Chapter 636: The Real Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom
Chapter 636: The Real Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom
After being dismissed by Snape, Kyle lingered outside the classroom, pressing his ear against the door once again, much to Conna's bewilderment.
However, all he could hear was a buzzing sound, as if a swarm of Billywigs were flying inside.
It was the effect of the Silencing Charm.
"Damn, not a shred of trust left," Kyle muttered under his breath.
He knew he wasn't going to hear any juicy news today.
With no other choice, Kyle left the underground classroom with Conna, sharing his speculation along the way.
"That's unlikely..." Conna hesitated, "But why would Professor Snape use the Forgetfulness Charm on Professor Umbridge?"
She was aware that Snape could be a bit harsh with professors he didn't get along with, like Professor Lupin or Sirius Black, but he had never physically harmed anyone.
Even when dealing with Sirius Black, they would engage in mutual mockery without ever resorting to physical violence, let alone acting maliciously behind each other's backs.
After all, they were professors, and this was Hogwarts; they couldn't afford to behave too outrageously, and even in moments of extreme anger, they would restrain themselves.
"It's unlikely that I'm wrong. You must have noticed it too, right? The questions Professor Umbridge asked were exactly the same as last time, indicating that she doesn't remember her previous visit."
Kyle glanced back at the underground classroom, which was now farther away, "As for why Professor Snape did this, perhaps Professor Umbridge said something inappropriate... It's only natural for such a thing to happen to her."
Kyle had intended to wait a little longer, curious to see if Snape would cast the Forgetfulness Charm on Umbridge.
However, as no one emerged from the underground classroom and with Professor Sprout's Herbology class next, he had to temporarily suppress his curiosity and head towards the greenhouses outside the castle with Conna.
During dinner that evening, the atmosphere in the Great Hall felt rather delicate, with some students seemingly anticipating something, appearing unusually excited.
Fred accidentally lit a Firework, and a corn-shaped sparkler ran, jumped, and soared through the Great Hall, causing younger students to scream and scramble for cover, knocking over several cups of pumpkin juice.
Fred paid the price for his actions, as Professor McGonagall deducted twenty points from Gryffindor.
In contrast to Fred, Cedric, who had been tense for several days, displayed a surprising calmness at the Hufflepuff table.
"Aren't you nervous?" Kyle asked.
"It's strange," Cedric scooped a spoonful of corn soup, "I was so nervous at lunch that I couldn't eat. But after class just now, I suddenly felt nothing.
"We've prepared for a long time, considered all possible scenarios, and made corresponding preparations. Since it's like this, why should I still be nervous?"
"It's good that you think this way," Kyle said.
He noticed that Cedric and Harry were in opposite states; Harry had been tense for the past few days but was now nervous, sitting without eating a bite, not even attracted by the accidental fireworks lit by Fred.
Cedric, on the other hand, had turned things around, feeling more relaxed as the moment approached.
"Are you going to the Room of Requirement today?" Cedric asked. "At noon today, everyone who signed up for self-study in Defense Against the Dark Arts signed a magic contract.
"Under the influence of magic, they won't be able to reveal the situation in the Room of Requirement to others, so you don't have to worry about Professor Umbridge finding out."
"If that's the case... then okay." Kyle nodded.
To be honest, Kyle was also curious about what Cedric would do, and it wouldn't matter even if Umbridge found out.
Kyle had to admit that although Professor Lockhart's character was not that great, he did teach him a very useful spell, especially in dealing with the current situation, which could solve a lot of trouble.
At 7:30, Kyle, Conna, and Cedric left the Hufflepuff Common Room and headed towards the Room of Requirement.
"I asked before, and the house elves can't take us to the eighth floor. We have to go in batches."
Cedric glanced at the painting of the fruit-filled corridor and said, "Unless they have the Headmaster's permission, they can't use magic in front of students."
"Then why don't you go and tell Professor Dumbledore?" Kyle suggested.
"You're kidding," Cedric said, giving him a look. "Our actions tonight will violate at least ten school rules. How could we possibly tell the Headmaster? He definitely wouldn't agree."
"Not necessarily," Kyle said. "You're doing this for learning, aren't you? I dare say the Headmaster wouldn't mind giving you a little privilege."
Cedric hesitated for a moment and still shook his head.
As a typical Hufflepuff, he still had a bit of a filter for Headmaster Dumbledore and had never considered telling him about breaking the school rules.
With this thought and the courage to do so, Kyle was probably the only one in the entire Hogwarts.
When they arrived at the eighth floor, there was already a door across from the Babbling Baba Carpet.
Cedric knocked three times and then pushed open the door and walked in.
Inside the room were Hermione, Harry, Ron, and Fred and George.
This work is organized and uploaded by the 69 Book Bar.
Upon seeing Kyle, who had followed them, Ron's expression turned serious, and he was about to say something when he noticed Fred and George approaching with excited faces.
"I knew you'd come, mate," Fred said.
"Although your plan is also important, it would be a shame to miss out on this."
"This... You're not..." Ron stared blankly at the scene before him, feeling his brain couldn't keep up.
Didn't they have a falling out?
Weren't they ignoring each other before?
How did they reconcile so quickly?
However, Hermione, who was holding a book beside them, showed a look of 'I knew it.'
She had guessed it earlier; Kyle and the others must have had a plan, and only Ron was clueless.
"But this is the first time we've known that you'd actually defend us..." Fred patted the dazed Ron.
"Yeah," George said with a smile, "This makes it hard for us to prank you in the future..."
Even if Ron was a bit slow, he realized at this moment that he had been tricked.
He was Fred and George's brother, and they kept everything from him. They watched him make a fool of himself, yet they still said nothing...
That's not right! Ron felt betrayed, his face turned red with anger, and he silently vowed to himself that he would never meddle in other people's business again!
Seeing Ron's angry expression, Fred and George laughed even harder.
At this moment, Kyle was examining the surroundings.
The bookshelves here were filled with books related to Defense Against the Dark Arts, ranging from simple to advanced, catering to students of all grades.
Additionally, there were some special magical tools on the shelves, all of which were basic items like the Divination Mirror, Demon Finder, and Revealing Mirror, but they could still provide decent assistance.
