Chapter 636: Love is a Constant Debt
Chapter 636: Love is a Constant Debt
...
After witnessing William's betrayal, accepting the princess's bribe and then selling out Veronica's William, Lyon couldn't help but fall silent for a moment. He then proactively changed the subject again:
"Let's put this aside for now... Why did you erase Melanie's completed homework?"
"Because she copied my answers."
William replied without batting an eye:
"The teacher will punish those who copy homework. Knowing Melanie, she will definitely use her better grades as an excuse and claim that I copied her answers.
Ms. Lisa is very kind, and in a situation where it's hard to tell who copied whom, she will not wrongfully accuse anyone. Most likely, she will have us both stand as punishment. So, I'm just taking precautions to avoid getting implicated by her tomorrow."
"..."
So, that's what happened. But couldn't you have just reported it to Anna? Even if you did, these assignments would still need to be erased... Hmm, by erasing them in advance, you saved yourself some trouble. Was this your plan all along?
Forget it, I'm really not good at handling kids. Let's wait for Anna to handle this.
Lyon sat speechless in his chair, watching William erase all the copied answers. He didn't intervene, even when Melanie got beaten up, when she realized her homework was erased, and when she screamed and pounced on William for a showdown, only to be exposed for copying and then subdued by Anna a second time...
To be honest, as the older brother, I only need to eat my teammates and fight two Nightmare Kings. But Anna, who's in charge of suppressing these two little demons, has a lot more to consider.
After a chaotic scene of escalating intensity, it was Anna who ultimately prevailed, not only subduing one of the little demons but also forcing the two tyrants of the first grade at the Naval Academy to finish all their homework before 10:30 pm.
What's more terrifying is that within fifteen minutes of completing the homework, Anna used her purification secret technique to wash the two demons clean, stuffed them into the small bathroom, and then tossed them onto the Demon King's bed, covering them with the sealing blanket. She even found time to sing a lullaby, sending the two demons straight to dreamland...
"Anna..."
Watching Anna tuck Melanie's feet back into the blanket and carefully tuck in the corners, Lyon couldn't help but feel a surge of emotion as he witnessed his sister's meticulous care for the two little demons.
"These years have truly been hard on you..."
"?"
Unsure of the reason for his sudden sentiment, Anna blinked in confusion and then shook her head gently.
"No, these are just small matters. Your work is truly challenging."
As she spoke, she hesitated slightly and then whispered:
"Brother, if your work is genuinely dangerous... How about..."
"Don't worry."
Interrupting Anna, Lyon chuckled and brushed it off:
"It was a bit dangerous at first, but I've become much stronger now. There's rarely any danger, and I'm very cautious. I run away at the first sign of trouble and never take unnecessary risks. Some even call me 'Cowardly Lyon' now, haha.
In any case, my work is a bit dangerous, but I've always been careful, so you don't need to worry about my safety."
"Hmm..."
Anna, still a bit thin, nodded slightly in agreement. Instead of continuing the conversation, she reached out and smoothed out the wrinkles on Lyon's shirt, which Melanie had caused. Then she asked:
"Since you have a rare break and tomorrow is the weekend, how about we take William and the others to the amusement park for a day? It'll be a nice way to relax."
"..."
Taking these two little demons to the amusement park would be more stressful than relaxing.
"Sure!"
Lyon nodded in agreement to Anna's suggestion, a smile playing on his lips as he whispered, "And Ellie too. These three kids have never been to an amusement park. I wonder how excited they'll be when they find out tomorrow."
"Yeah."
Hearing Lyon's words, Anna smiled softly, tilting her chin upwards slightly before gently pulling Lyon out of the bedroom and into the kitchen.
"Go get some rest, brother," she said with a smile to the perplexed Lyon.
As she tied on an apron and began preparing food in the kitchen, Lyon watched her for a moment before speaking up again.
"By the way, Anna, you haven't told me what you want to buy yet."
"Hmm?"
The slender girl, who was cutting fish jelly, paused at Lyon's question, then waved her hand with a light laugh.
"It's okay, I'm not a child anymore. Why would I need a gift?"
"You do," Lyon insisted.
"You may not be a child anymore, but you're still my little sister. Isn't it normal for a brother to give his sister a small gift?"
"Alright, alright," Anna relented, shaking her head with a sigh. After some thought, she suggested, "Why don't you buy me a new apron? I've been using this one for over two years now, and it's getting quite old. Or maybe a larger pot for cooking would be nice."
Lyon listened quietly as Anna listed a few household items she wanted.
"Now that we have three kids in the house, they eat a lot more than before. The old pot isn't big enough anymore. Or maybe a new iron would be great; a lot of the clothes we brought are wrinkled..."
Lyon's gaze softened as he heard Anna's requests, all of them practical household items.
So, the things you want are still 'household' items, and not a single one is for yourself...
"I'll buy them all!"
After jotting down Anna's wishes, Lyon, seeing his 'unassuming' sister, couldn't help but guide her.
"But these are all things for the house, Anna. Don't you want something for yourself? Like a small silver piece of jewelry or a slightly more expensive new dress?"
"But I don't need those," the slender girl frowned at the suggestion.
"Besides taking care of them and helping Aunt Mary, I sometimes have to do some heavy work. Jewelry can easily get caught on something, and a new dress..." She paused, then added, "Oh, a new dress would be nice, though."
As she spoke, Anna looked down at her faded old dress and the apron that slightly puffed out her chest, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"Recently, I... um... my old dress doesn't fit well anymore. I should buy a nicer new dress... No, make it an evening gown!"
An evening gown? Lyon was momentarily taken aback, then asked with a puzzled expression,
"Why an evening gown? Do you have an important event to attend?"
Anna looked back at Lyon, equally baffled, and asked with a puzzled expression,
"Of course! Isn't your wedding next month?"
"..."
"Ah?!?!?"
