forms takes time. Come to my booth first; it’ll be quick."
At that moment, Old He walked over and intervened, "Alright, stop arguing. One at a time. We need to handle the urgent matters first. The order forms must be ready today. Xia, go help Manager Qiu with their order forms first."
Jiang Xia nodded, "Sure! I’ll help Manager Qiu with the order forms first. The forms need to be printed in advance, Manager He, please wait a moment."
Manager He had no choice but to back off.
Manager Qiu, delighted, said, "Xia, let’s go!"
Jiang Xia followed him to his booth and took a look at the revised order forms.
After reviewing the original order forms from several clothing factories, Jiang Xia found them lacking in clarity. If customers used these forms to place orders, it would be confusing and time-consuming.
While this wasn’t a big issue for regular orders, as customers could take their time to find what they needed, it would be a problem during the fashion show. Customers wouldn’t know how to place orders while watching the show, making it difficult to order on the spot.
The purpose of this show was to secure orders!
How could the order forms be inconvenient for customers to use?
Jiang Xia designed two templates for the order forms.
One was for customers who hadn’t attended the show.
The other was for customers who were watching the show live.
The garment numbers on the order forms matched the order in which the models would walk, making it easier for customers to place orders.
However, the current conditions were limited. The layout software, printing, and copying technology weren’t very convenient, so Jiang Xia couldn’t make the order forms as perfect and user-friendly as she would have liked.
For now, she had to combine the on-site display with the order forms to help customers find the corresponding items more easily.
Of course, this would be a bit more troublesome. For example, some customers might pick up a garment, look at it, and then hang it back in a different spot. This would require staff to return the garments to their original positions.
Even if the staff were busy and couldn’t do this immediately, each garment had a number, and customers could be reminded to double-check before placing their orders.
This would increase the workload for the staff, but it would make things easier for the customers.
Jiang Xia believed that sales started with service, and one should never be afraid of inconvenience.
Good service made customers feel cared for and satisfied, making them more willing to spend money.
Poor service was like paying to suffer, and no one would want to do that again.
Quality first, service also first.
With her excellent memory, Jiang Xia had no trouble recalling the changes she had made to the order forms. After checking everything, she told Manager Qiu, "Everything looks good. You can have them printed now."
"Good!" Qiu Changzhang immediately instructed his assistant, "Print out the order forms. Make a hundred copies of each form."
There probably wouldn't be a hundred foreign buyers, and he'd be overjoyed if there were even fifty. He doubted there would be thirty, but it was always better to be over-prepared.
This year's Guangzhou Trade Fair featured six garment factories in the fashion show. Besides the two from Jing City, the other four were among the top five in sales from the previous fair.
The factory Qiu Changzhang managed hadn't made it into the top five at the last fair, only the top ten. This time, he had the opportunity to participate in the fashion show and be a model unit, largely due to the geographical advantage and Jiang Xia's influence. Jiang Xia had proposed the idea, and since her factory was in Jing City, it made it easier for her to coordinate the event.
The assistant acknowledged and hurried to copy the order forms, "Okay."
Jiang Xia glanced at the clothing display at the booth.
She had already visited their factory showroom in Jing City and spent a day helping them arrange all the clothes for the exhibition. Later, when she reviewed the order forms at home, she had new ideas and made some adjustments.
Now, all the clothes for the fashion show were arranged in order, hung up, and ready for the models to change into.
"No mistakes, just follow this order."
"Okay."
"Everything looks good here. I'll go check on He Changzhang's booth. The rehearsal starts at 1:30 PM today, so make sure everyone eats early and gets ready."
"Okay!"
After confirming everything was in order, Jiang Xia headed to the next factory's booth to see how they were preparing. Four of the factories were not in Jing City, but their managers and deputy managers had visited Jing City for training. He Lao had asked her to check on their arrangements.
From around 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM, she had been busy, even taking a break to feed her child, before continuing her work. It wasn't until 11:45 AM that she returned to her residence for lunch.
After eating, she breastfed and put her child down for a nap. At 1:15 PM, she headed back to the exhibition hall.
The runway had been set up in the atrium on the third floor, occupying a large open area.
To make room for the runway, each booth's space had been slightly reduced, which caused some complaints from the manufacturers not participating in the fashion show.
Now, the rehearsal was about to begin, and the runway was surrounded by onlookers.
Many exhibitors were curious to see how the fashion show would turn out, especially since their booth spaces had been reduced to make room for it.
Some sour comments were inevitable:
"Reform is really taking hold! Some factories are even catering to foreign tastes at the Guangzhou Trade Fair!"
"It's all about attracting foreign buyers, so of course, they're setting it up according to their preferences. I think the runway looks quite professional."
"Of course it does, with so much space!"
"I hope it's a success! A few years ago, I saw a foreign designer's fashion show at the Cultural Palace in Jing City, and it was amazing! If this year's show is successful, they'll continue it next year, which would be beneficial for us. The leadership mentioned that more factories could participate next year."
"I doubt it! The college students they hired as models may not know how to walk the runway. We don't want to embarrass ourselves on an international stage!"
